thread for cycle
What are your stats? How many schools did you apply to? Do you like Indiana and would you be happy going there? Would you regret not applying to other schools? ED can be a good option if you’re willing to fully commit to the school, but it gets more complicated if you don’t have your heart set on it.After applying 2018-2019 cycle, I had an interview to IU and then was on their waitlist. I had a phonecall review with an Admission's Office lady yesterday to go over my application and applicant profile to see why I wasn't accepted. Apparently my entire application was spot on and looked amazing and my interview went extremely well. But the applicant pool was just way to big and competitive that they didn't have room for me. She went onto say that she highly recommended that I apply early decision for IU this year, and that if I did so, she was extremely confident I'd get accepted as I would be in a pool of 1/100 vs a pool of 1/1200. I didnt apply ED last year so I don't entirely know how it all works.
Is it worth it, given the Admissions Office phone review of my past application and her recommendation, to apply ED to IU? If for some reason, I didn't end up getting into IU after doing ED, would my chances of getting in anywhere else pretty much be zero since their applications would then go in so late?
Thanks! Just trying to get more info.

I applied ED to IU because I knew it was the only place I wanted to go to. I ended up being deferred to regular decision and got accepted later, so while I didn’t go through with ED fully I do have some experience if you have any questions.
I wouldn’t worry, it sounds like it would be more of a hassle to go the ED route than not. You’ve already applied to 10 schools so that would be a lot of money wasted to withdraw apps! All my metrics are above the average for IU and my Admissions call told me that my interview, letters, and activities were stellar. Last cycle, IU and UConn were by far my favorite schools and I would've loved to go to IU. I also have lots of friends close by and like Indy. I applied to 6 schools last year, but am going for 10 this cycle to cast a wider net.
I also had this call AFTER I submitted my AAMCAS primary which is being processed right now. So I think if I went for ED, I'd have to call AAMCAS support directly to try and see if I can change IU to ED. I just over-think things and am worried that if IU ED doesn't work out, then I'll be screwed for the other schools and rest of the cycle.

Sent you a DM.Hey there! Just wondering when you ended up hearing back from regular decision.
I know this was a while ago but what was your GPA and MCAT if you don't mind sharing? I'm applying ED to IU and I really don't want to get deferred to regular decisionWhat are your stats?
