Well I haven't taken my test yet, nor have I taken any practice tests yet, but assuming I do around a 210, can I still get into pediatrics (if the rest of my application is average)? Or is psychiatry my only option at that point?
If you are a US grad then yeah you can get into peds with a 210 for sure. In 2009, 257 people with scores between 201-210 matched peds and only 7 didn't match with scores in that range. For IMG's it was about 50/50 with that score. Take a look: http://www.nrmp.org/data/chartingoutcomes2009v3.pdf
Yes, you will absolutely match SOMEWHERE in peds with a 210. I would even go as far as saying a native English speaking IMG will be virtually guaranteed to snag a spot if you apply widely enough.

True, but peds isn't more competitive than psych either. If you look at the Careers in Medicine data, for both 90.4% of US seniors matched in 2010 (670/741 for psych and 1711/1892 for peds).
Average scores around 220, yes, but like all averages 50% of matriculants are below the average. I know my school had people match into EM last year without breaking 200 on Step 1.
