2024-2025 Georgetown Secondary Essay Prompts:

1. The Georgetown University School of Medicine (GUSOM) strives to ensure that its students become respectful physicians, with cultural humility, who embrace all dimensions of caring for the whole person. With our Jesuit values of Cura Personalis, People for Others, and Community in Diversity, we are steadfast in our commitment to racial justice and to addressing the health inequities exacerbated by the recent pandemic. Please describe how your perspectives, values, and individual life experiences will contribute to these GUSOM priorities.
(Max Characters 1000)

2. Is there any further information that you would like the Committee on Admissions to be aware of when reviewing your file that you were not able to notate in another section of this or the AMCAS Application? (Max Characters 1000)

3. Why have you chosen to apply to the Georgetown University School of Medicine and how do you think your education at Georgetown will prepare you to become a physician for the future? (3000 characters)

Good luck to all applying!

Since there's already a why us, what is everyone putting for the additional information? Im not taking time off or anything so Im not sure what to write there!

How are people addressing prompt 1? I was thinking about either talking about experiences with underserved populations or my diversity essay, which falls in line better with the "individual life experiences" part. It kind of seems like the prompt is looking for both though. Thoughts?

My AMCAS got verified three days ago, 7/10. I still haven't received a secondary from Georgetown, should I be worried? I thought they sent secondaries to all applicants?

For the first prompt, how is everyone addressing all 3 values of Cura Personalis, People for Others, and Community in Diversity in only 1000 characters?

I told a story in which actions I took embodied each of the 3 values. I didn't state it directly though, but I think it's easily inferred (hopefully).

Do you guys think that the story has to be clinically based? Can it be something outside of that?
There are many many ways to approach the prompt. A story is not required, and mentioning clinical experience is not required.

As long as you explain or show how you embody or one, two, or three of the values, you are effectively answering the prompt.

"Are you/will you be enrolled in any Georgetown University program during the 2023-2024 academic year?"
um... do they mean 2024-2025?

What did you guys write for Is there any further information that you would like the Committee on Admissions to be aware of when reviewing your file that you were not able to notate in another section of this or the AMCAS Application?

The website doesn't list it as optional either

If I am getting an MPH degree during my gap year, should I mention what school I am getting it from or just say I am getting an MPH. (I am getting it online from GWU)

Really dumb question but the "former names" from the personal info tab is just referring to people who have had name changes, right? Also are we required to put in our SSN?

Georgetown says that Only applicants who have been away from degree-granting institutions for greater than three (3) years may elect to submit entirely non-academic recommendation letters. Do you think it is ok if I submitted a letter from a past employer?
I'm assuming you aren't out of school for more than three years? I think its fine if some are from past employers. It says "entirely non-academic" so just make sure to have some academic ones.
