Another decision coming my way tomorrow... just keep busy, just keep busy, just keep busy

RE: (Bearintraining) "so did they send this to you out of a request for info or was this just sent out randomly? surprised I didn't receive one if it was the latter case."

Icck is correct. They were responding to an email from me. I sent them an e-mail after they rejected me from MD/PhD to check and confirm that my application to the regular MD only program was still in consideration. The email I posted is how they responded to that inquiry. I mean...whether it's specific to me or not, it doesn't matter at this point. They've made it pretty clear that they're not offering any more interviews. Sorry.

He also has a lot of reaches on his list. Even with those stats, that's taking a risk.

That's true, but given how good his app looks I would have thought one of them would have gobbled him up by now. :scared:

Good luck! My last interview is on Monday! I only have one waitlist to fall back on 🙁

Good luck to you too! I have an interview next Thursday so hopefully we'll hear some good news from these schools in a few weeks or so.

Two wait lists, a completed interview at a school with very few seats left, and my state school that's non-rolling. It's safe to say that I'm worried at this point.

You applied wayyy too top heavy. You have maybe one lower-tier school, which might reject you just because they'd think they were your safety and you're not from FL. If you don't get in this cycle, be sure to reapply much smarter.

Did Dr. Crowley look at your app and OK this school list? You definitely should have applied to some other schools. Off the top of my head, Temple and NYMC would have been good as they have a good relationship with CMU, and at least would be fair mid-levels. I think Maryland also accepts a lot of people from CMU.

Last interview of the cycle tomorrow! My last shot!!! Wish me luck!!!!

GOOD LUCK!! :luck:

Got an ii today, complete and silent since October. I'm pretty stoked!

Congrats!

I'm personally not looking forward to the next few weeks. I've just started getting those end of cycle rejection emails, and have a ton more to receive. Just so depressed right now, it's not been a good week.

Damn, that sucks. I've been getting a string of those emails too. I actually almost deleted the ii without noticing what it said.

How many waitlists are you on now?

Don't worry, stay positive. You've had a good amount of interviews and you'd be surprised how many people I know in med school that only got in after coming off of a waitlist between May and June.

Yep started getting them as well. All those silents will now be rejections. You are in a ton of waitlists and you should be able to get off of at least one. Correct me if I am wrong, but you haven an acceptance to a DO school right? At least you know you won't be reapplying next cycle🙂

So, it's officially March here on the East Coast, and I could get the decision from my favorite school any time between now and the 31st :scared: Plus, all those end-of-interview-season rejections are going to be rolling in.

It's weird... I've had ~15 silences since early Jan, with my last R being then.

After writing this they'll probably pour in tomorrow lol.

That's usually how it is for me. Complain about not hearing any news and then life decides to shut me up with a rejection. 🙄

Wow not even an II? When did you submit and how many did you apply to?
Submitted AMCAS on 9/7. Applied to 12 schools. Outright rejected from 6. 3 others I know are definitely done offering interviews (rejection implied). 3 others silent, and of these three others, my applications were complete on 12/16 (Tufts), 10/14 (UVM), and 10/31 (SUNY Upstate). Tufts is done offering interviews unless spots open up from people dropping out of interviews. UVM is still a slight possibility, but I haven't been small pooled there yet (which needs to happen before getting an II). SUNY's last interview date is 3/6, and so if they were going to give me an II I'd probably get it today...haven't gotten it. So yeah...sad violin music.

Oh gosh that sucks. Sounds like you're done for this cycle. Probably the late submission that doomed you.

But at least you know you need to reapply and you can make a plan. I feel that being in limbo by March (not knowing if you'll need to reapply or not) is probably worse.

A batch of acceptances went out today, and here I am with an empty inbox

ughhhhh PLEASE END THIS MISERY NOWW!!!! So I have 3-4 weeks until decisions from 2 schools roll in.. waiting to get off two waitlists.. hear back from another school in 5 weeks. Then I have another interview set up for mid-April...

argggggg I want to get into a school this is killing me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HOW do people manage to wait this long without losing it!!!!

😡😕😱🙁🙁🙁😡😱:scared:

today= officially stop panicking...realize going to have to reapply :thumb down
now onto deciding if i should do an ms program.

Sigh..I wish the schools I interviewed at were faster at making decisions. I have 2 schools that will take 2 months to answer and another school that will 4 weeks by snail mail. Waiting sucks.

But at least you know you need to reapply and you can make a plan. I feel that being in limbo by March (not knowing if you'll need to reapply or not) is probably worse.

True Dat. I was facing the prospect of having to do reapps while on waitlist. I'm glad that won't be the case now. Sincerely feel bad for anyone who is stuck in this sort of purgatory. This kind of uncertainty eats at you.

Doomed me? Thanks br0...thanks. And yeah...it sounds like I'm done, doesn't it? It shouldn't have made a difference I know of people that got stuff in later and did OK.

^ That's me! Limbo in March... uncertainty eating at me and all that good stuff! Lovely! Also,if it doesn't work out, never reapplying! HERE I COME, GRAD SCHOOL!

Add me to the list of souls trapped in Decision Purgatory 🙁

Finished IIs REALLY late (November...) and have yet to hear a single decision either way. Not even an interview invite. The only outright rejection so far has been Emory, but I'm still holding a smidgen of hope for a few in-state FL schools.

I've basically accepted that I'll have to reapply. This year was already my gap year though, so I'm feeling lost about what to do next year. Has anyone had luck with flat-out asking adcoms why they had reservations about their app and what needs to be fixed? I know my GPA was my weakest link (3.3 sGPA :scared: ) but I had multiple directors tell me an MS wouldn't help since it was all crappy basic science courses early on and my MCAT + upperclass sciences showed I "developed a firm grasp of the material."

Panic lurker here. Applied to 16 schools, invites for 7, rejections from 6. Complete and utter silence from the other 3. I did my first interview in January and my last is in two weeks, so I knew I probably wouldn't be hearing anything until March the earliest. I was right. I haven't heard from any of the schools I've interviewed at. Not. A. Peep. +pity+

I JUST NEED AN ACCEPTANCE!!!!!! :scared:

Chill. You have 7IIs, you'll get in somewhere unless you're totally psycho!

I am the one who should panic. 1 post interview rejection and the rest are crickets, despite many decision dates already having passed with no word from anyone.

Might as well just accept my fate. My gpa sucks, how could I expect to have a chance post-interview?

Summary of my interview season:

Great interview, minus the fact that I was high on cold medicine the whole time: Waitlist

So-so interview, whatever: Waitlist

Fantastic interview, interviewer spent half the time trying to convince me to come to his school: Waitlist

Comically terrible interview, literally something out of your nightmares, I wish I could go into more detail: Waitlist

IF THERE IS A PATTERN I'M NOT SEEING IT.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH

(well, it did say this is a panic thread.)

For each school I had one fantastic interview and one awful one. I just wanna get in SOMEWHERE!!! The worst part is, everyone on my interview day for one of my schools has heard back except me for 2/3 schools (so assume rejection or waitlist), and my last school is known for taking super long to make decisions.

Has anyone had to wait longer than average post-interview and got accepted?

I am sure you will be fine. Look at it this way, the schools didn't completely dislike you enough to reject/waitlist you at the decision dates. Which means you are still in the running. Yeah you may not be in the top tier of applicants on those dates, which is why its taking longer, but I'm sure you will hear back positive news from one of these schools.

Still no IIs! GO ME! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I am sure you will get in. You have four waitlists. Hopefully they are ranked waitlists because then you will know if you will get in. Come May 15th, the waitlists will move tremendously. All it takes is one.

Hey everybody, first time poster on this thread. I'm a reapplicant so the word "panic" is near and dear to me. I applied pretty late (around Sept) last year to 15 schools and had 3 II's, I got WL at 2 and rejected at the other. This year I applied ASAP to 20 schools and have had 6 interviews so far with another one this week. Unfortunately I've been WL at FIVE SCHOOLS and waiting to hear back from the last one. I'm still holding out some hope for that last deciison and my upcoming interview but I've also kind of resigned to the notion that I will find out my fate only after May 15. I was just wondering if you guys would happen to know how much WL movement there is at SUNY Upstate, Penn State, Tufts, Temple, Albany, SUNY Downstate, and SUNY Buffalo. I do my due diligence looking through previous years' sdn threads for the schools but it's always hard to keep all that information straight and I figure sdn is a good resource for neurotic premeds (myself included) who would know these sort of things. Anyways, I just wanted to gauge what my chances are, any help is much appreciated! Good luck to all of you!

With 5+ waitlists, I imagine you have a good shot at getting in somewhere. I would check the school specific threads from last cycle to see how much waitlist movement there is. I am waitlisted at Albany as well and they typically had large waitlist movement. However they changed their interview format to MMI and were able to interview a lot more people this cycle so it is difficult to say whether their waitlist will have typical movement or not.

SUNY buffalo I was told that nearly 70% of the class comes from the wait list. If you are on the middle or top third usually both those third completely get in. Check out the SUNY buffalo wait list thread from last year for some encouragement!

Three interviews down and I'm probably done for the cycle. 2 wait lists and 1 pending decision. Let the waiting begin.
