wait, i know this sounds stupid but is snail mail like the mail in your mailbox (i tottally sound like a milinneal). Should I contact them in case anything got lost? maybe ive already been rejected (silent since july)

I think II are via email, but acceptances/waitlists are via regular mail.
 
I have a very interesting story! So I called the admissions office to ask if they accept pre-interview updates (which they do, if anyone is still in doubt at all). I also asked about the status of my application, and the person over the phone told me that I had received II! Apparently, they only send out II's approximately a month before they want to interview you, but they may (as in my case) have made the decision about you before that. So perhaps there is hope for people who are still waiting! Complete 07/14.
 
They stone-walled me when I inquired; just said they interview until April and rejections will come out next year at some point. :shrug:

I have to agree with @breezy16. I was stoned-walled as well when I called to inquire about my app status. Additionally, it is stated in their admission instructions that they do not want pre-interview updates.

I am sorry to hear that. I don't doubt that since I've been given the cold shoulder at many other schools too. Perhaps it was the order that I asked in? I specifically asked "Do you know if the admissions committee is receptive to any sort of updates pre-interview?" (I am aware that their website does say that they don't accept pre-ii updates, but I figured I might as well try to ask and pretend that I didn't see it on the website.) Luckily, the person said yes. Afterwards I asked if they could tell me anything about the status of my app.. So I suppose it depends on who picks up your call? 🤔 I suppose they could be preparing some sort of elaborate trap for me, since I am of course, a VIP ^^.

They said yes to pre interview updates to me, too. I forgot to mention that... I wonder if it's just who we got

Can you generally send a LOI if you haven't been offered an II yet? I also ask because I have a change in employment I'd like to address in my pre-interview update. Any input would be greatly appreciated 🙂
 
Just got an II here too (IS)! Submitted my app back in July so very happy to hear back 🙂 Congrats to all who have received II and/or been accepted!
 
II!!! So happy! IS LizzyM 73. Submitted in early to mid August.

Has anyone had any luck rescheduling? I just want to push it back a week! I live in LA and was already flying to NY the following week. I really can't afford to stay in any until then or to book yet another set of flights so close together in time. Still, this is a wonderful problem to have 🙂
 
Did anyone get a II complete early Sept? Congrats on the II's!

My interview is in Feb. They originally assigned me Feb 1, but I have a similar situation as @danib2k15 . Scheduled for 2 weeks after that date.

Ya they are very accommodating when it comes to re-scheduling. Just email them.
 
Thanks @DiDoc and @bandwagoner!! - may I ask if you mentioned that you have another interview or did you simply say that you already have a flight booked? Just wondering how to phrase this?

I said something along the lines of, "Well, Feb 1st would be great, but I'm actually going to be in NY for **this thing** two weeks after that, is it possible to schedule my interview for that week?"
 
So what am I supposed to think if I did not get any reply since July (submitted my app)? I Really want this school

Think that you're still in the running unless proven otherwise. I submitted my app July 3rd...the first day possible i think...then had silence until an II january 6th, and got in in may. Its a long process but it aint over till you see either rejection or acceptance.

Forgive me if this was already answered (I'm on mobile so it's hard to scroll through so many pages) but which airport is the best/closest to fly into?
 
Its 34 mins from JFK and 39 mins from LaGuardia. I'd pick Kennedy but you may just wanna search the lower fare.

Jfk has direct access to subway and LIRR therefore, JFK >LGA. Fares to JFK are much cheaper (typically/on average). So, it depends on OP.. if they're gonna taxi everything or OK with public tport
 
Any MD/MPHers out there? Current students or applicants who have interviewed! Just have some questions I would love to PM you about.
 
Has anyone sent an update in between receiving an interview and the interview date? Is this possible/well received?

Do either of you know if updates should be emailed in (if so what is the best email to use?) or sent in regular mail?

In this day in age, always email. I'd .PDF, just in case.

So they probably sent it out Friday. Thats so awesome to hear. I loved downstate and was most impressed by this school because it exceeded my expectations in every area. Hoping for some love from them as well 🙂
 
hi, i am anxious to hear back. this was my first seocndary completed in july. How can I call them and remind they have way past gone thier 3 month deadline? I mean, is it safe to lose hope at this point? This is my only school in New York I applied to.... Are there any people that have been rejected?

I've said this like a million times but i'm going to continue. There is no real deadline. I applied July 3rd, and was offered my interview January 6th...without ever going on hold. That's 6 months. SUNY schools don't really review applications chronologically so sometimes it's a long wait. Just chill, you're not out until they say you're out.
