Hello, this is my first post on SDN. I applied to USUHS for the 2025-26 cycle, interviewed in January 2026, was waitlisted in March 2026, and later received an email to reapply in early June 2026. I have been a 68W in the National Guard for the last 6-7 years and am currently a sergeant. My stats are a 3.75 science GPA, a 3.85 cumulative GPA, and a 504 MCAT. What should I do to improve my chances of getting accepted this cycle when reapplying?

Has anyone who applied RD heard back yet?
Also, how long did it take for you guys to receive the prerequisite match form? My AMCAS was verified about a week ago and I haven't received it yet.

I have not heard back yet and I got my prerequisite match 3 days after receiving the secondary.

It went really well. I was asked "Why USU, and why Early Decision?", "Can you tell me a story that really exemplifies leadership, and what you learned from it?", and of course "Why physician? Was there an ah-hah moment that made you realize you wanted to be a physician, or was this a culmination over the the years?"

I have over 10000+ hours of research, and over a dozen publications, and research was not brought up at all, which surprised me.

Overall, my interviewer seemed genuinely interested in getting to know me, and seemed like he really wanted to know the answers to these questions as opposed to merely checking boxes.

Bear in mind that interviewer variability is very real, and you may have a totally different experience.

Are you prior service, or currently active duty? You'll want to have a strong reason for "why military / why usuhs".

I have never been in service. I am a reapplicant and it seems the questions were quite similar to my last interviews. They asked pretty much all the general questions that my short essays covered up, some scenarios questions. Did you spend all 45 minutes for the interview?
 
Spent an entire hour in the interview.

I tried to make it very conversational, and I think he did too.

I've interviewed outside of med school before, and the typical interview goes something like:

Interviewer asks question
Interviewee answers
Interviewer moves onto next question

But this USUHS interview it was more like:

Interviewer asks question
Interviewee answers
Interviewer makes follow up remarks
Interviewee makes follow up remarks to the follow up remarks
Interviewer asks related follow up question

It really felt conversational in nature.

I also asked him a lot of questions at the end, which took up about 15 minutes.

Interestingly, I didn't get any scenario questions...

Thx, I just found different medical jobs and gained more medical experience. It does sound like you have an interesting interview, last time both of my interviewers tried to end the conversation after 45 minutes passed, and yours spend a whole hour does seem like a good sign.
 
It seems to be pretty quiet on admit this week... anybody know if RD applicants received an II this week? I got verified pretty late, so I'm trying to see where they are in the review process.

last year i got the II around beginning of september, it should be the same this cycle

I think it was still quite similar to the ones last year. Asked me some background information, scenario questions, experience from work, what I did for research. Both interviews imp are pretty casual and conversational, first interviewer was actually willing to spend a few extra minutes after 45mins to answer my question, second interviewer did not seem to, and I asked him what I should prepare during this time period for the school which he replied do not prepare too much, I doubt if he is implying I did not do good during the interview. I was a bit nervous in the second interview due to lack of sleep, so one suggestion for yall with upcoming interviews is do not feel nervous, all 4 interviews i had for this school are not really serious, they ask questions that you should already know, nothing textbook-knowledge based

With respect, your wording and phrases make me think English may not be your first language and I think your usage of two terms is confusing.
This early in the cycle, it is not likely anyone has been waitlisted. It is too soon for that. What I suspect happened is you applied under ED and for whatever reason you were moved to RD. IS that correct?
Can you please clarify if you are truly waitlisted? That will be a surprise to me and others familiar with the timelines.
Or are you still under consideration, just now in the Regular Decision pool?

Thanks so much for the clarification as we all navigate the process.

I got a 498 last year and invited in October, interviewed in November. Had a good shot last year but family circumstances came up and I had to withdraw.
