Hi everyone! I just got accepted to this program and noticed there's isn't a thread for it. Did anyone else apply? I cannot find a lot of information about the program's success from the past few years, if there is anyone with more information about the program in general please share!

Do you mind sharing your stats? I'm looking into this program. Have you spoken with anyone from admissions regarding any questions you may have had about the program? I think I'll be calling them this week to inquire about a few things

Hey guys. I just submitted my application about 5 days ago. Typically, how long does it take to find out whether you're accepted or not?

Hi! I have 3.1 GPA and 507 MCAT, lots of research experience with a few publications, average ECs, average shadowing, average clinical experience.

I did speak to Sewann Strong who is a program administrator and she told me 30% of their students end up in medical school which is the reason I decided to not accept the offer.

I was complete 2/15 and received an offer 2/16 so they seem to get back to people really fast

Thank you for responding! Wow is it really that low?? Their website and many other posts on this site really bragged about their acceptance rates into medical school. That's kind of discouraging.

I think that information is really outdated, that’s why I tried to find out their most recent stats. The stats she gave me were from 2015 if I’m not mistaken. It’s possible that a lot of other students are not interested in medical school so that’s why only a fraction of them go to medical school. Try to call them if you have specific questions for your situation, they are very responsive

Do you mind sharing your other alternatives since you declined their acceptance?

Sure! So far also got into VCU and Georgetown and still waiting on Boston MAMS and Tufts

Hey! I got into this program and have accepted the offer of admissions. I don't think the 2015 statistics are completely reliable, if you read the blogs of the class of 2017 group a number of them have talked about a solid amount of others being accepted that cycle and the others applying the following cycle.

So, just wondering if anyone is going to be attending and is looking for a roommate?

Mind sharing your stats? Anyone else going to this program?

Does anyone know anything about how this program would be effective for pre-dental students? I was accepted a few weeks ago and am deciding between a couple programs but I want something that will help me for dental schools - NOT med!

When I spoke with the administrators, they emphasized both med and dent.

Hello. I am a graduate of the M.S. Pharmacology program from Tulane. I can answer any questions y'all may have or you can message me for individual questions you may have. I would love to help. P.S. I will be matriculating to med school this fall.

Where will you be attending medical school? Deciding between this program and Micro/Immunology. Any advice?

I will be attending medical school in Texas. I cannot speak for the Micro/Immuno program; however, I am sure it is fine as well. I personally found taking Med Pharm with second year med students to be very helpful.

Hey Charlie,

I was just accepted into this program and believe it looks pretty awesome. I was wondering how much time students have to volunteer and get involved in the community, as well as how available research opportunities are. I applied with a 3.8 and 512 MCAT this cycle, but did not get accepted, so I figured this program would be a good fit since I've always been interested in pharmacology. Did you think it was worth the cost, and an effective step to take in order to get accepted into medical school?

Yes there is plenty of time to volunteer. In fact, students are expected generally to do at least 30 hours of service per semester. And there is definitely a need in the community, from various outreach programs in need of student assistance to charity events. There are research opportunities and the faculty are highly regarded in the field. Definitely start asking early about research involvement. They want to make sure you get good grades first but seeing your GPA and MCAT you should be fine! I know it is disappointing not getting in with such great stats, but I think this program definitely adds something unique to your resume for med school. Pharmacology is generally regarded as quite tough in med school so finishing this program kind of gives you an upper hand going in to med school (when you get in which I know will be soon!). I know a Masters program wasn't what you were necessarily thinking about doing at first, but I think you made a great choice applying to this program. I am excited to see the great things you do here!

For those who ended up finishing the program, what were your overall thoughts? I was accepted to start this August. Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

Program was good. Grades are inflated like most masters programs and it is not a true SMP, but you should know that already. Faculty are always available, and if you're concerned for the next cycle, AMCAS should consider all your classes but 1 as BCPM. Speaking to other medical students, my degree and knowledge proves useful, but not so much I have an absolute edge on a 1st year. Feel free to PM if you have more questions.

Hey I have a question! So did you apply to med school while in the program if so when? When the program started in august or before then?
Thank you
