And I already have 1/9 booked with one of my top sites.

I'm happy to be getting interviews, but must they all only offer the same day???

Does checking this site feel like scratching at a mosquito bite to any of the rest of you? You don't want it to hurt, but you kind of want it to hurt, and you know you probably shouldn't...

Definitely. Related: I had a client recently describe her passive suicidal ideation as "being on the treadmill of life. I don't really want to be on it anymore... but I look around and everyone is working so hard. So I think to myself 'F it... I'll just keep going.'"

My first thought was "damn, that's what internship apps feel like." My second was "okay, well, let's screen for how serious her ideation is today."

-Ann Arbor VA (each track has unique match number)
-Applied for PCT and Women Vet's Mental Health, but email was not specific
-Invite (encouragement to attend open house)
-11/7/16
-Email
-Open house 1/11 or 1/17 *dates have changed from those listed in the brochure

I know someone else posted that they received a similar email weeks ago, so I thought I would put this out there in case anyone else hadn't heard. It appears these are coming in waves!

Congrats!!

As an FYI for others who applied to the Ann Arbor VA, I don't think they *technically* offer anyone an invite; rather, it's solely an email that's encouraging you to attend their open house.

There is a link in their brochure that takes you to a site where you can let them know that you're interested in coming to one of the open houses.

Their brochure explicitly states "It should be noted, applicants perceived to have an exceptionally good fit with our training may receive an e-mail reminder or other individual contact from Ann Arbor VA Faculty reminding them of the Open House. Lack of communication from our faculty does not indicate that your application is not being considered for ranking purposes."

Hope that helps anyone who is potentially waiting to hear from them!

Has anyone heard from the Salt Lake City VA?

No. It's the one I'm most curious about.
Congrats!!

That seems like possibly the most ambiguous way to handle invitations... and this is from someone who didn't apply there.

Hello all. I am new to the site. Here are my notifications:

Congrats! Was this a personal or mass email?

I think it was personal? I could see my email address as one of the recipients, suggesting they didn't BCC a bunch of other people. But other than the greeting at the beginning of the email, there was nothing specific to me in the content, so I imagine it was a copy and paste situation…

What have everyone's experiences been in rescheduling interviews due to conflicting dates? I have one site that only offers one interview day vs another that offers several (one of which I had already committed to). I would like to see if I can switch dates on the one with multiple interview days but am worried about how that will come across and also how to word that message. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks 🙂

So our DCT told us we were not permitted to change interview days and if we have committed to an interview at a site we have to followthrough, even if a first choice gets back to us later. I know that's a strict policy but she just sent us a long email about it this week.

This is something I was worried about. I built an entire google calendar with known or probable interview dates that I began to wittle down as I heard back from each program. It's been very helpful in reducing conflicts while allowing me to request interview days within minutes.

I haven't had to change a day I've committed to, but I've responded to a few offers that only offered me one day (i knew there were others) asking if i could have a different day. They have all been willing to offer another day.

I was told differently. Our DCT told us that sites understand and even expect scheduling conflicts and that is it acceptable to inquire about switching dates, if possible. I contacted a site who was more than willing to move me to a different interview day as they had multiple days while the other site only had one interview date offered.

I was in exactly this situation and the second site was one of my top two choice sites so I couldn't bear not to go to it. I reached out to the first site and asked, very nicely and very humbly, whether there were openings left on the other dates that had been proposed and explained the situation with the second site being unable to do an alternate date. They were very obliging and friendly, rescheduled with no hesitancy at all, and even wished me a happy holiday. I think it can work out sometimes. I don't know, of course, whether the site that rescheduled will hold it against me or rank me lower when the time comes. But overall I'm satisfied with the outcome. 🙂

Thanks everyone for the input! My DCT and other clinical faculty encouraged me to simply be honest, flexible and apologetic. I too am hoping it does not reflect poorly upon me. I have had very friendly contact already with the site I had to request a change in scheduling from so hopefully the established rapport will be of benefit.

Has anyone heard back from North Florida/South Georgia VAMC regarding scheduling? I'm wondering if I should send a follow up email soon since they first contacted me on Monday with the invite

My DCT and the several clinical faculty I consulted with were all in agreement and stated "it will not reflect poorly. In fact, it shows that you are sought after." So maybe it's a good thing rather than making us appear unreliable.

That is a lovely way to put it! Thanks!

Just experienced the worst tease. Norwich University sent out a receipt of application notification, thanking you for submitting in a timely manner. I thought it was an invitation! Ugh. This process is killer.
