Waitlisted. Interviewed mid November.

Anyone know how waitlist movement is at Einstein? It's my top choice.

Waitlisted... Anyone received "high priority waitlist" status? And there is some waitlist movement from checking last year's thread.

yea.. interesting.

Personally, I interviewed back in late September so I'm pretty sure my interviewer has gone to at least 1 admissions meeting from September - now...
 
Spoke to admissions: "Many people will not hear from us today (Jan 15); do not assume the worst if you haven't heard from us today".

...I'm frustrated. Honestly, just send me an email so I can figure out where I stand
 
Waitlisted, interviewed early Nov.
I'm also curious about waitlist movement if anyone knows anything; this was one of my top choices :/
 
I called the MSTP office, they said the committee has met but they have not given out the names yet. So either end of this week or early next week for decision. *sigh* more waiting.

Is it fair to assume that there will be no more acceptances tomorrow? I feel "the worst" is referring to rejections.

I hope they email me soon. I'm really worried..

+1. The suspense is killing me. I'm scared that it's just a deferral in the rejection pile if you haven't gotten a waitlist or acceptance yet...

A good amount of people here have stated that Einstein was their top choice, and I'd really like to know why. Like for real. Its a good school, but I don't see anything unusually great about it for it to be someone's TOP choice (my understanding of top choice is a school that one would take over every other acceptance).

Because, quite honestly, whatever pros you might list for Einstein are common to many other schools. Even in NY alone, there are many strong programs that just make me scratch my head when I see someone placing them "lower" than Einstein on their list. Then when you include all the other amazing programs across the states, this conclusion becomes even more baffling.

I might be missing something, but the only real reason I can come up with is some personal connection to the school. Anyone wanna help me out? I would really like to know before I decide to withdraw my acceptance and perhaps regret it in the future. Thanks!

For some people, it may be their top choice because they don't have the numbers/quality of app to get admitted into a higher ranked school. Einstein is one of my top choices and that's because it's one of the highest ranked schools I was able to get an interview at. For people with amazing numbers/app, I would assume Einstein is not their "top" choice unless they do in fact have some sort of personal motivation to attend Einstein.

I feel like there are a few people that may be personally passionate about going back to the Bronx. I know that I was there for a few years and I really want to work with the population there. I'm sure there are a lot of people that grew up there!

Why would you make your decision whether to withdraw or accept an offer based upon others' opinions? It seems to me if one has any doubts about a school, one should not consider a future at that school. Otherwise then, it seems, you are taking a spot from those whose top choice really is AECOM; that is, without sincere intent.

As you said, I'm not trolling either, but this is my off-the-cusp response.

To echo what some others have said, I think for many of us who are very unlikely to get interviews at top schools, Einstein is an exciting, competitive, and sought after school that will provide us a strong, respected medical education in comparison to other mid to low-tier schools. Add in the diversity of community and exposure you'd experience living and working in the Bronx and the proximity to Manhattan, it's an attractive choice.

I've noticed that you've had interviews at Harvard and Stanford, been accepted to Johns Hopkins, etc. That's just not going to be true for most applicants, so we're excited about the schools that are more in our range.

For me, as well, I had a wonderful interviewer who had a similar background in service and social justice work and he let me know about AECOM's strong social justice and community service community and focus, even within the curriculum. That's one of the top things I'm looking for in a medical school to enroll in, so, knowing that AECOM seeks students who care about meaningful community partnership is important to me.
 
Accepted this morning as well - chose to attend another school. Hope someone else gets my spot!

Dude, give it up; to refresh your recollection you've already been accepted at: Hopkins, NYU, Icahn (Sinai), Dartmouth, and Brown. It's a no-brainer: 3 top 20 schools and 2 Ivy Leagues. Someone else is just dying for your Einstein seat. By the way, congratulations and good luck on your other pending applicaions.

Accepted this morning! The email came around 630 eastern time. Awesome way to start the day! Anyone thinking of starting a facebook group? Really excited to start meeting people as I'll more than likely end up attending.

Edit: Interviewed beginning of October. Good luck to everyone waiting--I hope you all hear good news soon!

This guy is kind of a dick. Does he want to hear how awesome he is?

Einstein has a really good match list for competitive specialties. (http://www.einstein.yu.edu/education/md-program/admissions/match-results-2013.aspx) 6 people in derm last year, 17 in rads, 4 in urology, 19 in EM, etc.

I think match list doesn't reflect that much about the school itself. What specialty you end up in is ultimately up to how much are you willing/capable of memorizing for the boards and personal preference of specialty
 
Also haven't heard anything. Interviewed late October. It's definitely among my top 2-3 schools that I've gotten interviews to. But the fact they sent out a burst of acceptances, followed by a burst of waitlists makes me think a burst of rejections will include me tomorrow morning. (though I know admissions said that wasn't true).

What's impressive is the programs they got into among the competitve specialties, not necessarily the fact that they matched into them in the first place.
 
I interviewed on I think the second day interviews were held way back in the beginning of September... I know it was my first one but I thought it went really well but not sure what to think now that I didnt hear back today. Its been over 4 months I really just wanna know whats up :/

I also don't have any acceptances yet...just feeling super depressed that I have to basically...wait for a rejection?

Ah, I see! So its a difference in our definition of top. I thought you guys meant like you would take Einstein over ANY school you applied to if given acceptances to all of them. Gotcha. That totally makes sense!

Agreed! I am quite passionate myself about addressing some of the issues that arise in low income communities. From my experience, the Bronx is rife with them. I could see this being a driving force for other applicants with a particular interest in the Bronx.

My intention was not to withdraw or accept based solely off of others' opinions. I was concerned that I was overlooking something that others might have helped make me aware of. Once informed, then I would certainly make such an important decision on my own. Contrary to your post, I think it is quite important to get consider multiple opinions before making such a decision. And you did not come off as a troll at all haha. I totally got where you were coming from.

Thanks! Indeed I've been quite fortunate. But I'd like to avoid being carried away by name alone. I am well aware that prestige does not always correlate with quality of education. I was worried that there was something I didn't know of that was unusually unique about Einstein (such as Yale's "Yale system") that put it so high on you guys' lists. I don't think that was the case anymore, so I am indeed likely to offer up my seat to another. But this is still a great school as I could tell from my interview day! I'm sure y

Haha, I tried my absolute best not to come off that way. Guess I should've tried harder. That really wasn't my goal. I was just curious. The match list is pretty cool. But I've yet to meet a school that didn't take pride in their match lists. Again, this is common to many schools. Presumably because, to get into ANY U.S. medical school, you have to be pretty damn motivated. Not so hard to believe then that this motivation often culminates into great residency program acceptances. This is also largely a factor of the student, not the school as mentioned by Sydnicate. But, nonetheless, its great to hear that Einstein recruits such talented students!

The late interviewees, however, were either put on HPWL or regular. It also appears that you can be moved to the HPWL from the regular one, according to someone's post in last year's thread. Don't quote me on anything though, I'm only getting this info from last year's thread, I'm in the same position as everyone else.

I'm currently a 1st year at Einstein and we have a few really active facebook groups so I'd recommend getting one going if you're interested. We have a general purpose page, study group, and mnemonic group. If people have any questions I'll try to come back and answer. Congrats to those accepted, can't recommend the school highly enough.
 
So it looks like there weren't any rejections today (or at least on here) or news for the December people yet...Congratulations to everyone else!

I know how you feel man, happened to me at another school. I haven't heard back from Einstein yet, so I'll probably be waitlisted as well in the near future
