so it says the interview is one-on-one and group activity sessions. does it mean the one-on-one is traditional and the group activity sessions is kind of like MMI?

Anybody who got an A from KCU, I have three questions:
  1. How did you like KCU compared to other schools (MD+DO)?
  2. Are there any DO schools you would choose over KCU, if so, why?
  3. Would you choose KCU over any MD school(s)?
So I am s/p II 10/13, LM 71, IS, ORM, waiting to hear back but I have been incredibly impressed with KCU in multiple different ways. I love their facilities; their staff seems supportive, friendly and on top of things; their culture seems really cooperative and chill; students actually seem genuinely happy; their match stats are great and I know some grads who placed in really competitive fields. I am tempted to pick this school over some state MD schools based on the students' perceived happiness in combination with impressive outcomes and would love to get some more perspectives!

I would rank KCU in my top 5 of DO schools that I applied to. The only DO schools I might choose over KCU would be DMU, MSUCOM, or PCOM. And I did get into an MD school and I wouldn’t choose any DO school over it just due to taking two boards, learning OMM, step 1 going P/F, and the stigma when applying to residency. If I didn’t get into MD schools though, I would probably be going here in the fall!

Concur with this, would choose this school if I hadn’t gotten into my MD school

My thoughts also. Def can see the stigma as a 4th year applying to residencies, but definitely happy with KCU as a DO school

Sorry if this has been answered before but does anyone have insight on the post-II acceptance rate? Also approx how many interviews are given out?

I reached out to admissions to get feedback on my post II R and the whole reason I got rejected was because of my stats, not because of interview performance nothing, purely stats. This may just be me venting but why even offer me an interview in the first place? I have no doubt KCU is an amazing institution but to say I’m appalled is an understatement

Im sorry to hear that 🙁 this process is messed up and KCU didn't need to waste your time and hope like that. If you need a vent my DMs are open dude </3

Sorry to hear about that. I feel DO are more stat driven than mission driven. I applied to 2 MD school in my state with low stats but I'm a mission fit for both. Got II from both of them and an A from one.

this is highly dependent on what state you're in. California residents are crying at ur statement rn LMAO

what are your stats if you dont mind sharing? my stats are also quite borderline so that makes me a lil scared for my interview coming up in Jan..

You have a right to be upset. I don’t understand their process when deciding who to interview, who to put under “qualified” status, and who to reject. This entire process is so extremely unfair. Keep your head up, you’ll get to where you need to be.

That’s definitely frustrating and I’ve read other SDN members post similar things. I think the issue is that you were not outright rejected because you met the minimum qualifications, but you were later rejected because certain members of the admissions committee weren’t willing to look past your stats even though others were. The admissions dept staff can only progress applications based on meeting stat requirements, mission fit, or demographic stats. The admissions committee makes the final decision and depending on who the members on the committee are, some make determinations holistically and others refuse to vote yes if applicants don’t have a certain number.

This process is so complex and varies considerably from one school to the next. Just had an interview this morning, and for the first time in the cycle, I’m ok if i don’t hear back from anyone else. I’m tired of all this!

When should the 10/5 group expect to hear back? This week or next week correct?

have they ever released decisions on thursday? i looked back in this thread and feel like I've only seen decisions on sunday and tuesday but never thursday
