Oh yeah.. 🙁

I am supposed to hear from another school soon so it may be that, Also, the e-mails seem to go out in waves as said before!
 
I got my acceptance package on January 5th. I deferred last year, so I imagine I'm one of the first to receive it.

On the secondary website, they've closed everything but the status update page. I wonder what that may mean for those of us who still have yet to be marked complete. Only been waiting four months :/
 
I interviewed early November, but have yet to get an answer. The weird thing is that I recently received a thank you note from PSU for interviewing there. Did anyone else get this?
 
Just got the complete email! Submitted 9/4/12. Just glad I didn't get a silent rejection :nod:

Anyone else interviewing at this time?

Also, anyone who has recently interviewed have any advice? what kind of questions should i be ready for?

It's good news. You only get that email when you've been accepted somewhere. As someone who reapplied after getting waitlists, i can confirm it. 🙂Can't say if it's PSU or not but be excited!!! You're accepted somewhere!
 
And from what I remember, I think <10 people deferred. 🙂

All the best for your interview. Can you tell when your application was complete?
 
Regarding deferrals, I heard during my interview date that there were about ~7 from the previous class. If this is correct then the entering class of ~140 will have seven fewer spots.

By the way, I interviewed on Nov 14th and just received my acceptance packet today. Good luck all!

Wrong. You get it if you've been accepted OR have been waitlisted.

I was waitlisted at 3 schools my first cycle and never got one until my first acceptance my second cycle. So unless they've changed it in the last 2 years....

Most schools have a policy to run background checks on all accepted, wait-listed, and transfer students. The timing on these may be different, but I'm almost certain that any school subscribing to the AAMC background check program (Certiphi) does so on wait-listed students, also.

There are people over on this thread that can confirm this. It may be a new policy, not sure.

EDIT: Just checked the original e-mail. It says, "If you are placed on a participating school's alternative list, that school may request that a background check be procured." I guess it depends on the school, but I think that a lot of schools will check their wait lists, also.

From the AAMC site: "Certiphi Screening, Inc. External Link will procure a background report on early decision program applicants at the point of acceptance and all other applicants at the point of acceptance after January 1st. An e-mail will be sent to applicants by Certiphi Screening Inc., at the preferred e-mail address entered in the AMCAS application by the applicant."

Not sure why the e-mail is different than the website. It seems like a waste of time to check everyone on the WL though

I was on WLs last yr also and did not receive any background checks.
 
Well I'd suggest looking back at last years thread for PSU an seeing if anyone else got the background check for a waitlist. I was straight accepted so I'm not sure if PSu does it for WL or acceptances. I still say you should be optimistic and think its an acceptance. 🙂
 
I'm on the hold list and I didn't get an email
 
So from what I've gathered on this thread, if your were marked complete that means the admissions office has reviewed your application. What does the timeline look like for getting the snail mail "continue to review" letters or for an interview?
I'm super confused by this school so just trying to find out as much as possible.
Submitted 9/15; marked complete 12/18

Hey guys,

I posted this earlier on the thread but if you got accepted into next year's class, the first year students have made a fb group for the entering class of 2017 which is up at the link located below.

I received an II on Monday, 01/21/2013. I turned in my secondary in either late September or early October. Good luck everyone 🙂
 
I got the complete email on Jan 08, but haven't heard anything yet. No "continue to review" letter either. Anyone else in the same boat or possibly have any idea about what's going on? Btw, I'm OOS.

I just called, I'm still not marked complete, submitted some time in October. The woman on the phone basically said that once you are marked complete you have started the review process and sometimes it just takes time for the email or for it to be reflected on the status page.

I talked to the admissions office last wednesday and was apparently "very close" to being reviewed by the committee and I should hear from them "very soon." I interviewed Nov. 28th, so the 9-week mark is coming up very soon!

Anyone else hear anything?
 
Been on hold for quite a while. Guess it's a no go for Penn State. Would've loved to see the Children's hospital here.
 
I've been complete here since early January and haven't heard a thing. No "continue to review" letter either. Is this silent rejection? Anybody had a similar experience before?
 
I tried the search function in this thread for average stats but could not find much. Would anyone mind posting if they have?
 
Good luck to all the people that are complete. Interview is set for Feb 4th. Anyone else interviewing on this day?

Also any last minute tips from med students or people that have interviewed there before would be greatly appreciated 🙂

The applicant profile can be found on their website. 29 mcat, and about 3.71 cgpa I believe

Thanks. Found it on their website with some searching. They take a larger percentage OOS than I thought.
 
I got an Interview Invite here the other day for early March. I think imma take it since I feel like I will enjoy this location more than being in philly.

Does anyone know the stats on interviewed:accepted ratio for OOS students?

Also is the medical school inside the hospital.

I don't know numbers off the top of my head but i believe it's between 30-50% for all applicant. We have a significant Number of OOS, myself included but I'm not sure of the numbers for OOS

As far as the school, yes it's inside the hospital. There are 4 main lecture rooms and dozens of PBL rooms, a Sim center etc. I suggest you take the interview, my bias aside, it's a great school!

Gotcha thanks

Im holding an acceptance at Temple atm but not completely sold on it. PSU from what I'm reading seems like a great place to live (and cheaper which is a major "+"). I think ill take the interview since its impossible to judge a school from the internet.
 
Got the continue to review mail. What are the chances of getting an interview at this point?
