Ugh, guess no invite for me! I thought I was a really good fit too 👎

This is a really good time to remember that
1) Until you hear "no" you really don't know. Yes it is hard to wait, but truly it is a large process not under anyone's control and one person's news is not your news. Sites send things out in a range of ways and over a long time sometimes.
2) "No invitation" feels like rejection but it not factually a personal rejection of YOU: sites can't know YOU from an application. They have sorted applications looking for the best "fit" with who and what they need for their most-likely training cohort. MANY factors go into that (also over which you have no control and limited perspective). Speaking from the site side of things, there are always many candidates we'd like to meet but we have to limit numbers of interviews and good candidates do get missed. It is a far from perfect process. This is a good season to haul out the DBT texts and practice Radical Acceptance.

Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health (Canton, OH)
Invitation
Mass email on 12/8
General Track
Interview dates offered - 1/5; 1/9; 1/12 (all have morning and afternoon times have 4 interviews slots per morning/afternoon time).

They initially sent out a mass email with no attachment, subject line or body and CC'd everyone (So I know there are 21 of us invited). :ninja: Then, another blank email went out with the subject line Doctoral Internship Interview Appointment. :eyebrow:Finally, another mass email went out with the dates, times, and number to call and schedule.

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
Track: Behavioral Health Integrated
Invitation to interview
Mass email notification on 12/8
Interview dates: 1/9, 1/16 and 1/23

CONGRATS! I hear Philly is an awesome beer town (obviously important to me), and I know folks who have been through the program at CHOP and loved it. I applied to the Peds track, but haven't heard back.

Has anyone heard from Texas Children's Hospital? Or University of Tennessee Health Science Center?

I believe someone had posted they received an invite from Tx Children's/Baylor. Personally, I have not yet heard.

Same here. Have not heard either way. Seems like there have been a few people that reported getting interviews from them, and their dates lined up pretty well with what they did last year. I'm still holding out a little bit of hope, but not much at this point.

wow congrats! I hope I get one too! 🙂

THERE it is:

UCSD/VA rejection, form email with name inserted. I applied to positions #10, #11, 14. They make it very clear that they will not give individual feedback on applications.

Best part is that they "believe in giving early notification to the applicants whom [they] will not be able to consider further so that they can make appropriate plans." I'm guessing that's relative to the 12/15 suggested deadline, not their own notification deadline of last Friday. 🙂

12/8/14
Central Regional Hospital
Invitation (via mass email)
No track specified (although I applied for the Neuro major focus)
Interview dates: 1/12, 1/15, 1/20, 1/23 (will offer phone interviews if in person not possible)

I got this too! I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little surprised because I interviewed with them in phase II last year. Just goes to show you nothing's guaranteed...

I hope tomorrow and next week bring good news to everyone!
I'm still waiting to hear from 8 or 9 sites .......anybody else still waiting to hear from the majority of their sites?
If you count places that sent out invites (but from which I did not receive an invite or a rejection) then yes and my numbers are similar.

Yep! I think this is more typical than those getting a ton of early notifications. I personally have heard from more of my sites than many of my cohort (I've heard from 6 of 15). Most of my sites have notification dates of 12/12 or 12/15.

Am I the only one who feels like responses from sites had been coming at a decent pace (not a ton, but at least 1 or 2 a week) up until now, and now that there should be (theoretically) much more news from sites, there has been nothing? It's been crickets over here. Totally the opposite of what I'd expected.

If you include sites that have already sent out invites, I'm waiting to hear back from 13 sites (6 already sent out invites).

Does anyone have stats for how many interviews applicants typically receive proportionate to number of sites applied to? I have a really low number of interviews :/

it was like this last year too.

per the 2012 applicant survey (http://www.appic.org/Match/MatchStatistics/ApplicantSurvey2012Part1.aspx)

"3. NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS: Applicants submitted an average of
16.3 internship applications (see question 15), as compared
to 16.0 applications last year, and received an average of
6.2 interviews (see question 17).

17. How many interviews (telephone or on-site) were you offered?

Mean = 6.2 Median = 6
SD = 3.9 Mode = 5"

If you only count acceptances or rejections, I've only heard from 4 of 25. I've semi-written off another 5 though so I'm not sure.

Rejection from Appalachian State University Counseling Center

This changes everything. I haven't gotten an invitation or rejection from Appalachian yet. I'm confused. Does this mean there's hope?

Wow, 25?! That seems like so many to organize. Though I think I read someone else saying they applied to 33 earlier in this thread. Definitely don't envy all those cover letters!

My program encouraged us to apply to 21 - 25. Based on their stats that is the range with the highest acceptance rate (84%). It was a bit of a handful. However, I applied to university counseling centers so it was actually pretty easy to basically make a cover letter template that I could customize for each site. Only one of my sites required supplemental information that I needed to add extra anyway.

That makes sense! My program strongly encourages 15-17, possibly due to a few other factors though. It seems to work, as the program has a very high match rate (hopefully not jinxing myself). Interesting how variable it all is.

Anyone else get a non-commital "you are still be considered, but you're not invited for an interview. Oh and please rank us." email from OK Health Sciences Center?
