2014 Ortho Interview Dates

Just a question or some of you ortho hopefuls: how much debt do you expect to have after paying for programs like Roseman or PENN, which charge 100K per year?
 
Does anyone have a Pitt interview on Monday Oct 28th that would be willing to switch to Friday the 25th?? I would be eternally grateful!
 
Can anyone please switch Louisville interviews? I am currently scheduled for October 18 and need to switch to October 11. Please message me.

For me, I currently have $0 debt, I am expecting to have $100K by the time I finished UPenn. I also money conscious who are not blindly wasting $15K for 30+ schools. Others probably different
 
Does anyone have an interview at Loma Linda on Wed, October 23rd and would be able to switch it to Thurs, October 24th? Please PM me if so. It would be much appreciated.

No, business casual is fine for the social if it is the night before (different story if it is right after the interview on the same day). Just be yourself, they are interviewing your personality and hobbies at the social to see if you could get along with them, not your accomplishments. Too flashy and they will already have negative impressions of you.

I do have a question for you. Given that a typical private dental school these days will run a student ~400K (including interest, at the time of graduation), and given that the total estimated cost of becoming a Harvard-educated orthodontist (per the website: http://hsdm.harvard.edu/academics/programs/orthodontics ) is ~240K, that comes out to a grand total of ~750K.

How are current graduates paying this? Is this a reasonable amount of debt for a graduating orthodontist? How much can an orthodontist expect to earn?

There is a current thread here on SDN entitled something like, "Is ortho worth 750K of debt?"
Well, is it?

Please comment on this.

lets say dental school is 400k, ortho school 240k so you got 660k....those payments alone will be who knows how much maybe 3k a month? If you buy a house at 200k thats another 2k a month and if you somehow manage to buy a practice lets say it is 700k so thats another 6k a month. 11k a month at minimum. Overhead in the practice will be about 60% so if you produce 1 million you take home approx 400k then taxes taken out down to 260k or so. At maximum you will be making probably 120k and that is producing 1 million a year owning the business. Thats just one bare bones scenario....it all depends on how you live too

Can you explain for the match a bit. I am just confused! Should I just start ranking now, or after going to the interviews? is there a deadline for match?

By Oct 25th, the Match will have sent out instructions for submitting Rank Order Lists and obtaining Match results.

On Nov. 4th, the Match will open the ROLIC system for us to begin ranking programs where we received interviews.

Nov. 22nd will be the deadline for submitting your Rank Order List.

Dec. 4th = the big day.
 
Has anyone heard from these schools: Washington hospital center, Houston, or Howard?
 
Has anyone received any information on the OSU interview, when the social is, how long the interview day is, etc? I want to book flights but I'm not sure when we should be there. Thank you.

It is recommended that you register for the match by Oct. 1st. You're quite late. It's only like $60 or $90. Get it over with. Didn't you tell the programs your match #? Good luck man.
