Same prompts from last year, but they removed one question.
I copied and pasted a sentence from the directions that I thought would benefit everyone applying: "Please complete this application with as much specificity and detail as you can. I have a question regarding one sentence in the diversity prompt - “Many applicants will not need to answer this question.” Given the examples listed after this sentence, I would not say that I fall into any of those categories and the diversity essay I’ve written for other schools would not be applicable. But, I’m conflicted because the directions say answering all the questions are “STRONGLY ENCOURAGED.” So I don’t know if I should answer it anyways even if I am probably someone who doesn’t need to answer it according to the questions standards. What do you think?

If you think it won't be applicable, and the application says many applicants wont need to answer this question, I don't see why you would have to answer it

Has anyone gotten the separate email for the payment yet for those submitted 7/11?

Do you think if you answer most of the optional questions instead of all of them it hinders you? I’m a re-applicant to FSU and I answered everything previously. I don’t think I need to do that again but wanted to get a different take

Were you guys close to 500 words for all of these prompts?
Honestly, I just didn't feel that I needed all 500 words for each question to say what I wanted to say. If you find yourself feeling satisfied with what you have written, you are probably done or close to done with that prompt. That's just how I looked at it though.

Agreed! They will be able to tell where you are genuine and where you’re adding fluff to get to a certain word count. Since they’re reading so many of these (we hope) i’m sure they also appreciate when we keep the word count a little lower

Has anyone received the separate e-mail for payment? I submitted today and am hoping I get the e-mail soon :(

For the specialties question, do they want a list? Or some explanation on why you may want to pursue that specialty also?

there are two questions - the first is a list then they ask how you envision using that specialty to further their mission so you can weave in your ‘why this specialty’ into that essay

Just received final email saying my Application is complete. Anyone know when they usually start sending out interviews?

From FSU website: "Interviews for Early Decision applicants are held each year in early to mid-September." Good luck all <3

Edit: Oh, just saw you were asking about invites. Not sure on that, but I assume it is shortly after the Aug. 21st deadline for all secondary materials.

Judging from the prior years, they send out ED invites late August (20-25th usually), interview them September, and then send out RD II's late September and beyond.

Well, since they are optional, I can't see why you would need to answer all of them.

Submitted secondary 7/20, got completed email today 7/31!

Haven't heard anything yet (also ED). One question-- the original post says interviews are in person this year..? I double checked the website and it says via zoom. Just wanting to avoid buying a suit last minute 😅

Hope everyone in the big bend region of Florida (Tallahassee, etc) is ok after Idalia. Southwest FL had some damage along the coast again due to storm surge.
