Please feel free to tag a pre-medical moderator once the secondary prompt has been posted.

Good luck to everyone applying!

I'm running into an issue with the "preview application proof." My essays have been inputted with a couple words remaining (I'm under the word limit) but when I preview my application, the essays are shown with words cut off. In one essay, an entire paragraph is cut off at the bottom. What should I do? I feel uneasy submitting the application when there is a formatting issue in the preview and I worry they won't see the entirety of my essay when they receive it.

Please let me know if anyone else has run into this issue or has any advice.

First round of interview invites will be sent around early August. First interview day for the NW Oregon campus is August 24th.

Interview format is as follows:
  • 30 min standard panel (Physician + PhD, sometimes an additional med student)
  • 2 MMI's
  • Wrap Q&A chill session with med students
  • There's also a "social", where students invited to interview can meet with a group of other interviewees & current med students prior to their interview day (usually the day before) to hang out, relax, and break the ice.
Good luck!

Is it in person or virtual this year?

Does anyone know what the screening requirements look like? I haven’t received a secondary yet. I have strong ties to the area and my stats are within their average. Just curious what their screening is

Not sure what their screening requirements are, but did you release your MCAT scores to AACOMAS? I didn't realize I had to do that until a few days ago, and just received a secondary this morning.

I did! Everything is received by them and I've gotten secondaries from other schools since early June 🙁

Checked my status after submitting my secondary and saw my reference letters are marked as: X Awaiting. Is there anything I need to do or will they pull my letters from AACOMAS?

Received an email stating I was not selected for an interview after initial review, but that I may be selected at a later time. I'm guessing first round of II are being sent out now.

Did your email also say:

You have not yet been selected for an interview, but please rest assured that we will notify you if you are among those selected going forward, or if there is a change in your application status. We receive applications from many highly qualified candidates and are unfortunately unable to invite all applicants for an interview.

I’m also interpreting this as I may be selected at a later round, but I’m unsure if this is basically an R

Yup, exact same. I'm guessing they throw us in a "hold" kind of group, and might offer an interview later in the cycle.

I got the same email. I was going to email them to get more information of what the email means exactly since it is worded a little weird.

Hey everyone, just spoke with the admissions office. The dude I spoke to stated this is not a rejection, and that we will likely receive an interview later in the cycle. This basically means it's an II waitlist.

Im assuming they're giving preference to IS for the first round of interviews, and will be inviting OOS next.

Thanks so much for sharing 🙂

I received an email that stated, "The College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific-Northwest Admissions Committee has reviewed your application to the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine - Oregon (DO) program, and we are pleased to inform you that you are now under consideration for an interview. Interviews will take place online beginning in August 2024 and continue through April 2025. If you are selected for an interview at any point in the admissions cycle, you will receive an email notification outlining your next steps."

Did anyone receive this email as opposed to the one mentioned above?

For reference: OOS applicant, secondary submitted 7/11, email received 7/20.

Yes, I did, on the same date as you

It's confusing, but the email you received is an edited version of the other one we received. After that initial email went out, people got mixed signals, and because of this they re-worded it. Whether you received the old version or the new version, it's a good thing, and your application has passed onto the next phase of reviewing for interviews.

If we are this far along in July, is it more likely that we'll receive an II earlier in the cycle than candidates who still have not applied?

That's generally how it works with rolling admissions; the people who apply earlier have a higher likelihood of getting an interview as they compete with a smaller applicant pool. Once that applicant pool grows later in the cycle, you are competing with a far greater amount of people, so you are less likely to do well.

I also was one of the people that received this email a while back too, for reference
