Hi All,
Let me start with thanking you for all the wonderful posts. They have helped me a lot from planning to preparing, and I am sure they will help me through the application process and beyond.
I am a non traditional student in more than one respect:
32 yrs
UGPA (Engineering) 4.0, Masters (Engineering) GPA 3.86, UGPA (Life sciences) 4.0, Masters (Biochemistry - incomplete, need to finish some research credits) GPA - 4.0
Almost a decade of experience in a hospital, heavily involved with meeting physician and patient IT needs, although not directly involved with patient care
Did some lab work assisting an entomologist, maintaining a green house, and raising fruitflies.
Considerable tutoring experience in sciences, and experience maintaining student labs
Possess a lot of sought-after HealthCare IT certifications, and quite conversant in healthcare terminology (non-patient care), heavily involved with a lot of healthcare initiatives (Physician Order entry, meaningful use, reimbursement)
I was averaging 31-34 in all the AAMC practice tests, so I am confident that I would gain a point or two if I retake MCAT, but I am wondering if a gain or 1-2 points is going to significantly improve my chances.
I would like to know what others think about it.
Thanks (I will keep the subsequent ones short, I promise!)
