I started to submit on my phone in bed, but then realized that there were several things that could potentially go wrong and got up to do it on my laptop.
I normally wake up around 6:30-ish anyway, so it was not such a big deal. On the other hand, having a chance to whine and complain about something AMCAS related - priceless! 😀I'm usually at work at 7 am pacific so I actually slept in and woke up to submit.
Ok, that part is over, verified a few minutes ago. Now about that school list...
Did they change a BCPM classification?Verified as well! I have a question milski-- did any of your classes have an x instead of the / that indicates no change was made? For some reason, a significant number of my classes have an x, but I can't for the life of me see anything different? I went through my courses meticulously, so this is really concerning to me!

I had a couple of classes with X-es like that last year. I could not find a difference either but I only checked the grade and the amount of credits. Is it possible that they have re-classified them? This year most of the classes were transferred from the last year application and I ended up with only /-s.Verified as well! AdComs don't know what the change was, only that there was a change. I doubt that they would care too much, considering that they get to see the final outcome.Hmm, I just realized that it's my status they switched..I spent 5 years in undergraduate, so it looks like they altered my junior standing to sophomore standing. Does anyone think that adcoms will frown down upon this alteration?
They are supposed to determine years based on credits only, regardless of when you actually took the class, maybe that's what tripped you?I wouldn't mind so much if it was one or two, or even a handful, but man-- it's like half of my transcript! I really hope that this isn't viewed poorly 🙁. I followed what it said in the guide and placed my 5th year as my senior year as well. I guess there's nothing I can do about it now.
Other than that, my bcpm gpa was higher than calculated-- so good news on that front 😀!

I was so excited about getting verified that I forgot to check my GPA. Got a bit of a bump as well, which is rather surprising.
Nice, I'm still waiting. My transcript is messy and I have lots of classes from a bunch of schools. I wouldn't be surprised if it takes them longer because of that. Crazy that the ball is rolling!Yep, I think that's definitely what tripped me. I saw both credits and year standing in the applicant guide and, silly me, I went with my year without giving it too much thought. Hopefully adcoms don't look askance at this, I can't believe I didn't catch that in my ~20 reviews of my coursework!
Yay for the gpa bump 🙂!

When it is marked as received is there anywhere it shows a timestamp? Mine is marked as received as well, but I just was curious. Congrats on submitting! I submitted 90 minutes after it opened and I feel like I won't get verified for a month 🙁Submitted just now.
Last transcript and my one letter outside my committee letter were marked as received today.
And now we wait.

It's explained in the instructions. Basically you go with the number of credits as a cut off.I am not submitting this cycle, but I have several colleges/universities to take into account when I am ready for another cycle. How are credits/years determined? Since I have four transcripts to take into account, I don't know what will count as first year, second year, etc.
Verified this morning as well. GPA turned out the best it could I think (no changes), given that I had to include a high school class I never should have taken (silly overachieving high school me).

Can't we get a day off or two? or three? lolNow we pre-write secondaries!
No, need to work on those school lists and researching the schools first. 😛Can't we get a day off or two? or three? lol![]()
Hahaha.. I know I know silly me. I have my list, I sent 18 applications, I might add a couple more. No, need to work on those school lists and researching the schools first. 😛
Peddle, peddle, little hamster... (to the tune of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star..")
Yes, I plan to use the secondaries from the school specific threads. One of the benefits of being a re-applicant is that I already have written plenty of those, so I have some material to work with. I don't think I'll get started on those this week though - there is the part about choosing schools and I'll probably read at least a bit about each of them. And completely unrelated, I have to find a reasonable job for the next year... So that means brushing up my resume as well. Did I mention how much I detest writing? 🙂Hahaha.. I know I know silly me. Are you using the secondaries from last year then since they usually don't change?
Ugh I hate writing too! So much work! When do you hope to start a new job?Yes, I plan to use the secondaries from the school specific threads. Haha yea of course you can take some time off from apps. But time off from apps for me means revising a manuscript and writing another one. Can't we get a day off or two? or three? lol![]()
Gotcha, that makes sense, I will have to take a look closer at those.Yes, I plan to use the secondaries from the school specific threads. I can probably spend some time helping with this over the next few days. Google Doc or Spreadsheet? Secondary questions? LOR requirements? Mission/school focus in four words or less?Should we collaborate with making a pre-secondary spreadsheet? I have one from my undergrad, but I have no idea if it is current. I'd be up for division of labor. Google Doc?
@juliuspepperwood would you be up for starting up a google doc and the rest of us can fill in others? @milski @kjw1024. Actually I have one that we can start with (like I said, I'm not sure if it's up to date)... I'll PM y'all.I have secondary questions from like 30 schools
It's very important. My wife is probably going to work from home or take some time off with our children as well when they are infants. Plus you'll have less opportunity for that in about a year when you start med school so good to make use of the time now!Ugh I hate writing too! So much work! When do you hope to start a new job?
I work from home 8 hours a week. And it's not medical at all. Not impressive but I find staying home with my infant important.
It's hard because I know what is important to me, and I think I know what is important to ad coms. And I feel like they aren't aligned sometimes, but I'm not one to compromise my values. I'll do the best I can and hope that it's good enough. It's very important. My wife is probably going to work from home or take some time off with our children as well when they are infants.
