2013 - 2014 Psychology PhD/PsyD Interview Invite thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Does anyone know if the counseling invites for UMaryland-College Park have all gone out already? I spoke to the admissions head in charge of the psychology dept and she indicated that they were not done being sent out, but the one interview day is February 7th so I can't get too optimistic anymore... If you have heard back from this school and can message me your POI, that would be really helpful. Thanks!
I cannot say for certain, but they most likely have all gone out since UMCP Counseling does a both a preliminary phone interview and then an in-person interview. People have posted about both phone interviews and then in-person invites, so I would be surprised if they have not contacted everyone already.

Would this be the place to post acceptances or should we have another thread? I have gone on a couple interviews and am anxious to see if others are receiving acceptances or just the same radio silence I am. Plus I have seen a couple acceptances go up on TGC.

This. I would be an advocate for a new thread entirely. Not that I am volunteering as tribute or anything (I think someone could do a better job managing than I).

I think in the past there has been a separate thread.

Just an FYI: I emailed the PGSP-Stanford PsyD Consortium and they said all interview invites are done individually and on a rolling basis, so they couldn't tell me when I might receive one by. On the bright side: I'm not rejected (yet)!!

I got my second interview invitation! Yay:soexcited:
But it's on the same day as my BC interview! They said I can change it to Wednesday but it's "logistically" difficult! Any advice about what I should do? Should I ask BC if they'll change my interview day? Or should I just ask to go on Wednesday even if it is difficult?

Good luck, I've met some wonderful Adelphi people.

I have a question regarding interviews that I don't think warrants a separate thread. One of my invites is for a very new Counseling Psych program that just started up a couple of years ago. The POI is a perfect fit and it's fully-funded, but because the program is so new it's not APA-accredited yet. Additionally, I recently received an offer of acceptance to a fully-funded (APA-accred.) Counseling Psych program, so I'm tempted to withdraw from the non-accredited Counseling Psych interview to save money. I also have ~10 other interviews coming up, so I feel like I'll still have other options. Thoughts?

Is there anyone here that could claim the Louisville counseling acceptance on TGC?

Actually - I heard that some people have contacted a previously accepted site and said something along the lines of "I have recieved another interview that conflicts with the interview for this school. Unfortunately, my second school is not being flexible in rescheduling the interview. Do you happen to have any alternate interview dates for students with conflicting interviews? You are one of my top choices and I plan to attend the actual interview date if there are no other options, but I thought I would ask." Obviously all of this would be phrased professionally and written with a little more tact.

Others may disagree, but with so many options (and one acceptance in hand) I would not go to a non-APA accredited site. This is way too risky IMO.

That's a great way to state it. I'll call Adelphi and see how difficult it really is and if I have to, I 'll contact BC! Thank you much!

I agree with fallen625. Even if the program is a great fit, it is a big risk to go to a non-accredited school. If you have an acceptance in hand plus 10 other interviews, I would use my time/energy resources on the other interviews. YMMV, of course.

Edited to add that you could/should also find out where they are in the accreditation process, that way if you are really interested you know what kind of timeline they are working with.

I've also received an invitation to interview at U Mass Boston - YAY!!! For anyone that is waiting to hear back from them, my POI is Liz Roemer. She sounded really friendly on the phone 🙂

No problem! It's Paul Nestor. Best of luck!

I named Liz Roemer and Sarah Hayes in my application! I hope my phone call is coming soon! Best of luck to you both 🙂

Dang - Got computer-yelled at for having too many characters in the initial post, and then accidentally lost the School and Combined info. Please PM me any School psych and Combined program interviews to help me recreate. Sorry for anyone who freaks out 😱

Hi!

Has anyone heard back from UMBC, VCU, or the University of New Mexico for clinical child Ph.D. programs?

I saw that someone posted a rejection on the grad cafe but I haven't gotten anything yet.

I haven't heard anything from UMBC either! Hopefully we hear good news soon! If someone else got a rejection and we didn't, there's still hope 👍

I just got an email from University of Hartford. They extended an interview invitation last week for february 14 but just now decided to let me know that my application materials were all in and will be reviewed. Anyone else?

As far as I can tell nothing has been sent out yet. I'm also waiting to hear. According to their website (midway through the applicant brochure) it says that all applicants will be notified one way or the other about interviews by February 7th. So I'd suggest waiting until then before contacting your POI.
