As a student interviewer at Drexel they ask us to look for a couple of key things:

1. Will this student fit in with the class
2. Does the student have a a true understanding of what medical school entails and the realities of the profession.
3. Will this student act professionally
4. Can the student communicate

It sounds broad and vague but thats what student interviewers look for

Thanks for the quick reply!
And I guess going along with what you had bolded, what do you think are some qualities are match a student with Drexel?

Honestly,

As long as youre not socially awkard you will be fine. Drexel is very laid back and most of the students get along and are more than willing to help each other out. We work very hard but we also like to have fun. I love Drexel because it is so non-competitive and you really feel like you can do really well if you want to but also do not feel pressured to excel in every single class; it is more important o stay sane and mentally and physically healthy because we will all be doctors someday no matter what. So if you come off as someone who will "Gun" then, in my opinion, Drexel is not the right place for you and most of the student interviewers can "feel" those type of people out during an interview. Sorry for the rant.

Im an MS1 and from my opinion after they ask you for an interview they already believe you can do well in medical school. Obviously they will look at stats again but if you do really well on your interview and a good fit for the school that is way more important. When I interviewed, I did not have a great MCAT and was asked about it but I was still accepted regardless. Stats do not mean everything but they are still looked at. If there are any more questions just ask!
thank you!

Heya folks!

Anybody going to the interview on December 4th? I'm hoping to see a few other SDN users there!

u can fake not being a gunner...fake it til u make it.

Interviewed Oct 3 and still no decision. I'm going to call next week and see what the deal is.

Wednesday Night Confession:

I was debating on whether or not to apply here. I was hesitant about the area, rotation sites, bad reputation from others that have been there, and old/broke down buildings. I was leaning toward not applying and that's when MedPR posted about his experiences around the same time. It was actually his experience here that was the nail in the coffin.

Good luck to you guys

This was really helpful, thank you! And I'm not a gunner at all lol so hopeful they'll get that from me haha.

Okay, interviewed 9/19 with no decision. Let me know how that goes. Sent an email to no avail.

Sent from my LT28at using SDN Mobile

They told us 8-10 weeks post-interview for a decision.

I just withdrew my application and gave up my interview at Drexel. If any of you that live nearby are trying to get an earlier spot, call and see if this Friday, the 30th, is still open. Best of luck to you all!

Complete in late August, haven't heard anything yet. Is there still hope? Is there a chance? Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?

Gahhh...I want to! But I still have to prepare (originally scheduled for January) 🙁
Thanks for the head's up.

Has any mid October interviewees heard any updates?
I was October 8th and I've still got nothing. Status says "currently under review." Anxious does not even begin to describe my state of mind right now lol

Anyone think I have any chance at Drexel? 3.4, 28Q, PA resident. 🙁

Drexel takes a holistic approach when looking at applicants. While your numbers don't really help you, they don't destroy your chances like they might at other schools. If you have a lot of other extracurriculars, then you will be fine applying.

I just withdrew from my 12/4 interview if someone wants to try to grab it.

I interviewed on a later date, and my status still states that my interview has been scheduled. I was hoping to hear back before the holidays, but I'm not so sure now...

Based just on what people have posted on this forum, it looks like the last interview date they reviewed was 10/5, or at least no SDNers have posted about decisions from a date later than that. I'm assuming/hoping that this means my interview date will be decided on sometime in the next week or two since I already have the currently under review status.

Thought that might give you a better idea of what timeline you're probably on 🙂

Hey hey, fellow 10/8'er! My status still says "Interview has been confirmed" so we're in the same boat. Hope we both get accepted soon!

October 11 interview...Have had the "under review" for about two weeks.

From what i got from last year's thread as well as this years is that the time between your interview and the decision is based on how fast your interviewers get your stuff in.

From after your interview until they get the interview feedback, they'll have you as your interview has been scheduled.

Then your file will go to a member of the admissions committee. The time with this status varies a lot (from what i saw from last year's thread). It can be a short amount of time before it get sent to committee or a very very long time.

After it's been with a member, the status changes to your file is with the admissions committee. I think this means that your file will be talked about the next time the committee meets and a decision is coming really soon. From last year's thread i think they meet on thursdays and statuses change to decision on friday or monday.
Anyway this is all speculation from what i saw in last year's thread.
If my theory is right, I should be getting a decision between thursday and monday of next week.

I'll let you guys know...

Can anyone confirm that there actually are different statuses this year? I interviewed at the end of October and I've had the "under review by the admissions committee" status for at least a week. I didn't check my status very frequently after my interview so I'm not sure when exactly it changed or if I was under review by a "member of the admissions committee" at one point and just didn't see it.

I interviewed at the end of october as well. Right after my interview it switched to it's with a member of the admissions of committee. Last week before thanksgiving it switched over to it's with the committee.

Just curious, has anyone from 9/19 gotten a decision yet? I was under review by a member of the admissions committee for like a month and have been under review by the committee for two weeks. It's been ten weeks total so far.

9 weeks and counting here 😕

Hello!! I hope we hear some news soon, although my app seems to be farther along the process than yours :/ I wish I would have taken people more seriously when they said this was all a waiting game... ugh haha

i withdrew from my 11/29 one

Thanks! I was told it was open but a little too close for comfort, considering I originally was scheduled in January and hadn't prepared yet. 😛 I hope someone else got it.

I know I am going to go to it... but financing was an issue.. so sat on my invite for a while.

I didn't know they interviewed on Saturdays, hmm. But mine's on a Monday so I figure I'll just go over stuff this weekend and get it over with.
So the date isn't free then?

I think he/she meant sat as in waited a while to schedule after receiving the invitation to interview

You definitely have a chance, 3.5, 29 here....

Thanks, I keep sending in letters every month or so- i live so close..yet so faaaarrrrrr. i could touch the school with my finger from where i'm standing. it's my #1.

Hey guys,
So according to the status page I have been invited for an interview... however, on the "My application" page I do not see any link for me to schedule my interview? Could someone please tell me if there is a separate link or the link is located somewhere else? Or is there a lag time before the link comes up?

Thank you so much

Got the re-review in the spring status. Blah. Oh well, this wasn't one of my top choices. Complete end of August, 32R, non-trad, 3.9

This is essentially a rejection, right?

I saw the link in my status page. In the email inviting you for interview it says "Please click on the link for View Status and re-enter your Drexel/Banner ID and Pin to access the Interview Scheduler. "
It'll probably show up soon.

Also would it be terrible neurotic/annoying to go to the admis office in person (i live close) and express my undying cant-live-without-you interest?

Hey,

So I am about to schedule my interview and I just had a few quick questions about the interview process cause the first available date is very early.

Does the interview process for this school require alot of prep?
Is it a stressful interview, meaning I should really prep for like weeks beforehand?

Is it really bad to schedule an interview that available much later as compared to an earlier date?

Thank you so much 😀

The interview shouldn't require much prep beyond what you've already done for other schools. There's a short essay question you need to answer, but there's not much you can do to prepare for that. If you feel more comfortable with the later date, go for that, but if you want to get it done with, schedule for the earlier date.

Hey hey, fellow 10/8'er! My status still says "Interview has been confirmed" so we're in the same boat. Hope we both get accepted soon!

I interviewed on 10/03 and my status still says that my application will "shortly" be sent to committee. Blergh. It's been 8 weeks now. I also called the admissions office today and they said they couldn't give me a time frame or date for when a decision would be made.

That's strange because I interviewed 10/31 and mine has already been sent to committee...
