General Information
The Norton Sound Health Corporation (NSHC) in the Bering Strait Region of remote northwest Alaska operates the Norton Sound Regional Hospital in Nome. The Bering Strait Region encompasses a vast pristine 44,000 square-mile area extending to the Russian border in the Bering Sea. Nome is the central community of the Bering Strait Region with 3,500 residents. NSHC operates clinics in 15 outlying Alaska Native villages on the coast, including the islands of St. Lawrence and Little Diomede in the Bering Sea. About 81 percent of the Bering Strait Region’s 9,300 people are Alaska Natives, composed of Siberian-Yupik, Central Yupik and Inupiaq. NSHC has a workforce of 450 employees, 325 stationed in Nome and 125 living and working in the outlying Native communities. The Behavioral Health Services (BHS) program of NSHC includes a staff of 35 in Nome coupled with its village-based counseling programs in the outlying Native villages.

I don't have an answer to this, but several of my sites--even if they originally stated deadlines of 12/15--stated in their confirmation e-mails that they would notify on or by 12/13.

Gah! This process is maddening. Still waiting on 10 sites (2 of which I am pretty sure are "no"s)...and I've heard from 14 so far (10 interviews, 4 rejections). Obviously I'm happy and super thankful to have a bunch of interviews...but still...every minute that goes by without a call or email causes my stomach to churn a bit more. BLARGH! Ok, done whining now.

I'm thinking that it will be either Friday or Monday. I have several sites I'm waiting to hear from. I'd like to take a break from the neuroticism that this whole process is causing, so here's to hoping that they will notify on a business day. lol

Me too! I was thinking maybe invites by 13th and rejections by 15th? No idea... I have a strong feeling though that Dec 15th might actually mean Dec 16th.

A person in the cohort above me matched last year with only one interview. He speculated afterwards that the sites he applied to were very competitive. You sound like a solid applicant. I would guess that there are just so many other solid applicants applying to the same sites as you. I hope you get good news from the sites you are waiting on!

Confirmation email?! I would have loved one of those!!!

5 of my 15 sent e-mails confirming my application was complete... it was nice, but it also meant that my OMG-AN-INTERNSHIP-EMAIL panic response started early 😉

Just checked, 2 of those 5 said 13th (I thought it was more), 1 said 15th, 1 said 16th (but I already heard from them). The last just said "mid-December."

I hope most notify by Friday.... it would be nice to get some quality sleep this weekend

Email from Ancora Psychiatric Hospital, personalized, they WILL NOT be accepting interns for the 2014-2015 year due to losing so many licensed psychologists (retirement, moving, etc), including the director of internship. They started they are losing people over the next 18 months so they're trying to interview and get new licensed psychologists ASAP for the 2015-2016 year. Bummer...

Same. I can't believe it's almost 4pm, and we're almost through another day without a single notification (at least for me). Still waiting on 10. I thought they would trickle in this week, but it's looking more like I'm going to get plowed over by news all at once.

Me too! But 9. I thought I would hear from like two a day this week, but I will probably get them all at once too, at like 4:55 PM on Friday. I am very thankful for the interviews I have, but I just want to know about the others!!

I got a phone call the morning of December 2nd. A girl in my program got an invite from them the Wednesday prior so I know they are slow and staggered in getting back to applicants. I'm not sure if they are still making calls but so long as you haven't received a rejection, it's possible you still get one!

Well, after 2 days of nothing but a lone rejection, today was a vast improvement. Invites from Mt. Sinai-Elmhurst (e-mail) and Beth Israel in NY (phone). My sense is BI farmed out the calls, so if you didn't get a rejection, here's hoping your call is still coming!

I did a whole processing/reprioritizing last night, and so was actually prepared and ok for more rejections, but I definitely like this better. 😉 Still waiting on 15, but now feel like I can handle whatever way those 15 break.

Congrats to all who got good news today and condolences to those who didn't. Next two days will probably tell us a lot, and hopefully most of it will be good!
