2013 - 2014 Psychology PhD/PsyD Interview Invite thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Does anyone know anything about UMBC's clinical Ph.D. program? They categorize their program as a "human services program" - I'm wondering what I can expect from that? Do they have a good reputation? I'd appreciate any advice! (PM me if thats easier!)

When did you submit your yeshiva application? I'm trying to get an idea of their turnaround.

I submitted my application on January 21st. I believe that they look at the applications on as they come in because I saw on thegradcafe that there were other interview invites weeks before I got mine from people who submitted their apps early. I would say that their turnaround rate depends on how many applications come in at a time!

Long Island UniversityClinical Psychology, PhD (F14)Interview via Phone on 3 Feb 2014A3 Feb 2014
  • Phone call today about Feb 8th interview

So I believe there is still hope!

I'm the one who posted the informal invite to MN; that is, my POI let me know in advance that I would be receiving an official invite when they were sent out. However, I haven't yet received said invite. Someone who works in the MN clinical department previously commented that everything there is very specific to the POI. I also know a number of individuals have confirmed rejections from MN by checking their online app.

So, to synthesize...if your online application doesn't have a rejection, and you had a phone interview you haven't heard back from, you still have a shot if your POI is simply waiting for the official invites to be sent out.

Hope that helps.
My roommate just got the email from the DCT. He had long phone interview quite a few weeks ago. Invited to Welcome Weekend.

I haven't heard anything from TC. I applied to the clinical program. I think interviews for the counseling program have been sent out, but not the clinical. I'm not positive though. I hope we hear something soon.

I haven't heard about counseling yet.

Thanks for the update. Unfortunately, I am in a limbo state for UM because I have received neither a rejection status nor a phone interview.

Yep. Looks like official invites are going out now.

Can anyone elaborate on the University of Florida Clinical and Health Psychology rejections listed on TGC? I figured it was a soft rejection when I didn't get an email last week, but I also haven't received the "mass email" rejection or snail mail that have both been posted. Were they from POIs? Thanks!

I'm assuming you mean LIU Brooklyn. I inquired about interviews and received this email on Jan. 29:

"Applications are currently being reviewed and any additional admissions activities (e.g., interviews, requests for information, etc.), will occur by mid-February."

I can't see how interviews are on 2/8 if they're still reviewing applications. Maybe whoever posted that on TGC meant LIU Post. At least that's what I'm hoping!

I also got neither an interview or rejection from them. I wonder what's up with that. Anyone have insight into that?

If anyone will be interviewing at Arizona State University or UC San Diego (Phd Clinical Psych) programs, please let me know!! 🙂

Hmm. I thought that the only LIU PhD program was LIU Brooklyn...and ya it's totally weird that they are still sending out invites for interview dates on 2/8 and 2/15 but hope is a good thing, and it seems your email confirms this, so YAY...i think.
(I do admit I am slightly confused as to why you would want that TGC post to be POST and not Brooklyn as it means that whoever they are are still calling people)

Good luck!

I love your quote by the way! Hope is always the way to go!

If the interview is on 2/8, I want it to be Post because odds are they're not going to call 4, 3, 2 and 1 day before. If it's a typo and they meant 2/18 or 2/28, then I'm back to hopeful 😀

Honestly, this whole process has made me confused about what I'm feeling (and thinking) at times! Too many things to think about! Hope we get invites in the next few days!

Oh, haha. that makes sense then. I do know for a fact though that interviews for LIU Brooklyn PhD are 2/8 and 2/15 :/ but they apparently are still calling!
Fingers crossed.

Has anyone else received an invitation for Pacific U? The anticipation is killing me!

Has anyone else received an invitation for Chatham University PsyD program?

Greetings all. What does it mean if some people have received concrete rejections from a school, some have interviews at that school, and I have heard nothing either way. Am I still in play? Thanks.

This is a little late, but...

School Name:
Lehigh University

Does anyone know much about Lehigh's reputation for counseling phd? I'd really appreciate it.

I'm in the same boat with some of the schools I applied to! I too wonder what it means. Do they have a wait list for interview invitations? Should I remain hopeful?

I'm in the same boat as you! Haven't received an interview invite, nor have I received the "mass e-mail" rejection. I plan on calling the program after class to see what's going on 🙂 I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!

Just called University of Florida's Clinical Psychology secretary and she informed me that not all interview invitations have been sent out, so there is still hope!!

I think this is because in the invite email it states that we have until February 10th to RSVP. If you haven't responded by then or decline interview they will invite others to fill the spot 🙂 so I assume invites may still come until a day or so after the 10th as long as people decline.

My first year of applying I heard absolutely nothing until I got official rejections late on in the game, even while others had already received rejections. I have no idea why- maybe interview waitlists? Maybe just depends on if you call and find out, or at what speed whoever sends out rejections/updates admission statuses processes the rejections?

It looks like this one has not been posted yet. Sorry if it has, super excited and this was totally unexpected!

School Name: University of Nevada, Reno
Date Interview Invite Received: 1/4/14

So I just spoke with someone at Colorado State and they are still reviewing applications and will should be notifying within the next two weeks....keep your hopes up....

Hey! I'm new to this forum situation, so please excuse me if I'm doing this wrong.. I'm just wondering if anyone has heard from Utah State or UNMC about their applied behavior analysis programs? Thanks!

Yup! But I got an early interview to work around my schedule, so I'm going there March 3rd.
I got an email for an interview request from them last week...I don't know if they're still inviting...Good luck!!!!

Did you both submit your applications early? I submitted mine in early December. I tried calling them today but the GA has been stuck in a meeting the whole day! The person who spoke to me indicated there might be a second round of invitations going out this week, but my self-doubt is telling me otherwise :nailbiting:

Can anyone on here claim the U of Miami counseling psychology post on TGC? Can you PM me who your POI is and who called you?

Hello all. Has anyone heard from PGSP-Stanford PsyD lately?
I'm trying to gauge if it's time to throw in the towel.

Early December for me as well… though if they're telling you there may be a second round of invites, I'd take them at their word.

I'm trying to gauge if it's time to throw in the towel.

I emailed them a week ago and was told 2-3 weeks for final invites. Still, I went ahead and made my west coast travel plans on the assumption I'm not getting an invite at this point. :-(

I got my app in by early January...I don't know how they do it though if they maybe go by track or last name or date of application? I'm sorry, I wish I could be more helpful!

Has anyone heard from Wisconsin-Madison's clinical phd program? Do they not do interviews? Haven't seen anything posted here or on tgc. Anyone know anything about their admissions process/timeline?

I've been wondering this same thing! I've looked at previous years here and on TGC as well and haven't seen anything about interviews, just acceptances and rejections. Very strange...

**Correction to my University of Nevada, Reno post. I was notified 2/4/14 not 1/4/14

Official Yale rejection received! First official rejection...woohoo!
Um, they received 10,600 applications??? If I worked there, I would have just thrown out half the application and started from there.

If anyone would like, you can PM me about Chestnut Hill interviews.

I applied to UWMadison. I emailed the graduate coordinator and he said faculty make the decisions to interview. So he wasn't able to tell me whether or not interview invites were out. I am not sure if should email my POI...

My POI at University of Miami (counseling psychology) is going to call me tomorrow. I'm not sure if it's a phone interview or she just wants to give me more details about Interview Day. It wasn't really clear from her email. I'll let you all know after I speak to her.

**I also meant 3/1/14 interview day for Reno interview. Was way too excited when I posted to be thinking straight. (Not that it matters since I see someone has already posted the correct information).

Anyone have any info on Columbia clinical phd or St johns phd? When will they be sending out invites? Etc.

I am sure this is exactly what happened based on a certain GPA/GRE. The only way they could do it.

For those of you who emailed directors/POIs and asked what you should improve on to apply again next year- how did you word these emails?
