You don't need your committee letter to be sent in before your can start doing secondaries. I think a lot of people don't have those in yet, so all is ok!
 
My app will be submitted tomorrow, but I think I really messed up by not having my transcript sent earlier. I thought I'd wait until the abroad class I finished a week and a half ago showed up (any day now) and then send it so it'd be current. I thought since the June 1 date was delayed until June 10, it wouldn't make much of a difference. I was clueless and didn't realize how many applicants sent their transcripts in so early and how many are already verified. My GPA is a 3.89 so this one class really didn't make much difference. I'm also freaking because one of my recs has not been submitted to Interfolio. I'm going to talk to professor tomorrow. (I've already followed up twice...SO frustrating!) Am I going to be way behind the 8 ball? I suppose the good news is that my TMDSAS was verified fairly early and the secondaries have been submitted.
 
somehow I think the creation of this thread this soon in the process has upped the usual level of neurosis in SDN to levels unheard of. :laugh:

The only place I have seen it is on the general AMCAS video in their home page. You can scroll through to find the place in the video where they show it

Don't worry about the committee letter, chillaxbro. Mine was sent out early August last year, I was marked complete at that time, and I still considered myself an early applicant.

Just try to get your transcripts in as early as possible, and start prewriting those secondaries.

AMCAS just sent me an email saying "Your 2014 AMCAS application has completed processing." Is that verification? Or does that just mean they got my money?

Anyways, I'm panicking hardcore already. I haven't left my bed in days, I just vary between sleep and crying, occasionally letting out a muffled MCAT fact that I memorized. I only get up to go to the bathroom, but there's almost no point as I haven't eaten food in five days. My electricity is about to be shut off, someone keeps knocking on my door every day at 4 pm, and I constantly shake. I'm pretty sure that my room has become smaller since I started to panic ten days ago. Since I curtained off my window with dark felt cloth and shut off all my alarm clocks, I only find out what time it is from my occasional forays onto SDN.

Not sure if serious or sarcastic. If serious-- seriously, man, go outside and forget the app cycle and SDN. You can't do anything about right now, and it's a nice, sunny day where I am.

If sarcastic- well played, sir ( or madam).

Log in to see if you have an official GPA now or not. And calm the **** down😀😀😀
 
Just found out school I'm waitlisted at has filled their class.
No more waitlist movement unless someone in the class dies.

Ok, so, transcript was officially mailed yesterday! So it seems like I'm now in the mid-late July pool though for getting verified because of this. Will I still be considered an "early" applicant? I'm just freaking out a little since I put so much effort into getting everything done early and now it seems like that may have gone out the window...

Sent a transcript request to my school last week, ordered one official paper copy to be sent to the AAMC, and an electronic copy sent to me in order to fill out AMCAS. Already received the electronic copy. This morning I got an official copy in the mail and thought "Oh, that's nice, they sent me an official transcript." *puts it down and continues making breakfast for ten seconds, then it hits me* ".....they sent me an official transcript". Now I'm freaking out thinking they misunderstood and sent me BOTH the electronic copy AND the official paper copy that was supposed to go to AAMC.

It's okay! Call them (whoever it is, academic services usually) right away to clarify if the official transcript was mailed to AMCAS. If not, ask them to send it right away and ask if they can rush it for you. You'll still be fine either way.
 
... So what are we panicking about?
 
still waiting on transcripts that I requested 2 weeks ago. I am hoping to submit tonight as well, need to look over my application for the umpteenth time...

I am now panicking that I will not be part of the first batch of applications sent to schools on June 28 because I submitted extremely belatedly at 10:39 am :laugh:.

(Realistically, I do know that they'll probably get to my application and verify it sometime in the next 17 days).
 
You guys think it's a good idea to hold off on submission for a week? I have a first author pub under review and I should be hearing back any day now...It's been 8 weeks since I submitted and their average time is 4-6 weeks. Worth it? Not worth it? I HATE DECISIONS
 
I think it would be better to submit now, and mention that you submitted a publication for review- and then update

It's just that I'm not sure what the outcome is going to be. There's a very real possibility that the paper will be rejected or a major part of my contribution will be removed, which will demote me to a lower author. I'm not really sure how people approach this since it might be awkward if "first author pub" turns into "6th author pub" or "no pub".

You don't have to mention authorship on the publication on AMCAS, but you can update the schools later if you are made first author.

Don't mentioned the first authorship part then, say your lab has submitted a paper with which you will have authorship in.
If you submit in a week you will not be verified until late July
 
I guess I am kind of panicking. I was waiting on my term grades to submit my transcript. It was only sent on Friday...sigh

Yeah just list that you have a publication submitted, but don't list authorship yet. This is what I'm doing, although my two manuscripts will be submitted next month lol. Makes for a good update on a secondary or later as well.
 
I have some advice for ALL applicants. Try your best to remove yourself from the process, Write and apply to the best of your ability, but separate your emotions or every single day will be a drag as you wait for secondaries, then interviews, then acceptances. At the end of this an acceptance may not be guaranteed and think about that from the getgo, you'll mitigate the emotional damage if that ends up being the case, and still be grateful and happy if you do get accepted.

I'm going to go against the grain here and say delaying a week won't be a big deal. If everything else is in place, you get verified by July, and can get your secondaries done in a quick turnaround--you'd still be in the early batches of applicants to be marked complete before the end of July.
 
Gonna proofread everything one last time and submit my app in the morning. Then this weekend I'm going yo play The Last of Us until I beat it.

Yeah, I was thinking that too but meh, there's no debate now. I talked to my PI and it turns out there's only a small chance that it's going to get accepted without revisions.
 
You know what's worse than getting a post interview rejection?
Losing your interview invite for a job that will make or break your gap year/reapplication cycle to someone else because you happened to be on vacation when they wanted to call you 😎
 
Just submitted my app for verification. Freaking out about any typos or missing sections now! I must have looked over that entire thing 5 times over the past two hours.

So I fedexed my main one and it got there yesterday apparently although I should probably add at least 2 days for them to get it from the main office to the right location..

Also I was an idiot and didn't realize a form existed when I requested a summer transcript from another school so I re-requested that with the form on Monday just to be safe.

A random note -- AMCAS needs to get better hold music... 👎

I guess it's time for my first actual panic post in this thread. I'm really getting nervous about this because I don't have the reapplicant advantage of knowing the system before going in. It's like I'm going down an unfamiliar road again because I'm shooting for MD/PhD this time. I don't know if anyone feels this but I'm getting all kinds of self doubt that I'm not good enough or I might make some huge mistake and become a 3rd time reapplicant...What if my stats aren't high enough or my essays aren't done right (not many resources for the MD/PhD essay)??

Sigh, I'm getting really scared to submit my application. :scared:
 
So I'm not taking my MCAT until July 25th, so my scores won't be out until August 27th. I already submitted my primary on the 10th, and I plan to submit my secondaries ASAP, but how bad is that MCAT date???
 
Does anyone know what the last day is to submit to be in that 28th wave?

Probably already passed. In previous years, it was around the 10th.

This year the first day to submit was the 10th so I doubt even all the people on the 10th will make that first wave
 
How many schools are you guys applying to? I haven't submitted yet, hoping to do so today or tomorrow.... So... I thought I had a good list of 25 schools and now it's like 40 LOL I keep adding schools b/c I want to give myself a better chance + the "what if this school likes me? thought.

I know I am ridiculous, but it's because I'm panicking. Which is why I'm posting it here.

There's no "wave". June 28th just happens to be the first day that things are sent out and the stuff after that is just sent out to schools as it is received, usually automatically.

As long as you're verified before June 28, your app will be sent along with everyone else on that day pretty much. So you can gauge how late you can be based on last year submission vs verification graph.
 
Yeah but its too late, think about it guys, June 10th was about the time you could submit AND be verified before June 28th.

This years apps opened up on June 10th. Now let's estimate that the same amount of people would have applied between June 4th and June 10th, are now applying all together on June 10th. The only difference is , AMCAS is behind a week in terms of verifying apps- meaning, Even the people that submitted on the first day may not be verified in time.

Not to mention, every years apps seem to increase
