Not definite way to know. They do have a solid amount movement but they also have a relatively larger class size and give out a fair amount of interviews...here's an excel sheet with recent data for acceptance % for Georgetown and other schoolsA school like Gtown is known to have good WL movement, but what does that mean in terms of percent? Like what percent of the incoming class should come from people who got off the WL to mean good movement?
Yeah, but dream on! The same thing happened last year with Mayo, except it was a million times worse, because it was earlier in the cycle, way more people were involved, people had withdrawn from other schools, etc. The school apologized and offered to make calls on students' behalf to other schools if necessary. The classy thing to do would be to offer you a deferral. But they went ahead and said oops nvm. I'm so sorry this happened to you.
What you are suggesting will NEVER happen. Med school admissions are not the same as a mispriced item at a grocery store. There is no calling the manager over to eat the mistake and move on. Med schools will admit mistakes, but they will never allow applicants to benefit from them. Classes are too small and too selective to ever allow for this.
This is the ultimate manifestation of the sellers' market. Sorry for messing with your head. Crap happens. Get over it. Etc., etc., etc. Things like this kind of put ghosting in perspective, don't they?
With all due respect, I don't think this is the relevant metric. If you are currently on a WL, what is relevant to you is what percent of the WL is historically admitted, not what percent of the class came from the WL. For example, would you be better off if 50% of a 100 person class came from the WL, which currently has 500 people on it, or if it's 10% of a 120 person class with a 60 person WL?A school like Gtown is known to have good WL movement, but what does that mean in terms of percent? Like what percent of the incoming class should come from people who got off the WL to mean good movement?

Day 6 let’s go
U know it’s illegal to take pics of me without asking 😥😥😥View attachment 336427
Rise and grind fellow WL warriors! Another day of refreshing SDN and checking emails awaits
I felt really sick cause I was scared what the future would hold if I didn’t get in but I think I now have a plan. If I don’t get in, I think i’ll go do one of those coding bootcamps and take my talents into CS

My inbox's updates tab is getting some WORK this week, can't wait for the weekend so I stop incessantly checking my email instead of working.
Is it a good idea to send an update letter about a new deadlift 1RM? I think it may have been waitlisted because they didn't like my big 3 total.

I saw a lot of WL movement earlier this week but now it's died down... do you think it is mostly finished at this point?
Yes. Waitlist movement is pretty much done a week after the April 30th deadline.I saw a lot of WL movement earlier this week but now it's died down... do you think it is mostly finished at this point?
Let's pack it up boys
REPEAT AFTER ME: WAITLIST MOVEMENT DOES NOT STOP UNTIL JULATTELUVER GETS INTO AT LEAST ONE SCHOOL 🥲💪🏼🏋️
Those new Google coding certificates are sounding real enticing right now. I heard a commercial play over the radio when I was at CVS yesterday and was like...hmmm this actually sounds like a nice value proposition.I felt really sick cause I was scared what the future would hold if I didn’t get in but I think I now have a plan. Nah we just getting started! WL movement just started for one of my schools, it seems like. Keep your chin up (but also have a backup plan).I saw a lot of WL movement earlier this week but now it's died down... do you think it is mostly finished at this point?

Today’s just a really hard day and my mental health is not OK. I've been crying since I woke up. I haven't done work in weeks. I just don't feel like myself. My parents don't get it and my boyfriend doesn't get it either. I just want someone to understand. Wish I can just get an acceptance already and for the first time in my life feel at peace (even if just for a few weeks).
Hey... I TOTALLY understand where you're coming from. We're all in this ****ty situation together and we got to keep it together for at least a couple more months, however tough that may be. I definitely feel my mental health suffering through this process, and I too hope it ends soon with an acceptance.Today’s just a really hard day and my mental health is not OK. i know it varies by school but how often to adcoms generally meet?
Two of my 3 schools had a good amount of waitlist movement before April 30 which freaked me out but they’ve all been pretty quiet since April 30. My guess is they’re getting everything together. Also the one I’m most hopeful for doesn’t have a ranked waitlist which means they could take longerI saw a lot of WL movement earlier this week but now it's died down... do you think it is mostly finished at this point?
I think it’s important (but hard) to try and focus on what we can control at this point. Our applications are out of our hands at this point, and all of us are deserving, but for whatever reason we haven’t gotten an A yet. And likely it’s down to little details that aren’t a judgment of our overall merit.
So instead we should try and focus on what we can do now, whether that’s how well be forming a bomb application for this cycle, what we’ll be doing the next year, or how we’ll pivot our career choice if that’s the decision we want to make

the only movement I've seen for my top school is OOS but I'm IS. should I assume they just started with OOS WL first and haven't touched IS yet?

The absolute dream....CONGRATZ!!!!!!Think these vibes cuz I just got in!
No, far from it. When people with an acceptance already in hand get off the waitlist of their more preferred schools, they will forgo their current acceptance, which will start a domino process leading to additional offers off the waitlist at other schools. Last year there was waitlist movement throughout May and June before dying down in July. There will likely be similar waitlist movement this year.I saw a lot of WL movement earlier this week but now it's died down... do you think it is mostly finished at this point?
Of course, everyone who does not currently have an acceptance should start the reapplication process (or start thinking about alternative careers, depending on one's goals). Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.
And as others have said, this application cycle has been unprecedented in many ways. It bears repeating that not getting into a medical school is by no means a reflection of one's worth, just as how becoming a physician is not the end-all be-all marker of success (though it may seem like it at this stage). There are many other careers both inside and outside of medicine with high job satisfaction, good work-life balance, a stable income, and the ability to help others.
Don't send an update letter about a deadlift... I can't believe you thought it was a good idea. Obviously link a video for proofIs it a good idea to send an update letter about a new deadlift 1RM? I think it may have been waitlisted because they didn't like my big 3 total.
Is sending an engagement ring to the schools I'm WL at too much? Asking for a friend...
Nah, you're already engaged. They still need to say "yes" to your proposal! Is sending an engagement ring to the schools I'm WL at too much? Asking for a friend...
Perfect. The letter of intent isn't doing much, so I think it's time to up my game!Nah, you're already engaged. They still need to say "yes" to your proposal!

Just a friendly reminder that waitlist season is 3 months long. May 1- whenever orientation starts usually late July early august. It hasn't even been one full week. Movement will continue throughout all of may and will start to taper down around mid June. But plenty of people get off late June early July. Its only been 6 days people you got 84 more to go! Take a breathe, say a prayer, write those re-apps and take a weekend off from SDN and reddit trust me 😉

genuine question - what is taking schools so long to shuffle through the list? Usually there’s movement the day of or a week later but there’s been nothing so far. Is it just send an email to another applicant or more complex?
Sorry guys I'm about to ask a really neurotic question, but I was WL'd at Georgetown at the end of January (I believe Jan 22), and then I sent a letter of intent + update in mid-Feb, mid-March, and May 1st. I also sent an update pre-interview.
My question is, will the school look down on the fact that I didn't submit a LOI in April? Frankly, it was just a terrible month for me. I had a death in the family and was feeling very depressed and had no motivation, but I didn't mention any of this in the letter I sent on May 1st.
Would love some advice, and I'm sorry again for the neurotic question.

I think the process should be more straightforward at schools where they rank their WL. For unranked schools though, they are forced to look through a large pile of WL applicants and re-review their apps, and so it takes more time.genuine question - what is taking schools so long to shuffle through the list? Same. But I think no news is better. One of my schools was pulling people off and making me peak neurotic for why I'm not getting pulled off. Thanks, I can now stress more because I can see all 3 schools I'm waitlisted at have started accepting people and I'm still in the dark lol
If they give each person offered a week to decide, it will be about a week before the school can make more offers. They have to know the responses first.genuine question - what is taking schools so long to shuffle through the list? Last night, I started browsing through Caribbean school websites and looked through flight and tuition costs... the WL desperation is becoming unreal and depressing 😂
