I'm in the middle third group on the waitlist - any ideas on my chances? And when, if so, I would hear? I need someone to work a miracle, Wright is my first choice!

I got in today!! I was waitlisted and top third. Hope you guys hear soon!

did you get an email? how long did they give you to respond?

I feel like this pretty much sums it up:

No one is going to be able to give your 'realistic' chances of getting in. I know that is not what you want to hear but that is the reality. Every year the movement on the waitlist is different so saying that you have a x percent chance of getting off the "Top Third" would be misinformation. Just know that being in the "Top Third" puts you in the best position you can hope to be in in terms of the waitlist. Unfortunately, there is nothing really to do at this point but to wait.

I know from experience that waiting to hear from a school is really tough. But its true that no one can REALLY predict how the waitlist will move. There are way too many factors that can influence that. Typically, BSOM has ended up getting through the top 1/3 of the waitlist and part of the middle. There have been years where they have gotten to the bottom third. On the other hand, I know there was a year where they did not accept ANYONE off of the waitlist. So pretty much any conversation surrounding waitlist movement is merely going to be speculation.

Thanks...I was looking for just some general or historial information. I'm in the Top Third and just waiting...

Hi, everyone! I was accepted yesterday off the top third of the waitlist. I received the acceptance via email around 11am. Good luck to everyone still waiting!

I am in the top third of the Wright State Wait list, still waiting... Congrats to those who were recently accepted and good luck to everyone else, hopefully good news is on the way.

Does anyone know possibly from prior experience or not if each "third" of the waitlist is approached in order? Meaning, will someone in the top third of the wait list hear a "yes" or "no" before ANY decision is made on a middle third applicant?

Does anyone know what Wright State's policy is on deferring acceptance (keep a spot in next year's class without having to reapply)? I know it is a thing because I have heard of others doing this, and obviously the school would have to grant permission based on what exactly the plan is to do for the year (i.e.-humanitarian mission, medical shadowing work, teaching english abroad, etc...)

I don't mean to distract anyone anxious to hear back about the school's admission decisions but I feel this could be relevant to many who are not sure if they wish to jump right into medical school post bachelor's education...

thank you!

I heard awhile back that it is kind of all over the place in terms of the "thirds", maybe someone else has better insight.

Admissions will pull people off in the order that they are ranked on the list. So yeah they will get through the whole top third before anyone from middle third is accepted.

This is probably something you should just call up and speak with admissions directly about. I know there are some schools that are pretty lenient about deferring (at Michigan State all I had to do was send an email - not even with a reason). As far as I know this isn't something that Boonshoft really encourages or does frequently but I'm not really sure about like special situations and stuff. I would call.

does anyone know on average over the pst 2-3 years, how far into the waitlist did they get? Not numbers, but did they get into the 2nd or third tier of waitlist candidates?

don't know what is worse. Witing to hear or the feeling I had the night before the MCAT!!

Are we sure that the decision will be sent by e-mail? I only ask because in the past people have been called or received a hard mail letter, although things may have changed.

You get an email first and then a letter of acceptance in the mail. 🙂

I got in off top third today and I'm going to have to pass on the spot. This seemed like an awesome school, I hope one of you gets the spot. To all of those on wait lists there is still hope! Good luck everyone!

Not to be too gritty but do you remember what time of day you received that e-mail?

top third and IS...I'm realizing now that no news is bad news...I think I am out of luck...🙁

Woah -- it is WAY too early to be giving up, we had people coming off the wait list up until a few days before class started at the end of July. You're definitely not out of luck at this point.

For the list to be moving this slowly, I would say that for folks like myself that are bottom third of the list, we likely out of luck for sure. :-(

I'm top third too, but I'm admitted to a TX school. Either way, I won't be taking the MCAT again.

Anyone want or know of anyone who would want any MCAT study books? I have a ton...all the Kaplan, MCAT45, flash cards, etc. They're free to whoever wants them!

I'm 15-20min from Wright State, so let me know!

I know someone that needs them. Can you PM me? I'm about 10 minutes from WSU!

so quiet here....any movement at all?

I am sure it is temping to use these forums as a gauge for waitlist movement but I would really discourage doing that. A majority of people who are on the waitlist, most likely, do not even know what SDN is let alone post here. The only people who could give you information on how fast the list is moving would be the admissions department. But I really doubt that they give that information out.

So please just hold on tight. I know at this point in time, especially with the new application season opening soon, that is much easier said than done. But that is the reality. Looking on these forums to gain information on the waitlist is going to drive you crazy. Just try and stay optimistic but at the same time be prepared to face a rejection if that is what ends up coming. If you are reapplying that means getting your application, letters, etc. in order.

I know that was not terribly insightful. But I and the other students who post on here understand where you are coming from. We just don't want you to worry yourself to death because at this point in time there is nothing for you to do but wait. Good luck!

Thanks for the insight-its so hard staying patient but sometimes a reminder that puts things into perspective helps. Also, if someone is taken from the middle third of the waiting list could you please post on here? to get an idea of where things are going 🙂 thanks!

Withdrew yesterday... Good luck to whomever gets my spot!!🙂

Was offered admission off top third by email on June 24th.

I actually missed that email (house here sold incredibly fast & things have been crazy) ......& received call again on July 3rd.

Officially sent in my decline of offer.

Hope it goes to someone here!

I was offered a seat in the upcoming class today via phone. I was in the middle third

Anyone off bottom third yet? Or hear of anyone off the bottom third?

Anyone with housing and looking for an extra roommate should PM me. I have to find something pretty quick.

accepted off middle third yesterday also-declined because i am already going to Toledo, but hope someone else on here gets my spot! good luck!
