I also need some advice, If I responded to an invitation for an interview with date preferences on Monday and have not heard back yet, how long do I wait to contact the site to see about scheduling? Has anyone else been struggling with this? I don't want to pester because I know scheduling can be difficult but it does make it hard for me to schedule other interviews....
...if it was Monday, personally I'd call. But I understand the dilemma.

I'd given up hope for UNC because others heard about my tracks several days ago - but got an invite today!!

Date - they had you list preferences on cover letter and I got my 4th choice (Jan 23) but works out fine - would have made it work whenever it was!
Track - TEACCH & CIDD

I applied to the Women's Health Track and haven't heard a thing. I ranked four dates on my cover letter and already had to schedule another interview on one of those dates. What happens if they contact me and offer me an interview on that date?

I had to do the same thing for South Shore...if they offer me an interview on the day I had to schedule, I'm just going to call them and ask if I can move it to the other offered day. :-\

I guess that would be the only option. I feel like sites that have us rank dates on the cover letter (which was tough because I do not even know what I am doing tomorrow) should try to send their invites out early on in the process.

I applied to the same track and haven't heard anything yet either. I have had at least two sites where I had to rank order interview dates as well on the cover letter -- it wasn't a big deal. The first one assigned me my second choice, and I was already booked that day, so I told them and they rescheduled me for another date. The second one asked us again which three of the days we preferred and then confirmed the date I chose via email (which was different than the one I originally listed in my letter). So hopefully it'll be fine.

This makes me curious how much sites expect us to know the DSM 5 and if using dx from IV-TR is adequate enough. Almost all the brochures I saw (granted some were a tad outdated) talked about using DSM-IV-TR diagnoses at their sites, and I would imagine most sites would be in the same boat that we all are - slowly trying to integrate. Because I guarantee the 5 was not out at the time any of us took Psychopathology.
The entire country is walking the line on this one and many states are holding with DSMIV while they sort out various ACA/compliance issues and wait for ICD 11 to be finalized. Do not stress on this difference beyond knowing the basics about some of the changes introduced in 5. It is unlikely to be a focus in any interview, I believe. More important is to demonstrate that you understand basics of differential diagnosis and (if it is a dx specific kind of site) that you know the relevant issues for that diagnosis. (So if you are looking for sites on where the autism spectrum is central than the DSM 5 changes may be more important to know). Most sites will be interested in how you think about diagnosis as a process I believe.

I'm still waiting to hear from them too (clinical child-community & CIDD)! Good to know there is still hope!

Has anyone not heard either way from the Richard Roudebush (Indianapolis) VAMC? They sent out mass invites and rejections for all tracks a while ago and I still haven't gotten anything:shrug:

Some of my recent rejection emails have been kind, others have been blahhhhh, and one received today was just rude. Specifically, the subject was "Notification of No Interview". Talk about being blunt +pity+lol!

I'm glad that I've been able to balance them with my invites! Today was full of rejections, however, so I'm looking forward to lining up a few more invites within the next week.

What!!! That subject is insane.. Seriously, what's the thinking behind that? Rip everything off like a bandaid? How very psychologically minded..

I'm really sorry that happened to you. What site was it? PM is OK if you're not comfortable posting.

I got the same rejection email today. I actually appreciated the bluntness -- in my mind, it's better to know immediately so I don't have that brief moment of hope before reading "We regret to inform you..." halfway down the page. Rip that band-aid off!

I also got this message. I'm sorry, but if we're required to be professionals in this horrible process, the least that sites can do for us is have some tact when giving us bad news (via mass email, nonetheless). It's sort of like breaking up with someone via text message. Just don't do it.

Make sure you are checking your spam folders! This one ended up in spam and I didn't catch it. Luckily, the training director called to make sure I received the email. They had let us know in the email that if we didn't get back by 5:00 today, we would miss out and they would move on the list. :/

at least it wasn't a post-it.

Now I want to know! Which site did this?

So, interview at Spring Grove Hospital coming up next Wednesday? Does anyone have any experience with this site? Externship? Internship? Fellowship? Heck with this process I'd even take a former patient. Anyways, anyone have a scoop on the process they feel like sharing?

Good luck to everyone!
