I've been messing around on Photoshop with some pics and I can't crop them to be exactly 2X2 without cutting off a part of my face. I know this seems stupid... but are the Adcoms going to think I can't follow directions if I submit a pic that is 2x2.6 ?? The 2x2 just means don't send us a huge wall photo, right? 🙂

Well, have others submitted head shots that are slightly off of the 2" x 2" mark? Did this present any issues?

the photo I submitted was like 1'' X 3" to Columbia, I called a week ago to check the status of my app. and they said it was complete.....so I did not have any problems......they just don't want a huge photo or a photo of you and other people....do the best to crop yourself out and choose a picture that best represents yourself......it doesn't necessarily have to be a formal photo, it can be some candid shot as well

oh come on guys, they are not going to sit there with rulers and measure out each picture and say 'omg this guy's picture is 0.6" longer than we wanted it to be, hes out.'

This is my feeling on the subject. I just wanted to make sure that I was on the same page as others. I guess some take the 2x2 literally (which is fine), but as long as others haven't had issues with sending small non 2x2 photos, I won't worry.

Should you be in a suit? or just casual?

Maybe this is just a preliminary test. Once we start cutting preps in d-school, I’m sure they won’t have a problem doing things like that.

...Just having fun, I don't think it should be too big of a deal.

If you have a suit handy I would throw it on. Any little bit helps. This is the first time d-schools will see you, and thus their first impression of you.

For my pic I wore a suit jacket over an un-tucked dress shirt with a tie, but was also wearing shorts and flip-flops. Looked impressive from the chest up. 😀

As a matter of fact, Adcoms are more critical than you think...after my acceptance to UOP, I was told that a contributing factor to my acceptance was the dimensions of my pic. Adcoms correlate this picture requirement with hand-eye coordination and the visual acuity needed for periodontal probing and proximo-axial crown reductions.

I would take this very seriously... 🙂

Making a 2x2 in Photoshop really isnt too bad. Just open up a new file and size it 2 inches by 2inches. Then copy and paste a picture of yourself in there.. and then stretch and skew it til it fits... and voilah... done! I made my wife's passport photos and my 2x2 for secondaries in literally minutes.

Don't forget when you send in secondaries to place the staple exactly 0.25" from each edge and align it perfectly parallel w/ the vertical edge.

Dude, you're joking, right?

Since when does UOP request a pic?

Did you really dress up? I didn't feel like it was necessary to dress up for the picture. As long as you're not doing a naked keg stand, you'll be okay.

3 schools sent back my 2x2.1 photo, but they cashed my check

you will not get rejected b.c. you can't get a 2x2 picture. They aren't that picky.

did you hear about the mm rulers that they use to measure the length of these pictures? 1mm difference can result in a rejection

😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀

j/k

Too bad there isn't a CS (common sense) score on the DAT. It'd save the adcoms trouble with the rulers.

I cannot believe that this tread has made it this far! You guys are crazy! Here is what you should do:

1. Put on a nice shirt
2. Go get a passport photo
3. mail it in

Note: Don't be that guy/gal who likes their picture so much that you want to send it to every school. Send them only to the schools that ask/require them.

All that being said the picture does not have to be great. Granted I am so hot all of my pictures are amazing but I cant help that.
