Today marks two weeks...
lol!the suspense is killing me you guys... Now i know what it feels like
hey im from the oct 25th interviews..did anybody here back anyhting yet? im waiting anxiously!!!!
congrats!ACCEPTED!!!!
Just got the Call from Ms. Lyda.
you can start here: http://www.facebook.com/groups/213842442005322/I have just got a call from Brittany. I got accepted to Ft. Lauderdale campus. Super excited to see my new classmates.
Great advice, thank you! Just one question, how many students actually wear scrubs with their white coats? I hope I don't look goofy with scrubs! (I'm a big dude who works out a lot lol)For those of you who need help deciding which campus to choose, let me give you my opinion. I might be a little biased because I am from the Davie campus but I have taken classes at both and have friends at both.
Every professional organization that I know of (aside from the AZO fraternity) holds meetings at Davie. It makes it way easier to get involved, talk to guest speakers, network with peers, and so forth when you are at Davie. Also, the students here at Davie generally seemed to be more involved in organizations but that might be because it is more convenient. Some organizations will broadcast their meetings to West Palm but I feel you definitely miss out by actually not being there.
Another thing is that the administration at the Palm Beach campus is generally more strict, especially with attendance. In Davie, you can easily get away with not going to class although the administration highly encourages class attendance. However, if you need to miss class for any reason you will still be OK because all the lectures will be available online to watch in your spare time. Most professors I have had so far (and from what I have heard) do not take attendance. The dress code is not really enforced but there hasn't been any real issues with it (but I mean how hard is it to put on scrubs and a white coat ). In case you do not already know, you can wear either scrubs (any color) with your white coat, or professional attire with your white coat.
It is also convenient to be on the same campus as your professors. Most of them have an open door policy, so you can pretty much go their office whenever. It also makes it easier to go over an exam. Students in the distant campuses have to mostly rely on e-mail.
Keep in mind there will be around 50 students at Palm Beach, around 120 students at Davie, and about 25(?) at Puerto Rico. In Palm Beach the students seem to be more "close-knit" and get to know their classmates really well. In Davie, it's a challenge just to trying to meet everyone. Note that the campuses are just a little over an hour away from each other driving, but if you want to ever take classes at a different campus for a day, you can put in a request and they usually get approved.
I can't speak too much for social activities around the Palm Beach area, but there are a couple good spots for night life activities in Davie (hard rock casino/clubs/bars, downtown Ft. Lauderdale, various bars around the school) and also the beach is like 20min away from campus. Also keep in mind that at Davie, you are surrounded by other health profession students (medical, dental, optometry, nursing, PA, etc). I think the Palm Beach campus might have a nursing program, and maybe a PA program (i think?).
I encourage you guys to talk to other students and go with what you think is best for you, let me know if you have any questions and best of luck with the application process!

Almost everyone wears scrubs, trust me you will want to especially on test days. lol which is every week, no exaggeration you will have alternating Weeks of 1 or 2 tests every week. this week we had a physio test and Friday will be biochem. Scrubs make it more comfortable fof the crazy amount of tests you will take.
Hey how did your interview go? Details?Just got an interview offer. My interview is on December 1st!!!
Hope this goes well!!!!!!
Have you joined the facebook group?Congrats to all those who've been accepted! I've submitted my deposit, intent to enroll form, and official transcript. Any ideas on what I should be working on next?

Don't worry I felt the same way, it was brutal. Congrats!!I interviewed 12/12 and just got a phone call today 12/20 from Brittney that I got accepted!!! It's just so ironic because they literally interrogated me for any imperfection (low grades, withdraws, pcat sections) in my transcript and made me explain my shortcomings practically the whole time! I felt horrible after I left...oh well! I guess I handled the pressure well enough! I will definitely attend! NOVA Pharmacy Class of 2016!

to everyone that got an interview, how long was it from the time you turned in the supplemental until you got the interview invite? i turned in my supplemental like November 15th and i still haven't heard anything
Yes those stats are very competitive, especially your GPA. The PCAT is on the average side of the people who are accepted. I know being patient is hard, but it's really the only thing you can do. I waited quite a while until I got an interview and then accepted. If you don't get any emails by May then you probably didn't get one. :/Hey everyone,
I have applied to NOVA. My application is complete since november 28,2011. I just wanted to know if I stand a chance of getting an interview with the school. My PCAT score is a 74 composite(chem 96, bio 87, QA 39, RC 24, VA 63). My cGPA is 3.93. Been working with a retail chain since the past year(went through state certification and work as a full time tech). Was a volunteer this past summer at a free clinic. I have a B.S. in Pharmacy from a foreign country. Presently enrolled at a CC and have completed 1/3rd of pre-pharm course work with a GPA of 3.87(made it to the Deans's list).
Can somebody who has gone through the process please let me know if the numbers are competitive specifically for this school?? I am losing my patience and hope.
Thanks in advance for useful feedback.
Hey guys! Don't let the username fool you )
SO! During finals week I had a Eureka moment and I've decided pharmacy is the route I want to pursue! I've been chasing the pre-med dream for so long and lost my passion for it along the way... somewhere around the time I discovered my love for chemistry.)
Somehow in the last three weeks I've managed to finish my application, get my letters of rec and transcripts in.... it was SO DIFFICULT to get in touch with professors and schools during the holiday break!
I just took my PCAT today and I scored an 83! I only studied about three days or so, so I am VERY EXCITED about my score !!! I only applied to Nova because honestly my life is in South Florida and it's the only school I care to actually attend. Now I'm just waiting to get processed by PharmCAS... how long does that usually take?
Also can someone post the prompts that appeared on the secondary app? Thanks!
Good luck to everyone & I really hope I can be part of C/O 2016!
P.S. I have a 3.55 GPA, 3.55 science GPA as well and I will have a B.S. in Biochemistry by the time I would matriculate. I'm also a TA for the chemistry department at FSU and I've published a paper..... I just hope I impress them, since it is very very late in the cycle. Oh, and I got a 39% in the QA section ((((( Can anyone tell me my realistic chances ... I haven't done much research on stats; I've only been guided by my friend who's c/o '15 in Nova.
Haha wow what a question to ask! The only question they asked me that even slightly resembled that was what my favorite subject was. Which was pretty easy to be honest. Other than that be prepared to answer any bad grades on your record and just be yourself! I was confident in answering my questions and I think that played a role in getting accepted.I just got an interview invite for Nova. I submitted my app in the beginning of Dec. It took Pharm CAS about 2 weeks to process it and mail it out. Nova sent me and supplemental app to fill out within a day or 2 of PharmCAS sending it to them.
The supplemental asks a few basic essay type questions. Are you applying to any other schools, Is there anything we should take into special consideration while reviewing you application, ect. I answered them with only a paragraph for the most part.
I got a 80 Composite on my PCAT, a GPA is 3.2, and I have no pharmacy experience. I did have great reference letters and personal statement though. I'm sure you'll be hearing back from them soon.
With that being said I'm SUPER nervous about the interview (schedule for Jan. 18th). For those who already had an interview did they ask you any specific questions about Chemistry or Pharmacy knowledge? I read in the interview feedback that they asked what your favorite divalent cation is... seems like some really off the wall kind of questions.
aww man .. Hey keep your head up, that should be all the more motivation to finish off this semester with straight AAAAAAs!
Hey I just got an interview invite!!! Woot woot! I have not scheduled it yet though. Any tips for interview? Also anyone know chances of acceptance if you are interviewed? Thanks ab bunch!
How can you tell if your supplemental app is on hold or completed? The other school I applied to was really clear, once everything was complete it went into the status: "currently under review." I know that PharmCAS just got the OFFICIAL AU's to schools in the past week even though my PharmCAS AU has been complete for over 3 weeks now. Ugh, it's terrible not knowing what to expect!!
To to the top post: your supp app won't really be in any of those statuses. It's either they invite you or they don't =/ . And the bad thing is that if they decline it that you won't find out until the whole application cycle is over which is until about May.Sorry, that post I submitted was meant for you, I didn't quote it. I'm new to the forum, sorry!!
Anyway, how long did it take for you to get the invite after you submitted your supplemental? And CONGRATS on getting the interview, I'm sure you'll do great!

As far as how long it took; I think it took me about a month and a half after I submitted my supplemental to when I got the interview invite. It was long wait but I had interviews from other schools in between that made it seem like less time. Good luck! Join our facebook group if you'd like.
I am not sure if this is the place to post a question? I am in the process of completing the supp application for Nova (yes I guess I am a little behind) - I have a question about it. One of the essays asks to describe any special circumstances that should be considered in the evaluation of my application. This has me thrown a bit in that I am not sure what angle to approach this from. I dont want to sound like a whiner and talk about any hardships, but on the other hand, what are they asking for? I dont have anything outstanding to discuss in terms of pre pharmacy activity - i am over 35 years old, a career changer, and just got my pharm tech certif. so I dont really have major pharm related accomplishments. Any ideas or assistance please? Thank you.
I got an email for the invite and then a call for the acceptance. I'm not sure if they know off-hand that they won't send you an interview invite. Maybe they give everyone a shot until the end then send out rejection letters.Hey, thanks for replying. It's crazy they don't have any kind of system to let you know what's going on. Everything is complete on my app with a date next to it other than my transcripts. There is no corresponding date so it "appears" that they haven't received them; which is obviously impossible because PharmCAS has had them forever and has even sent out my AU transcripts - I can't imagine that we need to send NOVA a separate copy, I'm like 100% sure that we don't. So did you get your invite in the mail, email or a phone call? If they don't invite you for an interview because they KNOW off hand that they are going to reject you they still wait until May to send out rejection letters? Probably everyone on the facebook group has already been accepted, lol - I don't wanna be like the only lonely little applicant Where else did you apply? And you're going to NSU definitely, right? Thanks for your feedback!
I just got a call from Mrs. Lyda today and I was accepted! I already committed to UF though so somebody can have my seat. I sure was impressed by the campus at NOVA though! I hope I'm doing the right thing going to UF
When was your interview? I had on 30th jan for international program. and dint get nothing yet.. The wait is killing me. CONGRATS!!!!!!I just got my acceptance call today as well
Thanks for the encouragement. I called the admissions office and the lady I talked to said that my PCAT score is above the average PCAT score of the 2011 class. I know it doesn't mean much but that were the last words of encouragement I heard from the school.
