Nothing here except more rejections and re-reviews/small pools (i.e., soon-to-be rejections).

My only hope lies in a couple post-interview decisions. I don't expect any more ii's
 
I've got what I'm assuming will be my final interview of the cycle coming up this week.

Lets hope that all of this panicing we're doing helps up for thiis second half of the year!:luck:

Small pools are always good, no? I mean, at schools like MCW and RFU, you have to be small pooled in order to be considered for interview

I an not even in any pool. All it says everyhere is "under review" i am ready to give up hope and maybe look st smp/ post- bacc. Where and what-- no clue. 🙁
 
Has anyone gotten a huge boost in anxiety ever since the turn of the new year? Before, it was just a dull background level of anxiety but ever since the holidays ended, it's like it's become full blown nerves for me. I literally have that tingling nervous feeling every minute of every day. I actually do feel moments of panic come and go. Maybe it's because I'm about to get post interview decisions within the next week or two or because I know that the last wave of invites are going to come soon but it's getting really hard to deal with these feelings.

Sigh. 🙁

I get a sinking feeling in my stomach whenever I think about the possibility of reapplying.
 
3.6 gpa, 38 mcat. 1 interview, 6 rejections, 15 completely silent schools. Haven't heard back from any school since early Nov. Developed great rhythmic email-checking skill and anxiety level boosting exponentially.

Pretty much resigned to the thought of reapplying next cycle. When is the right time to contact the admissions office of schools you interviewed at and, subsequently rejected/waitlisted, to find out ways to strengthen your app? The worst part is the only thing I can honestly update for next cycle is my full time research experience. No changes to GPA at all...

Already have a number of rejections (I think around 5, I seriously stopped counting because I don't want to feel even worse about it) and 2 small-pools.
No II's. 👎

Contemplating what to do with life at this point. 😕

Weird time huh? I'm contemplating taking some science courses... just to prep for the worst. But then I think to myself... what if I get in? That would be a waste of money. But then I respond once again to myself and think... well, it is getting late.

Edit: yes, it is what it sounds like... I'm going mad.

Oh God it's a never-ending torture, this process. And now, with all this waiting there's so many questions going on in my head too! SMP? Retake MCAT? Switch careers? PA? Go overseas? And it goes on and on...
 
I have a couple interviews upcoming, but no acceptances yet. I feel like I should start prepping SMP apps (especially since a couple I'm looking at are due in a month and a half) just in case, but I am absolutely DREADING the prospect of going back to my LOR writers and asking for another letter. Even the nice ones I'm afraid are going to be like, "aren't you being overzealous?", when everyone on this thread knows that's not the case.

Tips?

I'm planning on doing something similar and I think I'll just phrase it like, "I'm still waiting on some schools I interviewed at to get back to me but I just want to prepare for the worst case scenario..." It lets them know that you actually do have a chance and you're not just in denial while also giving their letter a reasonable purpose.

I don't think that's even necessary though. Most of them know how hard med school apps are and they would more likely be sympathetic and commend your perseverance.

Another rejection today from UC Davis, sigh, one of my IS schools and top choices :/
 
I'm guessing all pre-interview LOIs at this point in the cycle are seen as desperation letters.
 
Two of my home schools (CA) have rejected me in the past two days. It stings. :cry:

Yeah, and maybe the adcoms are aware of this as well. I got rejected by Jefferson a week after I sent them a LOI/Update. It truly feels like a slap in the face
 
Anyone else resigned to the fact that the January 'II surge' is not going to happen? -_-

January II surge? Yeah right. All I've had since Sept = SILENCE (and a few rejections here and there)

same as you, got all secondaries except UCLA, and axed off by Davis and SD.

WAITING on Irvine, Riverside, and UCSF (lololololool)

Yeah, people said don't worry if you didn't get invites in October, November is the busy month for II's. Then November passed and people said December is when schools send out a bunch of II's before holidays. Then it was "wait until after the holidays and there will be a II surge in January." Now they are saying wait until second half of January. I sense a pattern... 🙁

Sometimes false hope isn't a good thing, so: the surge happened in August/September. That doesn't mean people won't get interview invites, but there most likely isn't going to be another surge, unless you're a 43 MCAT who applied on December 1st.

At some point we have to do the best with what we have, hope for the (realistic) best, and, for some, prepare for next year. Even if today's outcome isn't what we want, we'll get to where we want to be eventually! 🙂
 
Hang in there, guys! I posted for the first time in this thread around 4am 2 days ago (couldn't fall asleep, of course), and then got an II 8 hours later! So there definitely is still hope and I can feel the surge coming. Good luck to everyone! :luck::luck::luck:

I agree with Bear Armstrong about the false hope. I knew everyone is hoping for good news, but it's kind of annoying when posters come by saying they heard from a friend of a friend about a surge of interviews coming. Rather than hoping for what is most likely not going to come, it would be wiser for you guys to start coming to the realization that you just might not get in this year and making the necessary plans to apply next cycle (before it's too late!)

With that said, good luck to you guys that haven't received any acceptances or interviews 👍
 
I have a confession.. I panicked.. only have 1 II (next week at SLU).. so I last minute applied to UC Riverside.. then I looked at the secondary and regretted it... damn it!!

So at this point, anything may seem far fetched, so I think it would be fun to make positive predictions about what could happen over the next couple months. The cool part will be checking out how many good things actually happen to all of us. So give some of your best case scenarios.

Here are mine:

2-3 interview invites MD and 1 DO
1 DO acceptance within a month
1 MD acceptance within a month (already interviewed)
3-4 wait-lists after interview w/ at least one turning into acceptance by June

hahaha same happened to me! I ended up completing it though!
 
this will for sure jinx me, but i predict:

one more MD II

one acceptance out of that II or the waitlist i'm currently on by mid June. 👍👍

UCSF will eventually see that they made a huge mistake rejecting me and then give me a straight up acceptance with a full ride scholarship!!! :soexcited:

But to be more realistic, the best case scenario would be Dartmouth accepting me within the next month or two and then we can finally be together forever living life in the wilderness. 😍
