2013-2014 Albert Einstein Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
so has everyone received a complete email within a day or 2? i submitted thursday and didn't get anything thursday or friday. If i don't get anything today should i email/call tomorrow?
Dude (dudette), relax. First of all, nobody calls about complete applications - like I said, they will email you. Second, most schools - including AECOM - take longer than 2 days to mark applications complete because most schools do that manually. Depending on how many applications they have at the moment it may take a while until they get to your application.

Has anyone heard back from student overnight housing accommodation?

Got a reply about two weeks ago telling me that their student were back on campus about a week ago but nothing since then.

Has anyone tried an update letter here? Is AE open to those?

It took me 2 weeks. I got the "Einstein: Secondary 2013-2014" email on 8/7 and the "COMPLETED APPLICATION" one today

I emailed them about this and no one replied and when I called no one picked up so I'll just ask here.

I only have a ochem, bio, and research letter in a non-science field. Since my major is BME I don't meet the letter from my major requirement. Does this mean I shouldn't pay the fee and apply? How adamant are they about their letter reqs?

Also, I've heard if you don't do a committee letter (my school doesn't have one) we have to send a letter from our dean or something? What's all this about? 😕

I didn't have a committee letter from either my undergrad institution or my post-bac institution, and below is the letter I received from them. The Dean's Office at my undergrad knew exactly what kind of letter they were looking for, and it took them only a week to take care of it.

Thank you for your application to the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

As you may know, post-bac applicants whose programs do not provide a statement about undergraduate good standing, must request a letter from the Dean of Students or Registrar at their undergraduate college affirming good standing status. Please check with your advisor at your post-bac program to make sure that such a statement was included in your letter. If not, kindly have a letter from your undergraduate college sent to the AMCAS letter writer service (Please see: http://www.aamc.org/students/amcas/faq/amcasletters.htm). AMCAS accepts additional letters for Einstein up until February 15.

Please let me know when this letter has been uploaded to AMCAS, So I can complete you.

We look forward to receiving your completed application.

Hm. Do you think this is only for post-bac students then? My school snail mails everything and it took my transcript 15 days just to get to AMCAS :/

I'm also worried about how adherent they are to their letter requirements. I mean I know NYMC for example is ok with you not meeting their "letter from your major" requirement but I don't know about Einstein.

You emailed and called them. I'd sit tight and wait for their response. I emailed them a question I had about prereqs in July and they got back to me by email 5 days later.

Yes. I emailed yesterday and got a host today.

Does anyone know why the AE website recommends to go to JFK airport instead of Laguardia, even though it is closer?

Southwest airline does not seem to be serving JFK airport...

I don't know why they say that but you can go to any airport in NYC area - JFK, LaGuardia, Newark, maybe even Westchester - and get to Manhattan by shuttle or other public transportation.

JFK has more direct flights... connecting flights were the bane of my existence back when i was interviewing- i still remember the pain of having to connect on flights over 4 years ago, especially if you are coming from far away like the west coast.

Sent in an in the area request on Friday and got an II today!! Today is amazing!!

To do this did you send an email to the admissions office?

Yep! Just a short message saying Id be in NYC. Glad to see they live up to their receptive reputation.

i submitted like 8/14 and still no complete email. anyone else in the same boat or is there a problem?

+1 I submitted on 8/14 as well.

All I got that same day was:

"You have successfully completed the Secondary Application.

Thank you for your interest in Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Click here for a printable version of your application."

I submitted on the 8/19/13 and still no complete email either.... whats taking them so long

Don't worry, I submitted before you did and I just got the complete email today 👍

edit: Submitted 8/11, to be precise

Is Philly close enough for an in the area email?

Hey everyone, I have a quick question.

After we set up an interview date and time, we do not need to respond immediately to the e-mail to verify it, correct? I believe we are supposed to e-mail or call one day in advance just to make sure there are no changes to the schedule.

The confirmation e-mail I received gave additional information about the interview day, and then it ended by saying "kindly respond to this e-mail". I'm assuming we only need to respond if we want to setup travel or housing details?

Sorry if this was a convoluted question, but I don't want to mess up my interview here. This is one of my top choices 😀

Best of luck to everyone else!

Damn....over two weeks just to realize my app was complete!? Well, better late then never I guess.
I am itching for an invite!!

Wow congrats! 👍 You're swimming in a pool of interview invites right now! What are your stats like (if you don't mind sharing). I'm still waiting for my first II.

Thank you!!! There is no way I would have predicted my cycle to end up like this. And yours will come rolling in soon ; )
3.8/32 nothing crazy, but I am a non-trad with a mosaic of experiences both related and totally unrelated to medicine.

Think I may end up being in the same situation. What did you have to do on your part to request this letter from your undergrad college? Do you have to add the 'author' (dean?) in AMCAS first and do the whole letter request form as with the generic ones?

I have almost identical stats as you 😀 but not a diverse set of experiences like yours.. I'm praying for interviews right now; I hope they do roll in soon! I keep checking my email and all I find are ads from eBay and cvs!

It's important to know what your favorite sellers have to offer... oh, and that you have a 25% coupon and $3 extrabucks waiting. 😉

I'm in the same spot. I suppose a lot of us are!

I'll be interviewing on October 29th! Anyone else with that date?

Thanks! This cycle has been a very pleasant surprise.

Yeah I'm jealous because it looks like we had similar age/stats/residency/submission time/etc. but I've only heard back from two schools so far! 😱 haha
