29 BCP courses make for a really crappy G.P.A.

This sucks. I calculated my BCP G.P.A. today and realized I took WAAAAY too many science course (38 total)... and 29 of them are BCP courses. My gpa is way too low and I am really starting to panic. I have tons of experience, have been a dental assistant for 3 years while in school, and am currently studying to retake my DAT. Do you guys think schools will even consider the amount of classes I have taken, or are they just going to reject my app altogether! And to get a better scope of how bad the gpa is: its 2.6
~Really starting to lose it here... any positive words will be greatly appreciated.

a 2.6 is going to be tough to get in with... and with all those classes... it seems like a lost cause trying to bring it up a whole lot (though taking 3 or 4 classes and acing them all would show a nice upward trend).

you've got the dental experience you need... so really... it seems like your only course of action is to destroy the DAT. we're talking AA of 24+. it's a very daunting task, but i imagine a lot of schools are just going to toss your application when they see 2.6 if they don't see a BIG DAT score to go with it.

sorry if i am being pessimistic, but i'm just giving an honest opinion. good luck!!! 👍

you will never know until you apply. the fact of the matter is that most people here are either pre-dent or already dental students. maybe one or two adcom members come and view these forums. to be honest, your one really good shot at getting in this year is do do very well on the DAT. you should get atleast 20 on all the sections. i know a person who applied 7 years straight before he got in. it's one thing that they kept discriminating him becuase of his race, and he only wanted to go to this one school. the moral of the story is this, if you work hard, you will succeed. if you don't get in this year, the heavens will not fall. apply again for next year and keep in touch with the adcom regarding what they would like you to do. good luck and above all, never lose hope.

Thank you both for posting such nice messages! I am definently not going to give up. I have been studying my butt off for the past 2 months and am planning on taking the DAT end of July. That gives me about 2 more months of hard studying to do. Hopefully the long hours will soon pay off. Thanks again for making me feel a little better. Good luck to both of you! 🙂

you didn't take too many courses, you just didn't do well in them. You can never 'take too many courses', but you can do bad in many of them. A 2.6 will be very difficult. stress you experiance, nail the dat and dont make excuses...anymore 🙂

g'luck
