Same. Example: Tufts.

But I did get two interviews so far at schools I really love. So I can't complain too much.

Yes, this sounds strange especially with a broad range of schools, early app and great stats. Perhaps there is some sort of red flag in his app that you are unaware of? From what I am told, a great applicant WILL end up somewhere when this is all said and done. So I think he will be fine.

Yeah, I'm not really sure. He's a pretty good kid (definitely doesn't have any legal infractions or IAs). Maybe he got an unexpectedly bad LOR or something. I would be really surprised by that, though.

His one interview was at Pittsburgh, which is one of the schools I'm looking at myself. I can't imagine a school like that would let him interview if there was a red flag on his app, but he's still stuck at only one II. 🙁

I bought him a pizza today, so hopefully that cheered him up! 🙂

🙁 same here. Every time I see someone goes "secondary submitted the day before, complete yesterday, II today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I go "WTF, you didn't have to put so many exclamation marks! but I was complete more than a month ago!".

story of my life.
 
I am currently mid panic. 0 II, 1 R. I've submitted to 21 schools total. I'm submitting a secondary to one additional school this weekend.

If I don't hear anything next week I will bury a rock and create a tombstone that reads "Silent September" atop and "Hopes were high. Interview Invites were low" below. I'll have a candle light vigil lasting aproximately 5 minutes followed by blasting old Kanye vs Daft Punk - Stronger, shotgunning a beer and punting the empty can like a bonafied BAMF.
 
Panicked!! 17 secondaries sent a month ago and many got interviews who applied after me! I have 1 interview 1 rejection
 
Getting rejected from NY schools left and right and the rest are silent, and it's making me really anxious.

Yeah, I never get why people on SDN say that they're "humbled" by receiving an II or acceptance at a school. How is that humbling? I mean I get the entire application process being humbling, but receiving good news, even from a reach school, doesn't strike me as a "humbling" experience. Maybe it's just me...

Perhaps they feel like they don't deserve it or something? Frankly, I would feel more humbled by getting rejected by a "safety".
 
If you don't think you'd be humbled by receiving an II from Harvard, Hopkins, or Ivy Leagues, then LOL@U.

I know. Humbled/humbling is if you get 0 IIs for the entire cycle, which I wouldn't wish upon anyone.

I was humbled to receive an II from Mayo. I was also humbled by the rejection from Sinai. People are different, I suppose, but it made me feel like I was inadequate as it was.

I guess I can see that too. I am just trying to imagine if I got an II from Harvard, I would feel more like "holy mo, this is like god's gift, I better humble my butt off in front of those patron saints of excellence in medicine who bestowed such honor upon me". Or "SCORE!!! I am the most accomplished and awesome person in the whole world and I am the bestest of the bestest and then start behaving like a douche".

I don't know, I don't like the use of the word humbling here (maybe there are other emotions at play instead). If someone feels inadequate for a school, then actually receiving the II shouldn't increase that feeling. Again, I've never experienced getting an II at a reach school, and I'm not saying that you are lying. just don't understand because I guess I haven't experienced it, that's all...

Still panicking, applied 30 schools, couple rejections, no ii, no news from other schools...
 
It's been 2 weeks since verification/completions yet I'm already feeling the jitters. How do you people stand this for months on end?? :scared:
 
Just curious, I know I should definitely not panic right now, but when should I start getting worried?

I applied to 34 schools (10ish top 20 10ish top 20-50 and 10ish safetys) with a 3.74 34 MCAT average EC

I was verified on September 15th and will try to have all my secondaries done by 1st week of October
(is this crazy bad?)

When should I get worried if I am not receiving interview invites?

You're semi-late, but I feel like you'll get in somewhere no problem. 34 secondaries in a week though bro? It took me a month, and I didn't have anything else going on. If you could do it, I tip my hat to you.

I took out 22 secondaries in the span of a week. They're likely not as good as if I spent more time on them but yeah, it's possible to pull out decent ones. You do feel full of yourself afterwards though from spending almost every waking moment talking big about yourself.

I'm in your same situation, I got verified like 2 weeks ago. I think we're late but not to the point where it will destroy us. It might cut a bit out of our opportunities but we shouldn't panic.

Hey guys don't sweat it about the lack of invites.

I didn't get any till november and then they all just started pouring in. its only september and the med schools aren't in any rush. obviously you are still gonna freak out (i know I did), but you've got TONS of time left in the application year 🙂

Agreed. I've been rejected from 2 safeties and had to withdraw from 2 as well. Definitely humbling. I have ii at 2 of my reach schools and I felt a lot of things when I read the email/got the phone call, but "humbled" was not one of them.

Also, I'm on board with everyone regarding how slow September has been.. I was expecting a bunch of rejections.

Here's how things have gone for me so far.
July: 1 decision
August: 7 decisions
September: 4 decisions

Still have to hear back from 13 schools. Completed 29 applications.

I can't believe it's almost the end of September. My roommate also mentioned that we're entering our sixth week, whereas I was still thinking it was the third or fourth. Living day-to-day waiting on news is taking its toll :whistle:

I'm in my ~15th week of being verified 😱
 
Hey guys, make sure you don't think of it like each day that passes is another day closer to interview season being near end and only for wait list spots, that would be horribly nerve racking. I'll make sure not to mention it so you don't count down your viability like that.


I'm a horrible person...:laugh:

The semester! It's also strange because my school switched to semesters this summer. So I've had three years of quarters, only for my institution to switch my last year and complicate matters. This time last year I would have started classes this past Wednesday, but instead I'm approaching halfway through the semester..
