Hey guys,

For those of you who have been in contact with the Army recruiters for the past year or so; do you mind sharing your thoughts on how competitive HPSP is in terms of DAT and GPA?

I would really like to go for this; however, I fear my AADSAS GPA of ~3.2 3.3 overall/sci may be too low. My DAT is 22.

I plan to apply for it coming up here in Aug but just wanted to know if I'll be laughed at by the recruiters or have a decent shot. lol.

Thanks

I think they use your transcript GPA, not your AADSAS GPA.

Edit: As far as being competitive, I think you will be. They are going to love your DAT score. Just under 3.5 and a 22 got me in, and they made it sound like it could've been quite a bit lower. I think the AF is the only branch where a sub 3.5 hurts you badly, and before I dropped them, my AF recruiter was making it sound like I wasn't going to have a problem.

I had an undgrad GPA of 3.2 and a DAT of 23. No problems.

That's a great DAT score, and I believe an acceptable GPA. If you get in the game early, i.e. August like you mentioned, then I doubt you'll have any problem. Just keep on your recruiter if necessary and have everything finished and ready to go so if you get accepted on Dec 1, you'll be able to make it to the first boards. I say go for it; don't let your stats hold you back anyway.

Hmmm... interesting about the transcript GPA VS. AADSAS.

At my university I have a 3.77 (i've gone here for 3 years).

I did horrible in CC which drags the whole thing down. I had a working gap before I decided to go for dentistry; where, I returned to college on a mission to destroy the prereqs and my degree requirements!

Thanks for your input. The recruiters will be coming to my school soon so I'm looking forward to speaking with them.

I really hope this Army thing works out. Afterall, I want to be "Size: Legendary" lol
