2ndaries so bad you didn't complete them?

As soon as I saw UChicago's essay questions, that was it. It's funny that they have a link on the 2ndary that allows you to withdraw. Must be quite the popular button. Case Western was too focused on research for me. Anyone else not complete any secondaries b/c they were too boring, difficult, or just not worth the money?

I haven't completed one from UVa. I didn't like one of the questions so I don't know if I will get back to it. Loma Linda has a really long one which incorporates religion into it. I may give a shot, but I have been procrastinating. USC Keck had a pretty long one too (I did finish this though).

I am debating the Columbia secondary. Too many unique questions that I can't just steal from my other applications. Plus, what's the deal with the bizarre essay length requirements? 759 characters, 2284 characters? Someone in the adcom over there has to be a major dork to do that. Do I want to deal with people like that for 4 years?

you do realize that Loma Linda is a Seventh Day Adventist school, right? The religion this is there for that very reason. They don't hesitate to advertise that Jesus is a real part of their curriculum.

last time around (i'm a re-applicant).. i thnk duke screwed up the characters b/c last time it was 500 words and 1000 words, respectively...so i didn't even bother..this time, i'm determined to actually fill it out!!

Last year I didn't bother with Texas Tech or A&M because their secondaries are so long. They were the last secondaries I was filling out and I didn't have a huge desire to remain in Texas.

Well, I'm glad someone else here is honest. Since we're airing our dirty laundry: I have actually skipped the same two secondaries for the same reasons. UChicago's was too long and required me to be introspective--that's just not healthy.

Case whored me out to the gods of research. I haven't had any research experience and having a tentatively "required" research essay made me hesitate. Of course, when I called them to ask if I should still apply, they told me I definitely should ($$$)...

Vanderbilt was my most difficult secondary, but it is where I ended up going, so don't skip out on the hard ones, it may be your favorite place in the end.

I skipped Vermont, because of their much-ridiculed speeding ticket police report requirement. I haven't skipped any because the essays were too long or boring, although I'm lagging behind on a few for that reason. It's just hard to grind through so many essays. They must be even more boring to read is all I can imagine.

Ugh, Rush. 👎 Too many essays that I can't copy and paste to or from other apps. UC Davis was a real pain in the a**, too, but I am almost done with that bad boy. And I second the "Boo" on Columbia, both for the whacked out essay lengths and the crappy boxes that don't let you input all your course information if you're on the quarter system. And you have to send transcripts! Why did I pay $30 to add them to my AMCAS list?

i second uchicago...i got that secondary so long ago and still havent completed any of the essays... theres always other secondaries i could be working on, that are much less painful

technically i haven't not done UVA, Chicago, of USC... but the motivation to do them is rather absent...

Right... There was divine intervention that kept you from downloading adobe. It's the same reason I don't get a 4.0 every semester. God doesn't want me to.
