I’m not sure, it seems in past years they didn’t invite waitlisted people to second look until a few days/weeks after they were waitlisted

I did not notice that. Hope someone will post here if he/she is invited to the SL. So we will know. It seems that they accepted more from the first around of alternate list.
 
On a completely unrelated note, have any accepted students not received confirmation that they registered for second look? I sent two emails to be sure, but didn't get a response. I don't want to miss out on such an awesome second look because I communicated poorly or something. Thanks in advance everyone!
 
They can't possibly be updating portals manually can they?
 
It seems like the only people with non-updated portals are going to get rejected...

just checked as well...nothing. I cannot stop checking my phone. I will literally worry myself sick. Soon:arghh:
 
The last update on my portal is still my waitlist letter from January.

Does this count as "no update" (which will likely lead to rejection)? Has anyone been re-waitlisted? I know we are all speculating but I'm curious!
 
Does anyone know around how many people are on the alternate list?

This confused me. It said to let them know within a week to be on that alternate list. Have you replied already or they just offered SL to the people in the first round alternate list? Were the interviews after the December ranking date only for waiting list?

Second look invitations are sent to the top few people on the wait list after the second round of admissions.

I got an email with the second look invite, even though I didn’t yet get a chance to email them back telling them I wanted to stay on the alternate list
 
I also just received a change in my portal saying I was waitlisted. No email or anything.
 
Keep your hopes up. Last year, people on SDN reported getting alternate listed in December, and then receiving a SL invitation after the second round of acceptances went out. They didn't get a "re-waitlist" email, and did not have a portal update

Yup, and the rejection just showed up in my portal randomly. They never even told me a decision was made through email until some time after

Same boat here -- I'm just assuming they got my email and we're all good to go, but let me know if you hear otherwise!

Hey all, I got waitlisted at both Case and cclcm, and I've prepared letters of interest to restate my desire to attend. How would you guys handle this? Obviously I can't tell either school they are my absolute top choice because they have close ties. Also who would you guys suggest I direct the letters to? The iapply update system doesn't feel appropriate because anything uploaded will be visible to admissions committees from both school, and my letters are school specific.

That's a tough situation! When sending in an update letter to CCLCM, I at first emailed the admissions office directly. However, I recieved a reply asking me to upload it to iApply. I honestly have no idea who can see the updates to the portal or if they even sort them out. :/

I think I'd honestly state who is your first choice in one of the letters, and I'd put it in the one you're more confident in. I don't think they can resent you for liking the school for whom you are a better fit based on your experiences/strengths. And if that's CCLCM, I'd address it to Dean Franco.

Yes, the next 16 have been called. Obviously, they are either not members of studentdoctor.net or, prefer only to troll and not admit that they have been accepted to CCLCM.

How many students typically get called to second look? Does not being invited to second look mean you have a slim chance of acceptance?

There were people last year who were accepted from the waitlist that did not attend second look. There were also people from the waitlist that attended second look and were not accepted. So I think there is no solid way to tell your chances - just a waiting game!

I noticed that 2 people on last year’s thread reported attending SL but not ultimately getting accepted. That’s kind of surprising to me because wasn’t last year the year they accepted ~60 total? I wonder if it’s possible that both of them acted unprofessionally at SL, or maybe their PIs made poor comments during phone calls? Otherwise I’m not sure why they wouldn’t have made it off the waitlist since @adcom101 has said SL invite is kind of like a high WL. 😕
