@bon22: That's awesome. Congrats and good luck, still waiting for mine II.
Finger crossed I will get some. My GPA is around 3.2 and my MCAT is 26.
Don't know why i applied late...wanna hit myself in the head lol

@tnguye Yeah I know it's rough knowing that you applied late. I didn't even decide to apply this cycle until October.

I just received my first rejection from DMU. At least I finally heard something. [emoji4]

Put on hold at DMU today. Complete late October. Argh I was really hoping for a II

It's okay, I applied there not long ago so I'm probably on the same boat. At least their 60 day review time holds true!

Sent in an app mid-dec, received secondary the following week, submitted secondary by the end of that week and just received an II for late-Jan.

I just sent my primary in a week ago...I am already working on secondary questions for the schools I am applying to, so when/if I get their secondaries, I can send them back quickly. Is it reasonable to still think an interview is possible somewhere? I was battling some significant health issues for the past year and a half, I wasn't even planning on being able to apply this year, but things have resolved...Took the old MCAT scored 8/8/8 - (I was dealing with my health)...undergrad gpa 3.23 (3.6 last two years); masters degree anatomy 3.83 gpa; 500+ hours of volunteer work, bunch of other ECs; been teaching graduate/medical level anatomy and neuroanatomy the past two years

With that MCAT and being very late in the application process and most of the class being filled, would say your chances are very low. It would've been best to wait until upcoming cycle.

The 24 MCAT is already a big red flag. The schools that are known to take low MCATs already have a long waiting list.

^ that.
You'd have a shot if you applied early. With those stats (similar to mine) you should have applied earlier or already have your secondaries in at the most.
Just take this time to focus on your health issues and make good use of this gap year with some ECs and stuff.

In the event you decide to go through and send secondaries if you receive them, let me know if I can help! I got a few interviews so maybe I could shed some light if you have any questions.
Good Luck!!

Which schools are "known" to have lower MCAT? And does this mean they want higher GPA's?

You have a shot, but I would have waited a couple more months to apply next cycle considering your low mcat. Keep your spirits up and make backup plans in case this cycle is a bust. Good luck.

I would def not apply this cycle. Your stats are low with a 3.2/24. Your EC's and grad GPA are what could possibly save you. Even if you apply this coming cycle, early and broadly, that MCAT is weak. I personally don't think it's worth applying with an MCAT below 25 (500) unless you are URM. You may need to reconsider taking MCAT again to be a serious applicant. Shoot for 25+ and you have a shot. Good luck.

For those that are applying late just know there is hope! I thought I was not going to get in anywhere when I submitted all my applications on 11/28-11/30th (10 DO schools) and would had to wait another year. Just show your genuine self in your applications, rock the interview and you will be fine! So far I got one acceptance already!

Freaking awesome! Congrats!
I got an interview at ACOM Friday so hopefully I'll join the crew!

Complete at ACOM, UNECOM, NSUCOM, KYCOM, and WCUCOM in October/November. Completed my secondaries as of 12/17 for each school, and so far I have an II at William Carey! Hopefully we will all hear good news soon.

I wanted to make a place where all the late applicants -- complete Nov. Dec. Jan. -- could ask questions pertaining to their primaries, secondaries, interviews, etc.

I myself was complete and sent for verification on Nov. 13th.

Please feel free to use this thread to ask any questions pertaining to apps completed later in the DO cycle.

Good luck, y'all!

why did you apply late?

why did you apply late?
Planned on applying in 2016, but I got into a good shadowing program, owned my MCAT and thought, "Why not? It's still early-ish and I might be able to avoid that projected 20 month gap period."

Unfortunately, though I was verified in early Nov., I ran into some very ill-timed financial difficulty which restricted me to only one secondary to GA-PCOM (complete 11/30), even though I got secondaries from all the schools to which I applied. At the end of December, I managed to apply to 4 more schools.

Hoping to hear about interviews very soon.

That's great! When were you complete? Did you hear about your interview this past Friday or is your interview for this upcoming Friday? Lol

I applied to ACOM (sweet looking program) and was complete last week. Hoping to learn how fast they are in getting back to us.

Thanks and congrats again!

Interview is tomorrow. I was complete in mid-November and got an II first week of December.
Awesome program. I'd go here if accepted since I'm from Florida so it's super close to home.

Thanks! I am taking the new MCAT May 6th, so I can have my primary app and MCAT in by early June.

OOS
sGPA 3.91
cGPA 3.89
MCAT 500
3 other II at RVU, SOMA, and PNWU
I'm OOS from GA. 3.58/3.35/510. Maybe it was the MCAT?

Maybe you'll see some movement there soon. Are you particularly interested in the school?
