I dunno Kpark, I think those are some decent improvements.

Your first attempt, you had too many holes (PAT, RC, & BIO), but this time around, only only flaw is the RC...

In my opinion, if you apply boardly enough, your overall application is going to stand out better than that little 16 on RC. Aim for 20+ schools and see what happens, I truly believe someone will accept you

Overall, your application is nice ! high GPA, 19AA, 20TS, what more can they ask for?

How long did you study Kpark? looking at your ID, you seem like Korean?

International students are hard to get into dental schools.. even harder

than out-state applicants... I do have to agree that you should apply

20+ schools and see what happens... wish gd luck for me too T..T

At least you have high GPA, I have overallGPA 3.2 and sGPA3.0

gotta shoot for 24s straight to even get considered... gd luck to you.

I am so sick of studying. Please advice me if I can get any single chance, so I don't have to re re take it! I am so so so exhausted.

PAT 16 -> 20
QR 17 -> 18
RC 15 -> 16 (terrible !)
BIO 17 -> 19
GC 20 -> 20
OG 22 -> 22
Ts 19 -> 20
AA 18 -> 19

GPA 3.875
Science GPA 3.95

Thank you

take a look V might help

That 16 is really low. Especially for RC since the percentiles for RC are usually pretty low even for 20s. You seemed to have been studying for a really long time so it's a shame you didn't do a little better on the sciences to make up for that 16, or even have just spent more time on RC. However, hopefully you should at least get an interview to some school and have enough ECs to get in. I think you will get an interview somewhere probably, but then it is up to your personality.

Thank you

I guess you are korean with citizenship? Your stats look good enough to get in..maybe not to your first choice bc of RC score. You might wanna retake to better your chances.

I personally don't think you should re-take. Your sciences make up for the RC score and you know what I think you did pretty awesome and you have an awesome GPA to show for it as well. Congratulations, you should be happy with your scores and call the schools you want to apply to and see what they think as well. Re-taking it would be a pain in the arse if you ask me, esp. a 3rd time. = (

what about cut off? Anyone knows what school has RC CUT off? I want to save some money for application fee. Thank you for all of your inputs. Really appreciate it. Any other thoughts? Re take or Not. I don't want any fancy school. I just need a one.

Honestly, I don't know if retaking would really improve your RC. If your retake only increased it by 1 point this time, it might be futile to retake it and that would be a big waste of time if you had to retake again and a lot of money. go to predents.com and check schools and give them a call. Apparently RC is pretty important to some schools so I wouldn't put it past schools to deny you just based on that.

First thing you need to do is compile a list of ALL the dental schools that your interested in....

After you compile the list, then we can help you determine which of them have that 17 RC cutoff.... Those that have the 17 cutoff you can exclude them from the list.... thats the bottom line.

Come up with a list of... say 30 schools and we'll help you narrow it down to 15-20

calling schools wont get you no where. They give such a vague answer even if you analyze what they said you will not get any advice other than ohh its more than numbers, we look at the whole application. No point in contacting them b/c most schools do not have admission counselors etc...

i am pretty sure w/ enough practice his RC can def. go up. 👍

howard, florida, indiana,iowa,michigan,
misosori, nj, NC, OKlahoma, temple, tenessee

these school list at least 18 or above on DAT but some doesn't say for RC.

If you would like to get into a prestigious program, definitely retake. But if you would be satisfied with getting into any dental school, I think those scores are very good! 👍

Good job!

Okay, I took a screen shot from doc toothace's posts about minimum requirements:

English is your second language, no? If you brought that up that may help a bit. With that gpa and decent marks outside of RC, you should be fine. Congrats on the improvements.

Thank you UCBO5. Yeah English is actually my third language (Korean first, Japanese is second 🙂 I searched all the schools that I may have entry. MCG which is one of my favorite schools regarding their in state tuition (only $40,000 for 4 years, lowest in all dental schools) is required for TOEFL for any person who was not born in USA, so I guess I need to prepare TOEFL as well for admission from MCG.

I hope you called them. Matter a fact since you are instate why dont you go ahead and take an appointment w/ admissions people and explain your situation. B/c nothing is guaranteed right. Do all this before you prepare for tofel.

Unless you are in state I would knock UNC off that list. Also, I know OSU's average jumped up a lot this year so I am not sure if that is a general trend or not. But I would give places calls and see if they have cut offs.

It's not true that anyone whose' s 1st language isn't English has to take the TOEFL. As long as you went to high school and college here, you don't need the test. Otherwise, that means people who moved to the US when they were like 6 years old have to take the TOEFL and that's just stupid.

Kpark,

congrats on the improvement. My homie is in your shoes and has 20's with a 15 RC. he was a second timer too. UCSF,UNLV, ASDOH, and western told him not to retake unless he could improve ALL sections with at least 3 points. they told him to not hide from it and try to prove them by taking upper div english classes and talk about it in his secondaries. just tell 'em this test doesnt reflect your ability to comprehend I guess. I wouldn't retake unless you could manage to get 22's in all sections. again, RC might not be a guaranteed improvement because it takes time. Apply to 20 schools and you ll get in somewhere.

best of luck:luck:

Thank you PRSNDWG. I am happy with your input. Dear Coolfez, you are right, but i was talking about GMC, they are required TOEFL only option for waive that is high school diploma, not college. That's the only school that is required for TOEFL.
