I live in the Highlands and it hasn't had bad. There are a mix of undergrads as well as families in the complex. To be honest I've had more issues with families than I have with undergrads. It's really easy to bike/walk to school from here.

As for availability I would probably start asking by April or May. Most all of the apartment complexes in the area have the tendency to fill up by early July latest (and at that point you don't have as many options).

Could you estimate (pm if you'd prefer) how much you pay for utilities/tv/internet there?

I would agree. during my tour (in sept so maybe they renovated) the computer lab only had mac computers

I interviewed in November and it was still Macs. The students (and the BSOM website) says they will be getting rid of those Macs by this Fall and students will need their own laptop to take tests, which will be held in the lecture hall.

The BSOM website (linked in my previous post) says that there is no PC tech support for med school specific stuff because their tech department uses mac. I've been wanting to see what all the Mac hype is about and I'm happy that I might finally have a good enough reason to splurge on an expensive laptop.

Great, thanks for all the info. Any chance you remember around when your second look day was? I haven't heard anything, though Debbie from admissions said we should be hearing about it soon (that was a month ago though).

Do you have any experience with Mallard/Ashton/Highlands in terms of how difficult it is to get a unit? Like should I be trying to get on a list now or will I probably be ok if I set something up during the second look day.

Aren't you on the waiting list?

Aren't you on the waiting list?

Yup. On the waiting list at several schools. Wright was the most recent, hence why I'm only doing research on it now.

Man, stil haven't heard anything snail mail or email! Interviewed 12/5 :-/

I have to tell you,...those who interviewed 12/5 are hearing back this week or have already heard back if they have been accepted. I sincerely hope you get good news this week. Good luck.

Just because you interviewed on the same day as someone else doesn't mean you will go in front of adcom on the same day. One person who interviewed on 12/5 might have heard back in 4 weeks, another might have heard back in 6 weeks depending on when they happened to be reviewed (adcom meets every 2 weeks).

What I'm saying is....if you haven't heard back and someone else on your day has, don't necessarily take that as a bad sign.

Hey just a quick question. I have my interview Mid February and couldn't be more excited. I didn't see this online but I'm assuming it is an open interview. Is that correct?

Oh man I been complete since Aug and haven't heard anything from Wright... Only that after an email they said my file is still under review 🙁

Don't lose hope! Stay strong!! My partner took the MCAT twice, applied twice (AMCAS 2x's! http://dkmg2azsloi0e.cloudfront.net/images/smilies/eek.gif), and took two year off in between... the money, the travel, the rental cars, the hotels, the cost of MCATs, the student loan payments, and the waiting, were sooo painful for the both of us. But, finally... she got in...thanks to hope and resolve,...and a ton of community volunteering!! I wish you all the best!! GOOD LUCK!

Same here!

Fellow SDN'ers, I still haven't heard anything yet from WSU and I interviewed 12/5. Is that normal? I have received nothing via snail mail or email?!

I called the office last week to ask if I've been reviewed by the admissions committee and the lady said no... I interviewed a week after you and haven't heard anything either but the lady told me that I would hear back in 2 weeks (next week). Hope this helps!

They're probably behind due to winter vacation.

Congrats on the email!!!!

Well, looks like i'll be calling Monday I guess? :-/

MedPR, I believe you were asking about biking from apartments on the other side of 675. There will be a new pedestrian bridge built by the start of the 2014-2015 school year (when you will be a second year). That will be nice for people coming from all the apartments on that side of 675 who want to bike or walk.

Any questions about the school, feel free to PM me. I am a little over halfway through third year, and I am still very happy with my decision to go to Wright State.

Darn darn... do you guys think the interviews are all given out? I'm OOS so I'm not banking on an II at this point so late 🙁

wright state interviews until very late (April), so no I don't think it's too late to get an interview.

Since their secondary was so brief, does anyone know if their receptive to LOIs? And could anyone inform me on how many OOS they interview and accept?

I'm not sure about LOIs but I believe the class is ~80% IS

I'm an OOS and was invited for an interview on January 8th. My interview is tomorrow. They probably aren't finished giving out interviews so don't give up hope quite yet! 🙂

Really? I don't remember that. I applied to BSOM because my stats are fairly low and BSOM has low averages. It's moved pretty high up my list though. It seems like an awesome environment and the idea of multiple clerkship sites has really grown on me. Plus IS tuition even for OOS is awesome.

Our classes are generally ~75-80% instate but the number of out of state students that matriculate here is growing every year.

We interview and accept a decent amount of out of state people as well. (Of the top of my head, I think ~100 of the ~430 people interviewed were out of state last year and I think they accepted like 80 of them). So being out of state isn't a huge disadvantage here by any means.

Is WSUBSM receptive of LOI? If so who should it be addressed to?

I emailed them and they said they don't accept application updates. They also said they're reviewing applications through the end of the month (February). I didn't specifically ask about LOI's though. I just have more up to date letters.

Has anyone been rejected yet? my app has been complete for a long time and still no word

Someone in the admissions office said they'll be reviewing apps through February. At this point I think I'm quickly approaching a lot of schools making what I've known for a while official.

Accepted via email!!!

OOS, interviewed 1/15

Congrats!! 🙂 That was quick. Is this your top pick? I interviewed at the end of January so I hope I hear something just as soon.

Thanks! This is definitely one of the better schools I got to see, and I'm very happy - especially since it's my first acceptance. I hope you get just as fast a turnaround on your decision.

Interview invite today! OOS, applied in July or August.

Anyone know if Wright has a Second Look weekend/event?
