Just got an II yesterday 02/05, but couldn’t schedule my interview until March 14th. Do I even have a chance to be admitted or am interviewing for the waitlist??

Many of those already accepted are waiting to hear back from other schools that are a better fit for them. LMU is prepared for this and interviewing all qualified applicants. You have a great chance. Stay strong!

Thank you so much, I needed this. I submitted my app later than most, and it’s so easy to feel defeated in this process. I hope everything works out for every one of us 🙂

There are still acceptances being handed out, just not many it seems like. Also, I have heard LMU DCOM has plenty of waitlist movement around May/June, so even if you get waitlisted don’t be discouraged!

Odd question, not sure if any current students can answer this. For the OPP class, if there is a specific manipulation you are not comfortable having done on you (HVLA or specific cervical manipulation) are you able to opt out?

I cannot find anything about it when looking into it and it seems each school is different with some allowing setting up without the actual manipulation, and some requiring you to have done and do all manipulation taught.
You can't opt out unless it's a religious/medical exemption (case by case), but you can usually just have your partner simulate the treatment not actually add the force, etc..

Anyone know when you get an email with additional information after the acceptance call?

For people who recently interviewed and accepted was there anything new in the interviews or was it just the same questions posted on this thread? Also, how was the student load around 100 again? And were the interviewers only admissions staff or students as well? TIA!

My interview group was last Friday. My interviewer was faculty. There were student ambassadors who signed in for the Q&A, but they didn’t do interviews. As for the general questions, super laid back. Why medicine? What is your background? How do you relax? How do you think you would study during med school? No hi

Thank you! And was there supposed to be something after no hi?

Hahaha no sorry. I was trying to edit out those emojis and I must have typed random words.

Oh also so in the beginning I know its the general info session, but if you have one of the later time slots for the interview do they just put you in a waiting room by yourself or how does it work when you're waiting?

The beginning of the day is presentations from different groups. The first interviews start around 10. For everyone waiting, you can either stay and participate in a Q&A with admissions or students.

I see and then do they just pull you in at your time or do you have to be aware and click on something to join the other room?

I have an interview in march and the comment about 100 applicants on interview day is also making me feel like I am fighting for a WL

Wow...
I have an interview mid March. Is there anyone to know the ratio to interviews/acceptances at LMUDCOM? For those who got accepted, did you speak a lot about your desire for osteopathic medicine and it's philosophy, or serving the undeserved, etc? Were you super professional or just more laid back and conversational?

Any advice or best way to prepare for this interview? So far, this is my only one...

I have not received a decision yet, but I had a pretty good time in my interview. I think I had a great opportunity to demonstrate my personality, which is hard to show with just stats and essays.

I also have not received a decision. I was not directly asked why osteopathic vs allopathic, but I think that could be because I mentioned osteopathic medicine during my “why medicine” response. Definitely emphasize underserved wherever you can even if you aren’t directly asked about it. My interview was very laid back there aren’t any “gotcha” questions or anything

If it's so laid back, then what are they looking for among these 100s of interviews??
How do I stand out? I genuinely do have a passion for rural medicine and the undeserved, and I find it easy to share about that. I have also been pursuing osteopathic medicine over allopathic since I was 13.
Did yal share a lot of short stories about serving those who are undeserved, and clinical experiences? How long is too long to give an answer, and long is too short?

Also, I have an mcat 497 and gpa 3.36. I know it's closed file, but do you think that will be an issue in their final decision?

Honestly I am wondering the same its really odd that there are 100s being interviewed

From my understanding, they have a fairly high post interview acceptance rate. They also have a lot of waitlist movement later in May/June-ish, so they need applicants to fill those spots. During the course of an entire application cycle, they typically interview 1000-ish candidates (about 15-20% of applicants for a given cycle). Generally speaking, most of those interviewees are either directly accepted, or accepted off the waitlist later.

would you mind sharing how many people you had during your interview ?

I had a 497 and 3.2 overall and was accepted in January. They obviously like your application and feel confident you can succeed academically. Practice answering (not memorizing) the common questions and you'll do fine. And yes, try to add a short story or two! They are doing their best to get to know you in a very short time. Good luck.

Thank you this really gets my hopes up (same stats) 🙂

i'm guessing you're not surprised because the class is full? or is it because you think you did poorly?
Class is full, they were already talking about waitlisting with a zoom meeting of 100 people, and a 1/31 interview date is kinda sorta late as is

If they have to keep a few spots open in order to have interviews, its logical to assume that most people who interview that day will be waitlisted
