Rejected. Really thought this was a great school too...

**** just got a rejection from Tulane.. idk what to think of my app with 2 interviews and 2 rejections so far 😕😕 Maybe I will call them and find out if they can pinpoint anything...

I'm also 2 for 2. But I wouldn't call them just yet. They're bombarded with applications, so I'm not so sure they'll give you the best response right now. I'm probably gonna wait at least till December/January to call all my rejection schools..
 
Tulane automatically assigned an interview date which was the same date as another interview I already scheduled. I asked if I could have it rescheduled and was told they do not reschedule interviews anymore due to the volume of applications and that I would have to forfeit my interview 🙁

I then said I had read the following on the school's website "Every effort will be made to accommodate applicants wishing to change their interview date. Additionally, in recognition of the cost of interviewing, Tulane School of Medicine will attempt to accommodate those applicants trying to coordinate interviews with several schools."

And then I was asked why I needed to change the date. I was just honest and told them that I had an interview already scheduled for that date, and was told my app would be brought to the dean.

I don't understand why that was written on their website and was told otherwise 🙁, I hope they reschedule me! :xf:

Same here! Did you just reply with a short confirmation? I was scheduled for a 9/21 interview yesterday, confirmed, but haven't received a response to my confirmation. Did you ever end up getting one?

I'm scheduled for 9/21 too, and confirmed yesterday, and didn't hear back either.

Hey can someone tell me if Tulane is P/F or H/HP/P/F for preclinical and clinical? I've heard after Katrina it went to P/F but is it still P/F or H/HP/P/F (which is essentially A/B/C/F)? Thanks!
 
how do you check your status for tulane...I go to the website and it says basically nothing and there is no link to see any other information?

Can't.

Got rejected last week (or maybe the week before). Sent a letter of interest, but haven't heard back. I guess it was worth a shot.

It's P/F for preclinical and H/HP/P/F for clinical. You also get noted in your dean's letter what quartile you are in the class.
 
Debating whether or not to send a secondary to Tulane. I have a fee waiver from AMCAS but they only waive half of the fee, so the fee would be close to $70 for me, and I'm flat broke. 🙁 3.4 GPA and 31S MCAT. You guys think I have a chance? Is it too late?
 
virtuoso I am in the same boat as you. But imagine paying everything you have already, and not getting in this year because you didn't apply to enough places. The cost of that far outweighs the secondary cost of a few more good picks.

Rejected this morning, first of the cycle. Too bad, thought it would have been a good fit. Good luck to the other applicants
 
Rejected yesterday. Mediocre Stats, BOSS essays and Leadership. Shows that they only look at stats, but with the 10,000 applicants for 192 spots, the odds are deff not in our favor.

I don't think you can deduce that from your rejection... I've heard Tulane is super picky about ECs though. Good luck with the rest of your schools!
 
Rejected this morning too. Kinda expected it. Their median verbal is pretty high. I have an 8 in VR. Nevertheless I asked for feedback, I'd like to hear back.

Anyone else asking for feedback?

I don't think this is a stats game. I have a 3.5/3.5 32 (10V, 10P, 12BS). I am, however, a non-trad with many unique ECs.

If you're that broke, I really wouldn't for Tulane. Use the fee waiver/money on a less competitive school, maybe. Not saying you do not have a chance. I just think chances are very low for anyone applying to Tulane and your stats aren't the most competitive.

You must not have seen how low Tulane's median and 10th% stats are. If I had to pick one MD school that was more about ECs and fit than about stats, it would be Tulane.

Yeah, as many have said, Tulane definitely is picky with their ECs and it makes sense because the school is very much tied in with New Orleans and the really special service projects offered I think takes someone with a certain type of EC experience. However, the one caveat I will say is that the school is putting more and more focus on making sure students score 30 and above on the MCAT so that this way, the students they accept will have the skills to succeed on the boards.

Ditto on this. Kinda expected this rejection. My stats are 3.84, 3.76. 28R MCAT (10/8v/10). Have a masters in public health and other stellar ECs, but maybe not a good fit for the school.

Complete on 7/30. It's my first rejection, so it didn't sting much. What did annoy me was the wasted secondary fee.

Sorry to hear that man, good luck with your other schools! Man now I'm worried..I was complete 7/27 and haven't heard anything yet from them since the complete email.
 
So I was just reviewing my secondary before submitting and noticed this question: .List any leadership positions, in clubs or organizations, you may have held during college
.. I missed the "List". at the beginning and wrote a little spiel on my leadership positions. Just said I did A B and C which required tasks like G E F allowed me to develop leadership skills X Y and Z. I'm wondering though if perhaps I should take the extra stuff out and just List I did ABC instead. I don't want to look like I'm not following instructions, but then again I might just be reading too much into it... 😕😕
 
Got an II for 9/24 but haven't looked into the location in relation to the state. Will the school still be standing after Hurricane Isaac? I'm a little concerned!

Good point...my interview is 9/21 and I just watched a couple of clips from weather.com about how Isaac is pretty much headed straight for New Orleans. Hopefully it's not too bad...

They're only predicting 5-10 inches of rain between tues and wed right now. Classes are canceled those two days, but people aren't really evacuating. I highly doubt an interview next month would be changed at all.
 
I'm having a little trouble with the online secondary. I never received the application complete e-mail from them. I finished the secondary a while ago and made the payment. After I submitted it, I received a Thank you for Registering! message on the screen with my name and Transaction ID. Anytime I log in to the secondary page, that message pops up. Any ideas? Thanks.

Sometimes it takes a while to get the complete email. I submitted the secondary beginning of August and just got the complete email a couple days ago. My secondary page looks the same way but I'm complete now so yours will be fine.

I emailed them today with my confirmation number. Hopefullyt that will give me some clues as to my status. I suggest you do the same. Couldn't hurt either way.

Call them. This is the most efficient way to figure it out and they won't hold it against you. I GUARANTEE you that you're not the only to whom this has happened.

Thank you - I definitely would have ended up calling if I hadn't figured out that it was because I'm an americorps member. Thanks for the response/advice, though 🙂

That makes much more sense. Most apps won't let you submit without the payment!
