Hi,
I'm a senior and I'm taking a year off, so I'll be applying after I graduate. I'm trying to figure out what to take next semester, and I'm a little confused. I have only taken one semester of genchem at college (AP credit for the first semester), one semester of english (two writing intensive classes though), and one semester of math (in addition to AP Calc AB/BC credit). Now that I've started looking at application stuff though, I'm considering taking intro stat and an intro poetry class, just to get 8 credits of math and english each. However, this means I can't take two other really cool neuroscience electives I've been wanting to take for a while. I am a biology/neuroscience double major, and I did very well on the PS and BS of the MCAT, and I've done a good amount of research, so I have a good science background, and I don't know how heavily med schools will weigh those two extra math and english classes. In addition, I would be taking stat and poetry, two really low-level classes, so would that even matter to med schools?
Also, one of my writing intensive classes was conducted in a foreign language, and the other one was film-based, not literature-based. Does that matter? If not, I can probably count the film one as an english class, right? I can still write!
And any advice regarding whether I should try to take a chemistry course this summer (all spring chem classes at my school are part 2 of a series)? As I said, I APed out of one semester of gen chem, and the only upper-level Chem class I've taken is Biochem. Do med schools look at biochem as an upperlevel replacement for genchem?
