I've noticed that people have posted receiving rejection emails from a site I applied to but I haven't heard anything either way. Another site I applied to people have said they have received an invite but I haven't heard either way. How long do you wait before sending an email to inquire? (nothing in my spam folder)

I'm in the exact same boat as you. I have no idea, going to ask my DCT.

I would at least wait until the date the site has designated as when they will contact everyone. For most places, it's December 15th.

What my DCT told me and some training directors have said when I talked to them about it, some sites will do a cursory review to reduce the applications and reject a first round of apps that are obviously not a good fit (not enough hours, not the right kind of training, etc.) and send out those rejections. Then they do a more in depth review of the remaining "short pile." Individuals that get rejected from the short pile may seem like they might not be a good fit for other, more specific reasons such as mismatch between your career goals or something. From what I've seen, the first rejects will be a mass email, then they might send a personal email for rejects from the short pile with a more personal explanation of why you were not considered a good fit for an interview. I had a few of those before I had to withdraw for health reasons last year. Hope that helps!

A close friend in my year and I applied to a lot of the same sites. Any recommendations for how we can tactfully let each other know when we get interviews to sites that we both applied to?

Hello! Could you tell me what time (EST) that you received your invite to the Southeast Louisiana VA?

I'm curious about which track you applied to if you don't mind sharing.

My cover letter focused on the FAME and ASD rotations

The interview is open house format. The letter I got said no need to rank specific rotations until after the open house date. They are only asking for a list of faculty to interview with and date preferences.

Oh man, this makes me nervous. I applied for the general track and am really hoping to see the site!

You don't necessarily have to let each other know right when it happens; that might just cause more anxiety for whomever hasn't heard yet. I've applied to the same practicum sites as friends before, and that was what we did. You can just catch up every few days like most of us do with our friends who didn't apply to the same sites. If you want to let each other know, I'd suggest texting or something that isn't really an emotional form of communication. But otherwise, you and your friend should be able to support each other regardless of the outcomes; you undoubtedly have different strengths and it makes sense that some sites will want you and not your friend, and vice versa.

I am thinking they do notifications separately for each track/site...their counseling center notifications went out days ago. Good luck!!

That's sort of what I'm hoping! Best of luck to you too!

Has anyone received notifications from the new TIRR Memorial Hermann-Rehab Psych & Neuropscyh at Baylor?

I say just be direct with each other about what you get, what you don't get, and when you don't want to hear it! If it's imbalanced (e.g., one of you ends up being more desirable to several of the sites) then you can always stop sharing... but if you think you're able to be excited for each other, then no harm? Although I agree text or email might be easier than regular in-person conversations.

That said, it's hard to excitedly text your friend "I got an invite!" only for that friend to respond with, "I didn't."
