When were you complete?

Your MDApp stats say your gpa is higher? Is this true?

Don't mean to stalk, but I'm also 3.6gpa, 32 OOS, and I want an interview too!!!
When was your secondary complete?

OH, and congrats btw!

My app was complete on 8/2 and I didn't hear anything from them until the invite if that helps. And haha its cool I encourage the stalking. I put the info out there because mdapps has helped me a lot in this process and I want continue the trend. My overall and science GPA's are both very close to 3.6 (one is a little higher, one lower but I'm talking minuscule) so I just put 3.60 for both on my page.

Eeee!! I was complete just after you, so hopefully that means they'll consider my app soon!!!
And someone who was complete a few days before you got an II a few days before you. (All with comparable stats)

fingers crossed x490823908420934890 :xf:

No problem. Yeah, hopefully that means they're reviewing files in order of completion and you both will get interviews soon. Good luck! :luck: I'm really looking forward to the interview here and I'll let you guys know how it goes. Its scheduled for mid-November.

Oh don't you worry...I love sharing my excitement with fellow SDNers 😀

congrats to everyone who was accepted!!!

also, does anyone know if we will ever be receiving decisions via email? or is it all just via snail mail? I still haven't heard anything yet 🙁

Now I am dying to go home and check my mailbox. Do you live in California by any chance?

I am a NYS resident. I have been driving home everyday during my lunch break to check my mail. I can finally stop 😳

co.ngrats to everyone who was accepted!!!

Snail mail.

Not trying to sound dramatic but does anyone know when rejections are handed out? Are all decisions made within 4-6 weeks or is it just acceptances that given out now?

Pretty sure OOS is around 50k for all suny

Got it, thanks. I'm trying to figure out now if i'll be able to get instate tuition after the first year. I recall hearing mixed opinions on interview day.. no one sounded too sure.

According to last year's thread, they should be trickling in this week. I think acceptances are still going out, though, so i wouldn't worry yet. =]

You can apply for in-state tuition after the first year. There are a few requirements to fulfill, but the financial aid office should be able to guide you through this entire procedure.

Did anyone who interviewed in October receive acceptances? I was there on October 3rd.

I interviews on October 1st and haven't received anything. I think it will be a couple of weeks before we hear anything

I remember hearing that you can apply for instate tuition after the first year, but cannot live in student housing in order to be eligible. There may be more requirements than that, but that's one that I remember (sorry I'm instate so wasn't paying too much attention to these details)

Accepted yesterday via snail mail. Out of state, interviewed 9/19 for the record

yeah thats what they said--I think the office needs 12 month's worth of rent checks for proof of off-campus residency...i believe its a combination of a year's worth of rent checks and utility bills--it seemed pretty easy--you can probably call or email the fin aid office to find out

Hey guys,

I am interviewing at SUNY Downstate tomorrow morning. For those of you who have already interviewed, do you have any notable feedback from the experience? Any advice? This is my first interview, so aside from what I've gathered from reading up on the interview process, I don't really know what to expect.

Also, congrats to all of you who were accepted!!

Very easy interview here, very laid back. Smile, make eye contact, be yourself, take time to answer questions if it'll mean you give a more thoughtful answer. Nothing stressful

Thanks for the response!! 🙂 I'm glad to hear it isn't too intense. This school is one of my top choices; I really appreciate your input on what I should expect tomorrow!

Good luck with all your apps/interviews!!

has anyone gotten an interview invite here recently? if so what are the available dates ? thanks!

just got an acceptance in teh mail today. dont worry if you haven't heard back from here or other places. i interviewed on 9/11. i havent heard back from NJMS 9/13 (INSTATE), temple 9/26 interview, (drexel my status is has been sent to commitee and i interviwed around the same time as other people who got status changes 9/19 interview).

ALSO THAT WOULD MAKE ME OOS FOR DOWNSTATE. BUT I ATTEND UNDERGRAD IN NY.. SOMEHWERE.. lol

I interviewed on 9/10 and I'm starting to get nervous. Hopefully I hear something soon.

Hold for Spring Consideration. Interviewed 9/20. Just got the email.

Was put on the hold for spring consideration for the 2nd year in a row. Interviewed 9/24, OOS, and received an email instead of a letter.

Yup, received the same email. Hold for Spring consideration. Not too good.

So for those who were accepted. The top choice on the purple sheet is where we had to fill in our name if we wanted to accept the position, right?

I had a neurotic dream last night where I had them reversed 😳.

Yes haha. You're fine. You can relax now!

Rejected yesterday via e-mail- 38 MCAT, 3.9 GPA - the interview went very well. forgot to sent thank you letter/e-mail - could this be so important?

I highly doubt that not sending a thank you letter would break your chances of being accepted. How was the rest of your application?

When did you interview?

I highly doubt it. I think it has more to do with the interviewer. Whether or not he actually fought for you to get in or just didn't care enough. I felt that my interview went well too but I got placed on hold. Plus, my stats are nowhere near yours. Downstate is weird 😕

How did you know the interview went very well?

anyone have the stats for this school from the US and World News?

Downstate does not report their statistics to US and World News so you won't find any information about this school there.

Does anyone know if one can switch to NYS resident tuition after a year ? II today and I want to know if its worth going to the interview ...

Galatasaray you can change residency after the first year (scroll up for more details). May I ask what your stats are and when you were complete and if you are OOS or IS? I'm still waiting on an II.

I interviewed on September 4th - the first day of interviews. The rest of my application is pretty good - I have some research experience, some clinical experience, and excellent extracurriculars. Although I can't be certain that the interview went well, I remember having a very nice conversation, and having been satisfied with all the answers I gave. This is very discouraging to me, as SUNY Downstate, was one of my safety schools, though I think it's a great school and would have been more than happy to go there.

I treat none of my schools as safety schools. I wish I had the stats for that. -__-

They probably rejected you because they figure you are unlikely to attend.

Any current SUNY Downstate students here that would not mind me contacting them for more information about the school? I would prefer having a phone conversation, but messages are fine as well.

Thanks. 🙂
