Hi all,

Following previous threads I am creating a new one here for the current independent plastic surgery application cycle (positions to start July 2026). Was hoping people can post 1. If they’re applying this year, 2 interviews as they come out, 3. any other questions they may have.

Good luck everyone!!

Also another point of discussion, looks like Vandy will no longer offer interviews to those who did not do away rotations with them which is kinda unfair :/

Hey thanks for making this thread, and I agree about Vanderbilt... seems a bit extreme to cut their pool of applicants to those who were able to do an away rotation. I did have a question for you all. Are we able to apply to programs even though you haven't received all of your letters and still waiting on transcripts? Or do you have to wait until your app is 100% done to then apply?

I waited to make it 100% complete just because I’m a type A personality but don’t know the right answer. I do think thu it is too early for programs to review applications so you still have time

actually maybe a good thing, if they always give the positions to people they know, why bother wasting everyone else's time and money?

why even bother posting the job if they're taking their own people, hah?

Looks like Vanderbilt either withdrew from the Match or closed the application for this year? It's no longer listed on the SF match website

Does anyone know when programs start sending out interview invitations?

Can anyone tell me how long it is going to take for the credentialing site to confirm all my stuff? I haven't submitted my application yet...am I screwed?

Sorry for all the questions everyone. Can someone explain if and how we get a letter from the ABPS? Do we need this in order to apply? I feel like I am so out of the loop.

yes you need it before you apply, it took me a week but can take longer

Looks like Cleveland clinic Florida withdrawn from the match as well

Their deadline passed. They still show up in my applied section. They were due 10/3. I wonder if Vanderbilt was also due early and thats why I didn't see it but when I look on my spreadsheet it says Vanderbilt was due 10/15
I got an email from SF system telling to reassign the signal bc they’re gone (Vandy). When I look through my applied programs there’s an arrow next to their name (Vandy and CCF), I guess that means they’re both out. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Still waiting on FCVS and the ABPS letter. Does anyone know when most of the programs application deadlines are?

Also did everyone send the FCVS to themselves and upload it or send it directly to SF match?

I called SF match and they said to just send it to myself first but wanted to make sure that was correct.

Thanks for your help everyone!

Yes and filled it out. I put the best part about Iowa: full of cornfields 😀

Are y'all hoping that the first interview will be sent next week likely by Temple (just comparing the timeline from last year)?

My FCVS is FINALLY done. But now the personal profile is a giant file and SF match application wont let me upload it because its too big. Has anyone else had this issue?

I actually emailed SF Match about this and they told me to print it, scan the printed copy and email it to yourself, and then upload the scanned file.

Update: I emailed them and they told me to print on black & white, scan, and re-upload. It took a few tries but gray scale seemed to shrink it the most and I got it uploaded! Its not the clearest picture but whatever at this point!

Nothing yet. It seems like (historically) Temple has been the first to send invitations… the wait is killer

First interview invite was sent today from Temple Philly 😀. Can someone swap the interview dates from 2/28 to 3/1? Ty!

Reformatting to match prior years’ format. Seems like this is what we have so far?

1. Corewell/Beaumont (12/3): 1/11 (in-person)
2. Temple (12/5): 2/28, 3/1 (in-person)

Just curious, did you signal either one of the programs?

1. Corewell/Beaumont (12/3): 1/11 (in-person)
2. Temple (12/5): 2/28, 3/1 (in-person)
3. UT Chattanooga (12/10): 1/24 (virtual)
4. U Buffalo (12/11): 1/30, 2/27 (in-person)

Does any one have any idea how receptive programs are to accommodating other dates if there’s no way you can make it to their interview 🙁

won't hurt to ask but I would imagine the spots are limited and if none is available then they can't do much about it.

Was there not a recommended invite deadline last year? Like half the programs sent invites out after mid January, some in February. Just curious if there will be a big flood of invites on Jan 10 or if they will trickle in.

My understanding independent is less regulated than integrated so there is really no deadline this year
