I think the last interview is mid-December. Like I said, I got an invite on Friday last week so there are still some out there.
Only interview...and no prematch offer
I don't think I can take another year of this gap year monotony, but hopefully I can get matched here in February.
Does anyone know if A&M is receptive to letters of interest?
The director of admissions told us at interview that they were really conservative with their pre-match offers and not to count them out if you don't pre-match.
Yes they are
Don't count yourself out yet, I noticed that there haven't been near as many pre-matches this year and more than once person said they talked to admissions who told them that they are being conservative. Just the fact that you got an interview here puts you in great chances since they accept routinely 70% of interviewee's.
So who's going to the meet and greet on December 1?! Can't wait to meet all of you who have been accepted thus far. For the rest of you, hang in there! I'm sure you'll hear the news you've been anxiously waiting for soon 🙂
Me! I'll see you there!
Accepted at 1pm today via email. Checked the BAMF website and it says "accepted" in bold also. No way in hell did I think I would even match anywhere, let alone prematch. Craziness....
Congrats! Would you mind sharing your stats?Accepted at 1pm today via email. Checked the BAMF website and it says "accepted" in bold also. No way in hell did I think I would even match anywhere, let alone prematch. Craziness....
Woo! Go penndippody! I thought the same thing myself until I saw it! Hope to see you at the pre-match lunch!
Got em when did u submit your secondary?
Does anyone remember last year's Step 1 Average ?- cant seem to find it in my materials from the interview day. Also, I talked to the luncheon peeps and they said there are 32 applicant RSVP's for Saturday plus 56 additional guests. Just FYI
My packet came in the mail last wed I think. It was a thin envelop that had a letter of acceptance that was different than the email otherwise the rest of the paperwork was printouts of what was on the email. Did anyone else get a confirmation that they received the acknowledgement form today?
I just ordered an A&M medical school zip up from www.tamucom-store.com which seems pretty cheap 😀
Hey has anyone received an acceptance packet in the mail yet?!

I ordered a zip up from there too!! The maroon one! Hahaha!
I am 99.6% percent sure as well and have started pulling my applications.
my boyfriend
Do I send it to the general admissions email?
Anyone happen to know where to get TAMU medical schwag? I looked everywhere the few hours I was in college station and just could not find any gear. I did find a tiny website that sells 5 things but I find it weird that there isn't some place with a larger selection.
Anyone know what the curriculum is like at Texas A&M COM? Do you take one class at a time? Until what time are you in class each day usually (is it half days or 8-5)? Is lecture mandatory? Are they video recorded?
yippiekiyay-
I was wondering if you know if M1's have access to season tickets(football) and when the first day to purchase them is. How is your class make up? Do you get along with everyone in your class pretty well and does ranking make for a cut throat class? Can you throw out some nice places to live for professionals? Is the way curriculum set up allow you to have a life outside of school(ie friends/family/etc)? Sorry for so many questions 😀
No problem.. honestly!
Yes we have access to football tickets. I'm not sure how exactly this works cause I didn't sign up for it but I believe a M2 organized for us to all go in together and they group bought tickets. But I believe once you get your TAMU pin number you can buy even by yourself... so like July time.
Make up? race/age/sex? Were pretty diverse I guess... There are around 60-70% straight from college peeps and 20% with a year or two off.. the rest are late 20's/ early 30's with 1/2 late 30's early 40's. There are roughly 15 married students and (in college station for sure) there are around 5 with children/babies.There's 50/50 men to women. There are a good mix of races and cultures.. we have some international students too.
I get along with 99% of my class. The 1% is more just not my cup of tea rather than dislike. I feel over this year that we are growing more like family.. ie We had classmates over Thanksgiving close. We have a facebook group and our year and the M2 are constantly sharing helpful sites/ mnemonics/ flashcards etc ( we have a dropbox too).... There is no gunnerism (well bad gunnerism...we're still all hard working peeps but just not cut throat lol) We all vent with each other... and yes cry on each others shoulders (personally I'm not sure where I'd be if I couldn't do that on one my classmates at least every month lol)
We don't rank till 2nd year but knowing your scores and the class averages so far hasn't seen any cut throat tactics.. we usually just keep that to ourselves or to a few others. I think no one wants to make anyone feel bad if they do better so we usually don't talk about it...
I think most of us stay at the Presidio apts for the super ease (its 5 minutes to Anatomy lab and 10 min from the school) and the fact that it's away from all the undergrads but I'd shop around before settling on this.. I'll ask around for other recommended places..
Curriculum rocks... I love the integrated study. I have a family so yeah if I can do it.. everyone can. Monday exams suck for the 1st semester but next semester it should be more Friday exams, same with next year and boy am I looking forward to that! I think the way the have it laid out is awesome... so far I'm loving it!

Wow, Thank you for all that great information, it makes me all the more excited to be starting this upcoming fall! About the football tickets, when would we have to buy them or is the group bought tickets reserved for us for when we matriculate? I take it the TAMU pin number allows us to have our school email, so a long way to wait! I am glad the class is so diverse, gunner free and family friendly! Do you happen to know how many people applied to Baylor 3rd/4th year and how many actually received it? Is research readily available for someone that has 0 experience? Do you know when scholarships/financial aid come in the mail? I can't wait to be a part of the family and maybe will see you around!
Okay so for those of you attending the meet and greet this weekend, are y'all bringing anyone? I know the email said we are welcome to bring family and being that I'm a bit younger I assumed they meant parents. It just now occurred to me that many people are married...and they probably meant spouses. Thoughts?
Take whoever you trust and respect their judgement. This is a big decision and the more people you have with you help the better lol. I know many in my class who took parents to this and the M1 welcome in summer.
Actually we have to organizations that parent/spouses may be interested in.
Parents of Med Students group: where they make "care packages" for us with goodies before exams and keep us motivated throughout the year. Love them!
Married to Med Students group: this one is new and one my SO is super involved in! They have monthly meet ups where spouses get to vent and support each other... I think knowing they are not alone really helps- especially the parents! There are family events like pumpkin patch/hayrides in Oct as well as dinners/drinks.
