if people got an interview invite from a school that I applied and I didn't get the interview, does that mean I'm not gonna get interview from that school in this term?
If I see someone get an interview to a school I applied to and I don't get the call/email .... I cross it off and assume its gone. Appears most school give out all their interviews in aburst. Although it is possible if someone has a conflict in scheduling and can't make an interview they may fill the spot with another interviewee.

Anyone know if schools are doing mid week interviews? I have an eery feeling that some invites are going to start conflicting.
I was curious about the same thing do I checked random dates from last years and there are definitely programs that do the midweek thing

mostly, yes, although some programs give interviews in episodes or cycles. And you might be on a waiting list, in case someone cancelled!

Nice work Dent, that's good to hear! Hoping this week will be eventful.....
Looking forward to missing a ton of school for these interviews, will be a nice break.
although I am nervous with plane tickets, they are getting so much more expensive these days
I heard UIC interviews are Oct 3, 10, 17 and 24. They are still reviewing applications

Seriously! This is going to be an expensive ordeal. I'm just viewing it as an investment I suppose.
Only if you get accepted, investment it is, last time I spent so muh money, no matching

I understand how you feel, I applied to 35 programs last year, got 4 interviews and didn't match. This year I applied to more non-match programs, with a total of 42 programs, and hoping for an early acceptance. Good luck to you Blissonearth! Hopefully this is our year to shine!!

Thanks for doing that playa2652.
What is everyone doing with their phones in clinic? Ie how do you handle taking an interview call? Let it go to voicemail or run out like a banshee into the hallway and answer?
Switch the drill to your left...keep drilling. Take right glove off and answer the phone.
no, if you are accepted prematch the program director will ask you to withdraw from matching
I did this and I got burned. I got accepted to a non-match program at Northwestern University and the director asked me to withdraw from the match. I listened to him and withdrew from the match. Two months later (in December), the director notified me that the university board decided to close its dental school (and all of dental residency programs) permanently. He said could no longer accept me as his new resident and returned my deposit.Hypothetically if you are granted acceptance to a pre-match program can you stay active in the match and rescind the acceptance to the pre-match program later? Or is the first acceptance to the pre-match program predicated on withdrawing from the match?
My dental classmate, who also got accepted to Northwestern the same time with me, fought for it and the neighboring program, UIC, offered him a position. I didnt fight. I decided to do a year of GPR and re-applied. When I applied the second time, I got accepted to another non-match program. I had to withdraw from the match again. I know a person who also got accepted to this non-match program. She accepted the offer but still turned in the match rank list. And She matched to another program. She later had to withdraw the acceptant offer at my non-match program and went to the program that she matched at. If she didnt turn in the match, she would have been my co-resident.

Was that Graber?
No, I believe Dr. Graber was already at UIC during the time when I applied. Was that Graber?

You guys are lucky to have cell phones. When I applied in the late 90s, cell phones weren't very popular and they were very expensive. I had to buy an answering machine with the remote access feature. Every 30 minutes to 1 hour, I had to go to the nearest paid phone, put in a quarter, and called home to check the messages on the answering machine. That's how I found out I got an acceptance offer. I felt like I won the lottery after finishing the phone conversation with the director, who offered me the acceptance. What is everyone doing with their phones in clinic? Scandalous
That's a pretty good story Charlestweed. That takes cojones de acero. Does anyone have any stories of someone who got burned by doing this and it turning out badly? After hearing this, I'm ready for some more popcorn!

No kidding, great stuff!
I remember that feeling - seeing that you had a voicemail from an out-of-state number and feeling nervous yet excited that someone might be calling you for an interview.
How much do residency applications cost now? Back in my day, $100 an app was considered expensive but I wouldn't be surprised if ortho residency programs charge $1,000 or more now just for the app, and thousands of applicants would still apply!!!

Per school ranges, I would say between $75-200 depending on the supp app fee. What gets expensive is the short notice before interviews, plane tickets, hotels, etc.
Just curious, why is it important to pick up when you get an interview invite? I've just been letting them leave voicemails and calling them back to confirm?
To be honest, I'm really bored in clinic. I see no problem at all with voicemail!
Geez!!! I thought at some point we have to be honest, when you want to take the offer and you withdraw from matching, everything will be okay. Now, not so much anymore.
Does anyone know if there is consequences of not withdrawing from matching once you got accepted in non matching program? How do you tell "oh sorry, I am taking the match program at the very last minute"?😱
