Does that mean 2.5% of all takers score above 270? Damn. I thought 260+ was like in the 99th percentile
Nope haha. we had a discussion on this a while ago. it's not distributed like that
265 is 99th percentile
250 is 80th percentile
just google usmle percentile and one of the first hits shows the percentile from a year or two ago, and it hasn't change dramamtically
You are assuming that the exam scoring system operates along a normal distribution, which it doesn't.

Considering the average is still stated to be approximately 230, I would imagine the above data remains accurate.
I wonder if anyone has ever actually gotten 270+. I always thought it was one of those mythological things.

I know a 280 too.. 270s are rare..but quite a few I know of..
