I'm under the impression they have their class exactly filled at this point, so anyone who gives up a seat gives one of us waitlisters a chance. Am i right on this? Would be sweet to hear before May 15 too, but I'm not too hopeful
Congrats!! Mind sharing some info from your profile? IS/OOS, MCAT/GPA?
thank you!! IS, 31, 3.7 bcmp GPA
I'm not sure, but that would make sense. I have read that medical schools over-accept because they know there will be attrition from their initial offers. However, the message on the alternate list pdf said they extend approximately 40 offers each round. So it seems they are not over-accepting. Hopefully lots of alternate list movement then!so are they at ~290 offers right now or have they offered more? last year they accepted 500+ students for the 290 spots so if they are at 290ish offers there will still be a lot of movement. anyone have any idea?

I forgot about the rolling alternate list. They probably are above 290 then because some people have already given up their spots (some have even posted on here about it). I doubt they're anywhere near that 500+ number though. It's hard to get a real feeling off this website because only so many people post on here.If I had to guess I would say they are above the 290 offers because some students may have not accepted the offered seat through the cycle, allowing them to offer that seat to another applicant. So if their class is currently full at 290, they have made at least that many offers, and more than likely probably more than that. As of now I'm a fellow alternate list student. The way I look at things is are many students who currently hold a seat at Wayne, who also hold a spot at another medical school. I can confirm this from personally knowing many students there who are in this predicament, and are still deciding. The good news is as some of these students choose to attend other medical schools will give their seat up to one of us on the alternate list. This is both valid for In state and out of state applicants. May 15 is the deadline for students who hold multiple acceptances to narrow it down to one school. The week following that I would anticipate a decent amount of movement. There is still the likelihood that you could get called before if some applicants choose to withdraw before the may 15 date. Wayne is holding a second look day on may 2 do anticipate many applicants to make a decision shortly after that as well. Good luck everyone and I hope we can all hear some good news!
Finally made the difficult decision to withdraw my acceptance at Wayne. Good luck to everyone still waiting!
I've only been accepted at Wayne and alternate listed at MSU CHM, so is that why I wasn't invited to Second Look Day? I really wanted to go.
From what I have read here, Wayne only invites those holding multiple acceptances to second look day.

Those attending second look have the opportunity to write an essay for certain scholarship (they mentioned full-tuition). It only applies to those actually invited and attending.Does anyone know anything about the scholarship opportunity that was only extended to those who were invited to 2nd look?
I would hope so as that is likely a deciding factor in attending Wayne state.Does anyone know if the second look scholarship recipient(s?) will find out before May 15?
I called the admissions office before the April 10th release date, and they said that May 17th would be the next date after April 10th. It looks like kids have already given up their spots, so that would be awesome if it started tomorrow. Are you guessing it would start tomorrow or did you scroll through threads from past cycles?Do you guys think wait list movement will start tomorrow?

The May 17th response could honestly just be a default answer that the receptionists are told to give. I called the office almost immediately after I found out I was placed on the alternate list to ask when to expect the next release date. I'm sure a lot of other applicants did the same thing too. They could just say May 17th is the next release date because they know there will be spots open after May 15th, but they can't really guarantee any activity before May 15th. We've seen on this thread that kids are withdrawing acceptances, so there are open spots now. Hopefully the wait list movement starts tomorrow!Yes, older threads had many acceptances around this date but they were post-interview acceptances, not from the wait list. I'm hoping they start accepting soon, but if they said May 17, then I doubt anything will happen tomorrow.
According to last years thread there was some movement in mid May and also some in June, but not as much as seen in previous years. Factors that I think should be considered this year in the amount of waitlist movement we can anticipate is OU's slight expansion in class size, and also CMU's first year for accepting students. There are probably a good amount of students with acceptances to both and are debating between amount of scholarship offered and where they wish to attend school this next year. Just a thought, but some good reason for some us in-staters to stay optimistic.

I'm pretty sure I got accepted today. The attached decision letter from dstreet was just one page with a Word Art "congratulations" at the top right? I didn't realize word even still had Word Art. Am I getting punked by one of my friends or is this legit? It's been a long process and my trust is a little battered.
Hoping more emails/phone calls go out today! My girlfriend also got accepted yesterday afternoon, IS 29M 3.9cgpa
I have a feeling everyone with similar stats are probably at the top of the list right now..
