The interview is conversational and laid back. My advice is to just relax. If you have any specific questions, feel free to pm me.
 
i've been talking to a few of the medical students at njms about what their interviews were like. a lot of them told me 'you may not even really speak about anything health related'. is this true? for those of you who've had your interviews already, you mind sharing what sorts of things you guys spoke about?
 
I've had 5 so far including njms and haven't spoken about healthcare yet, even though I prepared for it each time. My interview at NJMS wasn't even an interview. My interviewer told me he liked my application and wanted to see if I was the same in person, so he took me on a tour of the hospital and we just had a discussion for an hour.

Brief conversation, interviewer said I had a strong application and that he'd definitely recommend me for admission, then we walked around the hospital including different wards and lab areas that pertained to my research and background. I feel like they went out of their way to pair me up with an interviewer who shared my interests.

Student interview was pretty standard/nondescript. I think they're optional but unless you have a really good reason (flight to catch, etc.) it's probably a good idea.
 
I interviewed two weeks ago and we weren't even offered student interviews. Our day was over after the tour at 1pm.
 
does this school actually send out a "your application is complete" email?
 
Just received an invite. Never got a "complete" email. Submitted App 9/17
 
Hmm.. It seems like there's no movement yet. I keep checking my phone for missed calls...
 
Hmmm strange... last year the dean was making the first calls on a Sunday because the 15th landed on a weekend. Weird that no one has heard anything yet. Ive heard the dean makes it a point to have a decently long conversation with each acceptance (10-20min?) about what you have been doing recently and what kinds of things you are interested in. Which means that people shouldnt freak once the phone calls start... it could take him a while to get to everyone. Best of luck to all 👍
 
just got a call from Dean Heinrich. Accepted class of 2017 !!!!!! complete 07/19.

Got the call as well! Yessss super pumped, very much interested in this school and all the great clinical experiences it has to offer.

i interviewed on 9/18 Hopefully they get to me by tomorrow, looks like their going in order

Anyone know when they start sending out waitlist emails?
 
congrats to those people who are accepted!! we have a facebook group going if you want to join. i think you can search it as njms class of 2017 or the link is on one of the previous pages. cant wait to meet my future classmates! i think there is usually a luncheon in november ish?
 
Oh wow November is so soon! I thought last year it was in January, though I could be wrong.

I've heard it's in November too. Most of the class is filled by Thanksgiving according to Dr. Heinrich so it makes sense.
 
Yeah, the luncheon is the Wednesday before Thanksgiving
 
Does anyone know when these calls will be going until? I interviewed on October 4th and I still haven't heard anything. I'm sure that the admissions office has their hands full right now, but I feel like my interview went really well, so I'm really excited & nervous about getting this phone call... Has anyone who interviewed in October or late September gotten a call yet? Thanks everybody.

I don't think anyone who interviewed past September 11 has heard... At least that is what I think is the case on the thread.

You interviewed two weeks ago, patience 😛

Most likely you won't be among the first round of admits. I think it takes two weeks for you to go to the committee so maybe you'll hear back in a week or two.

I interviewed on 9/18 and got my acceptance early morning 10/16
 
Has anyone who has been accepted received a mailed letter of acceptance? The dean called me on 10/15 and if Im not mistaken told me that I would be getting one on wednesday/thursday. So far Ive got nothing, dont know if I should be calling the admissions office. Anyone else?
 
I believe Dean Heinrich said that he was going to sign the letters around Wednesday or Thursday so I would assume that they are still on the way?

IS. And just got the acceptance packet in the mail today! Does anyone know if merit scholarship info will be sent out now or later on in the cycle?
 
No, I read in the UMDNJ questions from incoming new students thread that the information comes with your acceptance packet.
 
I interviewed on 9/26 and haven't heard back yet...has anyone who interviewed after me gotten a reply?
 
Nope, I don't think they have gotten past the interviews of Sept 18th. I heard somewhere (hopefully I am not mixing up schools) that they meet on every 3rd Wednesday of the month. Since they have only gotten to people with interviews through Tuesday, September 18th (the third Tuesday of the Month), this theory seems to have held up.

Of course I could be totally wrong 🙂 But in short, I don't believe you should have heard back yet.
 
Hmm, well one of my friends interviewed around 9/21 and she heard back on Tuesday, but I'm also not sure how often the committee meets. Maybe there were a ton of interviews at the end of September. Thanks anyway!

I just got my acceptance packet, and as expected, there was no scholarship information in it. I read in that same thread that they give out 7-10 full rides a year and that's about it, so don't bet on receiving a scholarship. We'll know about any need based aid in april i think.
 
I had my interview on August 30th and still haven't heard anything. I called admissions last week and the woman said that there has not been a decision made for me yet. It has now been over 7 weeks! I thought I would have definitely heard some sort of decision by now. Is anyone else in the same boat or know someone that is?
 
im in teh same boat. 2nd week of september.. she said this week might be waitlists.. but iono whats going on..

Got the email about the accepted students luncheon today. It is November 21st.
