2016-2017 APPIC Internship Interview Thread

Has anyone heard from JLG-RICA in Maryland or Trinitas Hospital in New Jersey? I'm dying over here! They're my top contenders and it's been radio silence
 
Mount Sinai Dept of Rehab TD sent out a mass update email, due to a family emergency they will be able to notify by December 16th instead of the previous December 9th notification deadline.

It was for the Piscataway internship.

Really weird. Only says that "We commend you on your accomplishments as noted in your curriculum vitae and references. However, the Institute for Child and Family Health, Inc. cannot accept you at this time." Wtf does that even mean.

I know someone else posted that they received a similar email weeks ago, so I thought I would put this out there in case anyone else hadn't heard. It appears these are coming in waves!

Applied to both, haven't heard from either. But my DCT seems to think they haven't send out invites yet.

All those months spent researching my sites of interest, acting strategic and intentional on every choice, and yet I sit here second guessing myself. Perhaps I missed the mark on what I thought I was qualified for. I don't get it. One invite, 9 rejections, and 11 remaining. What are my chances? I certainly thought better. :smack::smack:

I'm second guessing myself, too! I think that's normal. Just remember, your interview chances don't only depend on you - it's also the number of applicants that year, their specialities, their personal connections to the training directors, etc. A supervisor told me when she was on internship selecting the next cohort, the site had "green" programs & "red" programs. So if you happened to apply from a "red" program, they threw out your app & nothing on your CV mattered. This turned out to be a macabre post, but I hope you find solace in the fact that it's a crapshoot for everyone
 
Has anyone filled out the OF5 form for MDC-LA? If so, what box or boxes did you check (and what amount of days-- if you checked box a)? I wish we could just write in the start date listed in the brochure.

I'm interested in getting some opinions on phone interviews. My schedule for January is looking a little crazy interview-wise, with some on back to back days. Since I ended up getting more interviews than I was expecting, do you think it's a bad idea to ask for a couple phone interviews for my less competitive sites? Or should I go to them all in person just in case? I applied to all VAs, if that changes the answer to the question at all.

I'm in a similar situation and I have decided to do some phones for my sites lower on the list. I personally don't think I'll have the mental energy, finances, or logistical ability to make it to interviews back to back each week. I am trying to limit myself to 2 in-person per week but that seriously cuts down on the sites I get to visit...idk. Interested to hear others thoughts? Some sites seem to be more open and okay with phones than others. I am also doing VA's..
