2014-2015 Virginia Tech Carilion Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I hope you weren't the last person! That being said, already re-submitted. Loved this school

Congratulations to all accepted to this amazing program! For those of you on the waitlist, I know all of that raging anxiety is unbearable right now, but hang in there! In a few weeks many of you will be sitting in your first medical lecture (hopefully at VTC) and over the next few years you will do things that you would not have previously believed yourself capable of accomplishing. Med school is a bugger like that. It will set the bar so unfathomably high just to teach you how good of a jumper you can become. Anyways for those of you moving to the Roanoke area, I think many of you will appreciate the sampler city - one of everything- experience the valley has to offer. For you, I give you my Top 5 things I miss the most about Roanoke:
5. Wasabi's sushi - Order the Sumo roll, thank me later
4. Salem Red Sox Baseball - $9 for a seat behind 3rd base dugout, better experience than a movie
3. Hiking the Appalachian Trail - McAffey's Knob is one of the most beautiful sites on the entire trail
2. All of the Music! - Roanoke Symphony, Bedford Community Orchestra, Floyd Fest, Elmwood park concerts, First Fridays, Fiddle Fest, Blues Bands at Blue 5
1. Downtown Roanoke on a Saturday moring - The market, the art museum, the indoor butterfly garden at Center in the Square, Chocolate Paper!
Also, when you are working nights and if you have time, take the opportunity to sit in a waiting room between the 9th and 11th floors on the front side of memorial hospital to enjoy the sunrise/sunset... it's quite spectacular! Also quite spectacular from the Mill Mountain Star.
